Abstract

The lack of success in learning Indonesian in fifth-grade elementary schools is dominant in the low productive language skills. The limitations of learning resources such as textbooks are one of the causes of the emergence of these problems. This study aims to develop Indonesian language textbooks containing character education through the Active Learning model by utilizing literature as a learning resource. The type of research used is development research with the following stages: exploration, model development, and model testing. The subjects of this research were the fifth-grade elementary school students at the exploration stage, as many as 30 students. At the development stage, as many as 56 students and as many as 165 students at the testing stage. Data was collected through documentation studies, observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique was conducted qualitatively using an interactive model at the exploration and product development stages. The statistical analysis used an independent sample t-test at the model test stage. The test begins with prerequisite analysis and hypothesis testing. Abstract

Expectations for qualified primary school teachers in Indonesia are very high. The public is aware that education in elementary schools is an essential part of introducing a scientific discipline to students, one of which is science. To provide optimal science learning, teachers must have qualified Science Content Knowledge (SCK) so that students have no misconceptions and confusion. This study aims to analyze the mastery of prospective SCK teachers on biology subjects at the elementary level. The research method in this study is a descriptive method using a survey design. Data were obtained from 284 primary school teacher education program participants at the end of the semester. The instrument is a multiple-choice test with four answer choices with 40 questions. The device was then given to the participants and analyzed by calculating the percentage and putting it into a predetermined category. This study found that the mastery of pre-service teacher SCK needs to be considered because the average category of understanding is in the "Very Poor" and "Less" types. This study suggests the need for a professional program for both teachers and pre-service teachers who can combine SCK and pedagogy so that the learning provided is more optimal and offers a good learning experience.

Abstract

Reversible thinking is the mental ability to return the way of thinking to the original point. This study explores the reversible thinking of fifth graders on linear equations. This descriptive-exploratory research was conducted on 96 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data collection is done by providing reversible thinking and interviews. The technique used for data analysis is qualitative and quantitative description analysis. The assignment contains a linear equation (called the initial equation). Students are asked to make an equation equivalent to the initial equation. All equations that students successfully created were then analyzed and classified based on the strategies used. Next, one student with the most diverse approach was selected to be explored more deeply in reversible thinking. The results of the study, there are ten categories of students' reversible thinking strategies, among others, first, moving the elements of the initial equation builder. Second, determine the unknown factors. Third, operate both sides of the initial equation with the same number. Fourth, operate both as equations of equivalent expressions. Fifth, change the known building elements in the created equation. Sixth refers to the value of the unknown component then converts that value into a presentation. Seventh, transforming the building elements that are known in the initial equation. Eighth refers to the value of the initial equation variable. Ninth, using the definition of subtraction. Tenth, using the commutative property of the operation of the number.

Abstract

Student problems at school not only include academic problems, but also non-academic problems. One effort to overcome this is by collaborating with teachers, parents, and counselors. This study aims to produce a collaborative model of teachers, parents, and counselors based on experiential learning to solve students' non-academic problems. The research method used is Research and Development (RnD). The research instrument used was a semi-open questionnaire related to students' non-academic problems, a questionnaire on parental understanding, and model validation instruments. The subjects in this study were 8 elementary school teachers and guardians of students who had a tendency to non-academic problems. Analysis of the data used is a test of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results of the study show that non-academic behavior that is disturbing and difficult for teachers to overcome is disrespectful and disruptive. Meanwhile, the understanding of parents regarding this issue is still low. To solve this problem, the developed model will have several scenarios, including; concrete experience; reflective observation; abstract conceptualization; active experimentation & evaluation. The results showed that the involvement of parents and counselors greatly influenced efforts to minimize non-academic problems experienced by students. This model will have a direct impact on the ease with which teachers in schools deal with students who have non-academic problems.

Abstract

There are still many students who find it difficult to ask questions about material that they don't understand, students who get bored easily in the teaching and learning process, and students who don't follow the lesson and play more when learning is in progress are the main reasons for the importance of the teacher's role in educating, directing and providing good learning media so that students are interested in participating in learning. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in implementing an independent learning system for low-grade students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were four people, one principal, and 3 class teachers. At the same time, the test subjects were 75 students (1 class each at 3 levels). Then, the data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis is done by collecting information through interviews, data reduction, and data presentation. The results showed that the teacher's role in implementing independent learning in lower grade students had been carried out to the maximum. Teachers have used various learning methods to make students interested, not bored, and enthusiastic in the teaching and learning, including giving gifts, praise, yelling, and punishment/reprimand if students behave badly in learning.

Abstract

Obstacles found during this learning process can come from the teacher, the school environment, or the students themselves. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause students to have learning difficulties. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were one principal, two teachers, and 20 students. This research uses interview, observation, and documentation data collection techniques. Data collection methods are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study results are the difficulty factors experienced by students come from within and outside the students themselves. Inside students include the enthusiasm and interest of students in learning, student intelligence, student body, and mental conditions. From outside the students themselves, namely the student's environmental conditions, relationships with friends, parents, and teachers, classroom conditions, advice and infrastructure, learning media, and difficulties in learning materials. Two factors that cause students to experience learning difficulties greatly influence student learning success. Students who are in elementary school have not been able to overcome the problems experienced, therefore students need to get more attention from teachers and parents to overcome the learning difficulties they are experiencing.

Abstract

Creativity is a competency that teachers need to have, especially in the learning process, to support the formation of creative thinking processes in children. Creative teaching needs to be applied especially in the learning of elementary school children because they are in a critical period in forming creative thinking processes. Teachers play a role in fostering and increasing creativity in children in elementary school. This study analyzes the correlation between teacher efficacy and teacher perceptions of creativity on creative teaching behavior during school learning. This study uses a quantitative approach. A sampling of data on 43 elementary school teachers from several cities in Indonesia was conducted using a simple random technique. The measuring tools used in this research are the Creativity Fostering Teacher Index (CFTI) and the Teaching for Creativity Scale (TFCS). The data obtained were tested quantitatively using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that self-efficacy and teacher perceptions influence creativity and creative teaching behavior. Increased teacher efficacy has been proven to help teachers to form self-confidence in creative teaching. On the other hand, the teacher's perception of creativity will also affect teacher efficacy in applying creativity to the teaching and learning process.
