Abstract

The concept of education at the basic education level plays an important role in character building and students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development. Through science learning, it is hoped that students will not only know the concept, but are directed to be able to solve problems in the surrounding environment. However, the facts show that students in elementary schools still have difficulty solving analytical problems in science learning. This study aims to analyze the effect of metacognition on the ability to solve science problems in fifth grade elementary school students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The sample in this study were 50 grade 5 students, who were selected using a random sampling technique. Data was collected using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis method used is simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the value of tcount was greater than ttable, namely 3,086 > 2,312 at a significance level of = 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of metacognition on the ability to solve science problems. The implications of the results of this study are expected to be used as evaluation material and input for teachers in choosing and using appropriate learning strategies so as to improve problem-solving skills in science learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused various changes in the education system in Indonesia, especially in the use of online learning methods. However, implementing new technologies is challenging, especially for parents and teachers of lower-grade elementary school students. One form of technology that is applied in online learning is Google Classroom. This study aims to analyze the relationship between using Google Classroom during the Covid-19 pandemic and its effect on the learning process and outcomes. This study used qualitative research methods. The subjects of this study were 33 parents of students. Data was collected through surveys and interviews with parents and teachers. The data were analyzed qualitatively through the Technology Acceptance Model. The analysis results show that although the applied technology is well received, there is a difference between the scores and the results of evaluating student performance in face-to-face meetings with the teacher. Learning loss can be caused by parents who are too involved in the online learning process and teachers' difficulty adequately assessing student performance. The implication is that online education methods are ineffective and may have caused damage to the education system in general.

Abstract

The Science Literacy Movement was programmed by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2017. In fact, the scientific literacy of Indonesian students is still in the low category, still below the average PISA completeness score. Based on these problems, it is important to understand the Science Literacy Movement in schools, especially elementary schools. This study aims to analyze the process, quality, and constraints of the implementation of the Science Literacy Movement in Elementary Schools. This research is classified as a mixed method. The mixed research design used by the researcher is an explanatory design. The subject of this research is the Science Literacy Movement program in each educational unit in the research location. The research instrument used was an evaluation questionnaire on the implementation of the Science Literacy Movement and interview guidelines. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study stated that all schools had implemented the Science Literacy Movement but had not touched all aspects of the Science Literacy Movement; the quality of the implementation of the scientific literacy movement in schools as a whole is good; and the constraints experienced related to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, limited budget, limited infrastructure, low learning motivation, and lack of guidance from various parties. The implication of this research is that the Science Literacy Movement needs to be done holistically and creatively so that it can be implemented in offline and online learning.

Abstract

The learning media used for teachers in online learning during the pandemic are only limited to using pictures, words, sounds, videos, and powerpoints in the form of simple presentations. Thus, the media is not optimal in helping students understand the material and does not increase students' direct experience. It takes the development of online learning media based on android applications to solve these problems. This study aims to develop an android-based learning media "Anima-lie" on animal life cycle material for grade IV elementary school. The research model used is Research and Development (R&D) by applying the ADDIE development model. This application was piloted on 37 fourth grade students. The instrument used is a validation questionnaire for 2 material experts, 2 media experts, and a user response questionnaire. The results of the product developed based on the assessment of material experts get an average score percentage of 85.5% in the good category and for the media expert assessment the average score percentage is 89.93% in the very good category. For the results of student responses, the percentage of the average score is 83.64% with a good category. Abstract

The monitoring of the education quality standards on the implementasion of the distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic had proven to be difficult. This study aims to develop a monitoring model by utilizing the Gsuite facility to assist principals in supervising learning activities carried out by teachers. This development research used the Borg and Gall model which had been adapted by Lawrence Cunningham. FGD (Focus Group Discussion) and SWOT analysis were used during the research, starting from collecting information, setting goals, making initial models, testing, and evaluating until the final model was produced. The trial was carried out by involving 20 respondents consisting of principals and teachers. The results of the trial and application of the model showed significant results. MMBGSuite's product have met the standard eligibility criteria by showing results of 82.9% for media validation and 76.2% for content or material validation so that it declare to get the “feasible” predicate. Likewise for practicality standards, MMBGSuite also received a percentage score of 80.6% from teachers and 85.4% from school principals indicating that this model is easy to use and practical. The results of this study indicate that the Gsuite-based monitoring model (MMBGSuite) can provide solutions to facilitate school principals in carrying out supervision and controlling the quality of the academic activities when distance learning was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic.
