Abstract

Expectations for qualified primary school teachers in Indonesia are very high. The public is aware that education in elementary schools is an essential part of introducing a scientific discipline to students, one of which is science. To provide optimal science learning, teachers must have qualified Science Content Knowledge (SCK) so that students have no misconceptions and confusion. This study aims to analyze the mastery of prospective SCK teachers on biology subjects at the elementary level. The research method in this study is a descriptive method using a survey design. Data were obtained from 284 primary school teacher education program participants at the end of the semester. The instrument is a multiple-choice test with four answer choices with 40 questions. The device was then given to the participants and analyzed by calculating the percentage and putting it into a predetermined category. This study found that the mastery of pre-service teacher SCK needs to be considered because the average category of understanding is in the "Very Poor" and "Less" types. This study suggests the need for a professional program for both teachers and pre-service teachers who can combine SCK and pedagogy so that the learning provided is more optimal and offers a good learning experience.

Abstract

Science Content Knowledge (SCK) teachers are one of the main things in providing science learning that follows scientific conceptions. One of the causes of misconceptions or inappropriate concepts that students have regarding science is the teacher. So, the purpose of this study is to identify pre-service teachers at primary school about the SCK. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method with a survey design. Data were collected from 131 participants from the Primary School Teacher Education Program in the early semester. The essential concepts in science (physics) used in the study are elementary and junior high school. The instrument is a multiple-choice test with four answers choices with 40 questions. The study finds that for almost every essential physics/science concept, the SCK of the pre-service teachers needs to be improved. This result contradicts our expectations considering the concepts being tested are for elementary and junior high schools. SCK is playing an important element in giving the quality of learning science and building and preparing students to meet the next educational level. Thus, teaching physics from an early age must be taught conceptually and presented with appropriate representations to make it easier for students to learn.

Abstract

Instrumen dalam sebuah penelitian memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar guna menentukan keberhasilan sebuah penelitian terutama penelitian kuantitatif. Karena instrumen adalah alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur variabel yang hendak diukur oleh peneliti. Namun, sebelum digunakan instrumen tersebut harus memiliki dua syarat yaitu valid dan reliabel. Kedua syarat ini hendaknya dipahami benar oleh peneliti guna mendapatkan instrumen yang tepat dan data hasil penelitian benar-benar sesuai dengan variabel yang dijadikan tujuan penelitian.

Abstract

Inquiry skills are important skills possessed by a teacher. This study aims to analyze the inquiry skills of elementary school teachers and analyze the need for developing these skills in the lecture process in the elementary school teacher. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a survey design. Participants in this study amounted to 49 teachers. Data was collected using test instruments given to participants and interviews about their understanding of inquiry-based learning. Then the answers are analyzed and classified. The results showed that the teacher's inquiry skills needed to be improved because of the four groups of inquiry skills, both conceptualizing and planning design, implementation, analysis and interpretation, and communicating all were in the "weak" category, this was indicated by the average percentage of respondents in each group below 50%. The majority of respondents do not have a science education background. They also do not have sufficient knowledge about inquiry-based learning, especially in using it in the learning process. However, they agree that inquiry skills are important skills to be developed for students. Therefore, we need a lecture program that can facilitate elementary school teachers to be able to develop their inquiry skills so that science learning in elementary schools can be even more optimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai pemahaman dari calon guru Sekolah Dasar (SD) mengenai konsep pencernaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan tipe survei yang diberikan kepada 105 calon guru SD. Instrumen yang disebarkan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara online berbentuk pilihan ganda yang berkaitan dengan konsep pencernaan dan kuesioner terkait dengan pengalaman belajar mereka mengenai konsep pencernaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa pada umumnya jawaban yang diberikan oleh calon guru belum sesuai dengan harapan hal ini dibuktikan dengan persentase rata-rata jawaban benar adalah sebesar 45.12% yang termasuk ke dalam kategori “Kurang”. Selain itu pengalaman belajar mengenai konsep pencernaan dari responden sebagian besar bersumber dari buku yang kurang interaktif, visualisasi, dan pengemasan konsep yang dianggap belum sesuai dengan apa yang mereka butuhkan. Hasil tersebut dapat diartikan bahwa perlunya sebuah pengembangan bahan/media ajar yang dapat memudahkan guru dalam memahami konsep pencernaan. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi hal tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan media Augmented Reality (AR), Media tersebut adalah Augmented Reality (AR), media ini merupakan kombinasi dari teknologi yang dapat menghadirkan konten yang dipelajari pada gadget di atas lingkungan dunia nyata. Selain itu dalam pembuatannya diperlukan diperhatikan aspek pedagoginya agar konsep yang diberikan dalam media ini mudah untuk dipelajari oleh pengguna.

Abstract

This study focuses to the analyze effectiveness of using multimedia powerpoint in learning science for elementary school students. The purposes of this study are to knowing the effectiveness of Multimedia Powerpoint as a learning media on the motivation and science learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students. With quantitative approach and Pre-Experimental Design One Group Pretest-Posttest Design model. The population in this study were all fifth grade students at SD Gugus Salubarani for the academic year 2022/2023 with a total of 93 students. To get sample used cluster random sampling type with which was carried out through class randomization and obtained class V SDN 292 Inpres Karangan as the sample. Based on the results of statistical data analysis using a one sample t test with a 95% confidence level, the t value is 4.043 where the value is t¬table = 1.72074 (4.043 > 1.72074) so it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, the student's motivation is as expected, which is more than 36 or in general the motivation to learn science. The fifth grade elementary school students in the Salubarani group are in the medium category after learning using powerpoint media. In addition, based on the results of the calculation obtained a normalized gain value = 0.43972 which states that the increase in learning motivation of grade V elementary school students in the Salubarani cluster is in the medium category.Based on the results of hypothesis testing with a test value of 75 and a 95% confidence level, the value of tcount = 3.699, which is more than the value of t¬table = 1.72074 (3.699>1.72074) this shows that the average science learning outcomes of Grade V elementary school students the salubarani group is more than or equal to 75 after being taught using Multimedia Powerpoint.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to analyze effect of learning using the outdoor activity method on students' science learning activities and outcomes in the matter of energy and its changes. This learning experiment has a one group pretest-posttest design through a quantitative approach using statistical data analysis obtained from 21 fourth grade students at SDN 18 Sadan who were sampled. Data was collected using tests for student learning outcomes, while student activity during learning was measured using questionnaires and observations. Based on the numbers obtained, the average score of student learning activities is 45.05 and is in the high category. Based on observations obtained in general 85.5% are active when learning. Based on the analysis of learning outcomes data with the t test, the sig value was obtained. 0.000 which leads to the conclusion that the outdoor activity method has an influence on the activities and learning outcomes of science students in class IV SD Negeri 18 Sadan.

Abstract

The development of digital-based teaching materials is significant in today's digital era. However, a few elementary school teachers could still improve at developing digital teaching materials, including teaching materials based on Google Slide Pear Deck. Teachers have carried out several developments. However, only some still need to focus on developing digital teaching materials based on Google Slide Pear Deck on science materials in elementary schools. This research aims to produce digital teaching materials with Google Slide Pear Deck that are valid, practical, and effective. This type of research is development research with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection instruments are tests, questionnaires, interview sheets, and observations. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the research data, it is obtained that the digital teaching materials based on Google Slide Pear Deck are a media in class V semester 1 with the subject matter of the water cycle process has met the criteria of valid, practical and effective, so that this teaching material is suitable for use as a medium to increase interest and learning outcomes of science material on the water cycle process. Further research needs to be carried out to complement the shortcomings of this research, especially in developing teaching materials based on Google Slide Pear Deck, which raises a variety of subject matter in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying the blended learning method in increasing students' conceptual understanding of the human digestive system material and to analyze the effectiveness of science learning using the blended learning method in student independence in the human digestive system material. This research method used a Quasi Experimental Design. The research design consisted of two groups, each of which was randomly selected (R). The first group was given treatment (X) and the other group was not. In research, the group that was given treatment was called the experimental group and the group that was not given treatment was called the control group. The number of respondents in this study amounted to 27 children. This study used the SPSS 21 program with paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The results of this study are that the application of the blended learning method in increasing students' conceptual understanding of the material on the human digestive system has been effective, this is evidenced by a significance value of 0.00 <0.05. Science learning with the blended learning method in the independent learning of students in the human digestive system material is very effective, this is evidenced by a significance value of 0.00 <0.05.
