Abstract

Performans reproduksi optimum dari ternak betina adalah faktor yang sangat penting dalam suatu usaha peternakan sapi potong, sebab sebuah perusahaan peternakan sapi potong hanya dapat berlangsung dengan baik jika ada cukup pedet yang dilahirkan, bertumbuh dengan baik sampai dipasarkan. Pubertas adalah salah satu kriteria reproduksi yang harus dipenuhi oleh ternak sebelum ternak itu dapat bereproduksi. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan dan telah diketahui bahwa umur dan bobot saat pubertas pada sapi betina sangat ditentukan oleh bangsa sapi, bobot badan, nutrisi dan musim. Oleh sebab itu, faktor-faktor tersebut perlu diketahui dan dipahami sehingga ternak sapi yang dipelihara dapat diatur untuk bereproduksi seperti yang diharapkan oleh peternak.

Abstract

The object of this experiment was to know the effect of rumen content on duck performance at starter period. Randomized Completely Design consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications was used in this experiment. Each experiment unit consisted of 2 ducks at starter period, thus tottaly was 40 ducks. Four dietary treatments comprised 1) basal diet without rumen content; 2) basal diet supplemented v.ith 5% of rumen content; 3) basaJ diet supplemented v.ith 10% of rumen content; 4) basal diet supplemented with 15% ofrumen content; 5) basal diet supplemented with 20% of rumen content. Variable determine in this experiment were feed intake, body gain, and feed efficiency. In general, use of cow's rumen content in diet increased feed intake, body gain, and feed efficiency. Supplementation of rumen content at level of 10% in diet had the best result in this experiment.

Abstract

The aim of this study were to obtain the optimum level of NPK fertilizers of sudan grass and economic of NPK fertilizers utilization. The randomized completely block design (RCBD) were used to evaluate, namely 4 levels of fertilizer doses NPK and 4 blocks for determine the grass production. The treatments for randomly N application, namely: No (PO); N150 (P1); N300 (P2); and N450(P3). Phosphorus and K fertilizer were given at the same rate, that were 300 kg P2O5 and 150 kg K2O ha-1. The results of study showed that DM production for PO (3.19 tonha-1) differed significantly with P1, P2 and P3; but between P2 and P3 did not differ significantly. There were increased DM production due to increasing of fertilizers applied. The values of DM production increasing percentage for P1, P2, and P3 compared with PO, for DM were 69.44%, 80.45% and 85.28%, respectively. The increased percentages of DM production of P3 tended to decrease. Therefore, it can be summarized that P2 (300 kg N, 300 kg P and 150 kg K ha-1) was optimum level for DM production. Based on partial budget analysis, indicated that cultivation of sudan grass with NPK fertilizer treatments yielded profit positively. The profit value for P1, P2, and treatment of P3 were Rp 581.500,-; Rp 2.009.500,-; and Rp 2.997.500,-per hectare, respectively.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the potential resource of farms in Mamberamo Raya regency. The research was conducted in the Mamberamo Raya Regency between September and October 2012., A subjective approach of the qualitative method was used by interview and literature studies. The results showed that the livestock development in Mamberamo Raya regency had a promising future, but worth noting agribusiness channel from upstream to downstream. The problem faced by farmers was lack of venture capital, livestock, training, lack of access to education and short of affordable of quality health services, low investment both public and companies, lack of basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, limited good river transport services, problem of land and sea linkages among districts and limited access to marketing. To optimize the efficiency of the production value and income of farmers then this should be supported by a cooperative storage facility or the expected distribution of the production can be accommodated and prepared collectively. Regional development of cattle and goats have good prospects in Mamberamo Hulu district, Central Mamberamo, Benuki, Roufaer, Mamberamo Lower and Upper Waropen. Other commodities need to be developed in all districts in Mamberamo are Pigs, Goats, range chicken and duck. Buffaloes also prospective by considering the potential freshwater swamps but the presence of natural predators such as estuarine crocodile and the annual flooding of Mamberamo should be considered. Livestock production is a priority at the moment in order to meet local consumption and improve animal protein sources.

Abstract

This research is done at Taman Ternak FPPK UNIPA Manokwari that attributed to known productivity four grass kinds in fertilizing level NPK. This research uses experiment method with random group plan with factorial pattern. The treatment consists of two factors that is four grass kinds (Pennisetum purpuroides, penisetum purpureum, Sorghum Sp. Panicum maximum) and three fertilizing doses with five group, so that effort unit totals as much as 60. Defoliasi is done after aged grass 45 days. Fresh production of Pennisetum purpurhoides differ very significant than Pennisetum purpureum, Sorghum Sp. and Panicum maximum where does average successive highest fresh production Pennisetum purpurhoides that is 89696 kg/ha/defoliasi, sorghum Sp. that is 30853 kg/ha/defoliasi, Pennisetum purpureum that is 26416 kg/ha/defoliasi and Panicum maximum that is 23570 kg/ha/defoliasi. Fresh production with dose urea 100 gr + tsp 50 gr + kcl 50 gr and urea 200 gr + tsp 100 gr + kcl 100 gr differ significant than without fertilizing, where does average successive highest fresh production dose urea 200 gr + tsp 100 gr + kcl 100 gr that is 45194 kg/ha/defoliasi, dose urea 100 gr + tsp 50 gr + kcl 50 gr that is 45046 kg/ha/defoliasi and without fertilizing that is 37614 kg/ha/defoliasi. Dry matter production of Pennisetum purpuroides differ very significant than Pennisetum purpureum, Sorghum Sp. and Panicum maximum where does average successive highest dry matter production of Pennisetum purpuroides that is 13026 kg/ha/defoliasi, Sorghum Sp. that is 6555 kg/ha/defoliasi, Pennisetum purpureum that is 6243 kg/ha/defoliasi and Panicum maximum that is 4723 kg/ha/defoliasi. Average successive highest dry matter production dose urea 100 gr + tsp 50 gr + kcl 50 gr that is 7845 kg/ha/defoliasi, dose urea 200 gr + tsp 100 gr + kcl 100 gr that is 7705 kg/ha/defoliasi and without fertilizing that is 7360 kg/ha/defoliasi.

Abstract

This experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of PGF2α and time of injection on the quality and viability of Local ram sperm in Tris dilution at 50C storage temperature. The sperm was collected from four Local rams with artificial vagina, once a week for one month. At the first week, sperm were collected without PGF2α injection; 10 minute after PGF2α injection in second week; 20 minute after PGF2α injection in third week; and 30 minute after PGF2α injection in fourth week. PGF2α with dose of 1,0 ml/head (7,5 mg Luprostiol/ml) were given by intramuscular injection in thigh area. The data were analyzed by Completed Randomized Design. When there were significant differences continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. The result showed that PGF2α injection significantly (p<0.05) increased the motility sperm and life sperm percentage especially on collected sperm 10 minute after PGF2α injection. Ejaculate volume, pH, sperm concentration, abnormal sperm percentation and sperm viability, showed no significant difference (p>0.05). Based on the result of this study, it was concluded that PGF2α injection 10 minute before sperm collection could improve sperm quantity and quality specifically sperm motility and sperm life percentation.

Abstract

The aimed of experiment was to increace the quality of kampong cock's cement by adding quail's yolk (yolk of Conturnix conturnix japonica) in Ringger's solution. The experiment was conducted at Laboratorium of animal production by collection cement of 10 adul kampong cocks. Moreover the macroscopic and microscopic observation was carried out to observe the quality of fresh cock's cement the fresh cement was then diluted by quail's yolk and Ringer's solution, and was stored at 5 0c. Results of research showed that the percentage of quail's yolk had a significant effect on storage time duration. Dilution in 20 % quail's yolk stored at 24 hours gave the best result. However dilution in 30 % quail's yolk in 24 hours storage time was still aplicable for AI.

Abstract

Tingkat kebuntingan ternak sapi potong di suatu wilayah adalah indikator penting bagi pengelolaan ternak tersebut secara berkelanjutan. Ternak sapi dengan tingkat kebuntingan yang tinggi akan memberikan jaminan bagi tingkat kelahiran yang juga baik, jika ditunjang dengan sistem pemeliharaan yang memadai. Dengan demikian dapat dipastikan bahwa populasi ternak tersevut juga akan terjaga dengan baik. Informasi mengenai tingkat reproduksi ternak sapi potong di Kabupaten Manokwari belum cukup tersedia dan jika sudah adapun masih merupakan penggalan data yang belum terhimpun sebagai data lengkap kabupaten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyajikan informasi mengenai tingkat reproduksi ternak sapi potong secara khusus tingkat kebuntingan pada empat distrik dengan manajemen pemberian pakan yang berbeda sebagai baseline data dalam pengelolaan pembibitan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Manokwari. Enam ratus dua ekor sapi betina dari empat distrik (Prafi, Oransbari, Ransiki dan Manokwari) di Kabupaten Manokwari dijadikan contoh dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat kebuntingan pada ternak sapi pada sistem pemeliharaan yang berbeda. Sapi betina yang dipelihara dengan sistem dilepas pada suatu areal terbatas (ranch/pastura) dan sistem digembalakan dengan menggunakan tali leher memiliki tingkat kebuntingan yang lebih baik (rata-rata 58%) dibanding ternak sapi yang dipelihara dengan sistem diikat dan diberi hijauan potongan (rata-rata 31%). Kctersediaan pejantan, rasio jantan betina, kesehatan ternak, ketersediaan pakan, pengelolaan padang rumput dan ternak adalah faktor utama yang mempengaruhi tingkat kebuntingan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Manokwari.

Abstract

A study to identifY the possibility on the development of swine raising managed traditionally by local communities on the coastal area of Manokwari district was conducted in Manokwari district (Kecamatan Manokwari; Kelurahan Manokwari Barat and Kelurahan Manokwri Timur). Data collection was carried out through field survey, observation and interviewing 35 respondent farmers Who have been raising swine for at least a year. For the future development, the requirements of good feeding management, feed additive (vitamin and mineral) is urgently to be applied with regards to enrich feed nutrients for the animals. Feed nutrition analysis of the consumed feeding is important to do serve as the base line information for the feeding management requirements. Feed availability was showed by various feed items, feeding sources diversity, and common practice of feeding frequency that appropriate as requirements for raising swine.

Abstract

One of the factorthat influencethe process offertilization on Echymiperakalubu is the quality of the spermwhich produced by males. The ability of spermtofertilize anovumis not only owned by the spermatozoa which derived from the results of ejaculation, butis also owned by spermatozoa from the caudaepididymis.This study aimed to determine sperm concentration and motility from caudaepididymis.Twenty-one males E. kalubuwere used which was 370-1500g. Based onthis weight, it was divided into three groupings, they were prepubertal (370-640 g), young adult (>640-850g) and adult (>850g).The results showed that the sperm concentration of the prepubertal was1.75±1.14x106/ml,the young adult was 8.86±4.21x106/ml and increased to12.56±6.33x106/mlin the adult group.Sperm motility also increased with increasing maturity. The prepuberta lgroup showed that sperm motility was33.33±25.17%, increased to41.67±12.58% (young adult) and3.54±57.50% followed by the adult.
