Abstract

Abstract—The study introduced the concept of countries' digital development in the field of supply chain management (SCM) from the perspective of participation in global supply chains (GSC). A SWOT analysis of the proposed concept was performed, according to which, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the nation's involvement in GSCs were denoted. This research outlined the necessity for creating approaches and programs to ensure the logistics sector's digital growth for developed and developing nations and reduce modern unlevelled threats. The present study statistically verified the hypothesis that the improvement in the country's digital development contributes to the increase in its participation in GSCs. Within the research, indicators that determine the country's digital development in the context of SCM were selected. On their basis, digital profiles of the Russian Federation, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, and Cambodia were created and compared. As a result, the study disclosed competitive strategies in international trade for the countries under consideration. This research presented ways to strengthen the nations' competitive position in the world market and increase their digital competitiveness.

Abstract

absorptive capacity (ABC) develops the effectives of external resource for the consistent comparative advantage which in turn helps in the enhancement of supply chain resilience (SCR). ABS is considered as a crucial factor of SCR as it permits the success of obtaining, integrating, altering, and manipulating the external information. The existence of ABC is essential for turning the collude relationships into positive ending. The purpose of present study is to re-explore the relationship between social capital (SCK) and SCR by incorporating the mediating role of ABC. For this purpose, the study collected the data from 193 employees of textile industry. Data are collected through questionnaire. Study applies structural equational modeling (SEM) approach for analyzing the empirical results. study used measurement model for testing the reliability and validity of the data. study applied structural model for testing proposed hypotheses. Finally, path analysis is conducted for testing the direct and indirect relationship among variables. Results of the study showed the positive relationship between SCK and SCR. Results further show that this positive relationship is significantly mediated by ABC. Results of the study suggests that the managers of the firm should subsidize the social capital of firm through absorptive capacity. Study further suggests that the managers of the firm can collaborate with other firms, it will enhance the SCK, which in turn effect SCR positively.

Abstract

Brand Experience can be the most privileged tool for differentiation in today’s highly competitive marketplace. Customer’s feeling, emotion and interactions will contribute to the overall perception of the brand experience. Undoubtedly, it is critical to gain insights into the key drivers of brand experience and subsequently ascertain its outcomes in order to design effective marketing strategies for market growth and perhaps business sustainability. The principal aim was to develop an integrative novelty model of brand experience and examine the predictors and outcomes of brand experiences of fast food brand share in Malaysia.  The study applies SOR Model (Mehrabian-Russell, 1974), and other related branding models to a sample of 450 adult respondents who reside in chosen urban areas in Malaysia. The study has used a survey approach with self-administered questionnaire distributed in restaurants, offices and homes. Structural equation modelling was utilized to test the hypothesized relationships among the constructs, as postulated in the model. The measure employed in this study were rigorously assessed and purified initially via item analysis and exploratory factor analysis and subsequently refined by confirmatory factor analysis. It is reasonable to claim that they have adequately met the unidimensionality, validity and reliability criteria applied. Nine of the hypothesized links were supported and three rejected. Result of hypothesis model acceptable fit was CMIN/DF=3.45, RMSEA=0.074, GFI=0.931, CFI=0.958 and IFI=0.959. Ultimately, the study’s primary goal of developing an integrative model that has statistical and explanatory power, which could permit interpretation of results confidently, was achieved. Hence, the current investigation unequivocally illuminates several key contributions to the marketing theory, chained fast food industry practitioners and government bodies. Firstly, it exemplifies that ‘Product Quality’ is the key driver of the predictors of brand experience. Secondly, service quality and store image are not significant predictors of customers’ brand experience with the chained fast food brand. Thirdly, the findings suggest that brand experience is not significant predictor of customer’s commitment towards chained fast food brand. Finally, the current investigation confirms that trust was the most influential predictor on resonance and commitment is also revealed to be a significant predictor of resonance, but of a smaller magnitude compared to trust.  Discussions of the results are provided along with contributions for the fast food industry and government and suggestions for future research.

Abstract

The relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI), current account, and economic growth is a subject that always attracts the attention of researchers with studies that focus on both developed and developing countries. Many studies have shown that FDI has a positive effect on the growth of countries. However, this capital also brings some risks. Therefore, this study evaluates the relationship between foreign direct investment, current account, and economic growth in Vietnam. Using the VECM method combined with the Bayesian stability test, the research results have shown that, in both the short and long term, FDI and current accounts positively affect Vietnam’s economic growth. Based on research results, we propose policy implications to minimize the negative effects of FDI inflows and make the most of this capital source for the sustainable economic development of Vietnam.

Abstract

Recently, the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for delivery services has become a topic of interest and research for large commercial service providers such as Google and Amazon. The delivery speed of UAVs provides such companies with a significant advantage in their market. Although utilizing the UAVs in product delivery has received tremendous excitement, several issues need to be resolved prior to real-world implementation. The first issue with using UAVs as a transportation mode is their limited flying range. Small UAVs are not able to fly long distances due to their limited battery life. Flight range can be improved by using battery swapping stations in the planning horizon. UAVs can replace their depleted batteries at these stations and continue their fights. In our research, we attempt to develop a model to construct a network of such stations in order to enable the UAVs to fly long distances for making deliveries to far-reaching demand points. In addition, we develop a Tabu-Search heuristic to solve several instances of the proposed problem.

Abstract

Abstract— This article was aimed at forming an idea of companies’ portfolios applying high technologies in the process of modern supply chain insurance business digitalization. For this aim, the analysis of Russian and Azerbaijan insurance markets and the dynamics of their gradual implementation of online technologies was carried out. To compile an objective picture of the current market situation, two insurance firms, namely, AlfaStrakhovanie and Mango Insurance Company, were selected for the research. As part of the analysis, the study examined the supply chain insurance structure of the AlfaStrakhovanie Company. Within the present research, the features of its regulation and diversification were highlighted. Moreover, the study outlined the work specifics of new insurance companies and InsurTech startups in domestic realities. Despite higher possibilities of supply chain disruptions, enterprises in APAC exhibit lesser investment in the supply chain industry because of their lack of knowledge on the same and their reluctance to pay high premiums. The obtained results were based on the Markowitz portfolio optimization model and allowed creating the optimal supply chain structure of the insurance company’s portfolio, taking into account the risks associated with the use of modern technologies.

Abstract

Despite the undeniable importance role of public universities in educating the Malaysian citizens, the universities these days are struggling to generate wealth for their own development. Generating wealth is becoming one of the important strategy for public universities as the allocation from the federal government for their operating expenditures has been drastically reduced. In fact, this strategy has been clearly outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025. Despite this significant reduction of source of income, the universities have to find a way to overcome this challenge by becoming more efficient and effective in their services to the stakeholders by becoming leaner. Lean universities will remove the existing waste or non-value added activities in many aspects in the universities' operations, which would yield higher returns and savings. In addition to lean, universities have also the responsibility to protect the environment. As a matter of fact, lean and green practices, share the same objective - that is to reduce waste. However, studies on lean and green universities is rather scarce. Even though there are evidences that these two concepts can be integrated, the synergy between the two concepts has yet to be discovered. This paper will elaborate on how lean and green can be integrated and the potential benefits towards sustainable higher education institutions performances.

Abstract

This article examines how child labour can be eliminated from various supply chains in Bangladesh. Reinforcing this issue is important to comply with international labour standards on child labour and to avoid potential trade sanctions of various types. Drawing upon the examples of other mechanisms to implement international labour standards particularly in a situation when domestic initiatives remain largely ineffective, it is argued that various local and international actors in the supply chains have a key role to play in actively enforcing this international standard to help support an economy free from the curse of child labour. This article proposes that an international legally binding agreement among global importers, unions, and local stakeholders to improve the child labour situation may provide the best mechanism to eliminate this problem from various supply chains in Bangladesh.
