Abstract

This research is aimed to conduct an empirital test on supply chain herding behavior of domestic investors in capital market in Indonesia by assuming that supply chain herding behavior is affected by the social effect of established investors and the informative effect of information regarding Earning Per Share (EPS) value. Motivation behind this research is a concern that many investors often make mistakes repeatedly in their investment decision, which later it forces them to suffer a great loss. This phenomenon is explained using Behavioral Finance Theory. The theory says that while making decision to invest, investors are affected more by irrational factor than rational factor. Research method was using 2x2 factorial experiment design that involved two factors and two indicators in each factor. The effect of two factors and also two indicators in each factor, either partially or simultaneously, on supply chain herding behavior in investment decision was tested. Data were collected by giving treatment to 100 investors. The collected data were processed for testing the hypothesis. Data analysis was done by determining mean difference value across the groups and examining the effect of independent variable on dependent variable.  Result of research shows that the social effect of the established investors who are skilled in investment analysis is more dominant and significant on investors’ decision to invest than the informative effect of information regarding EPS value. The implication of this result is that investors need to understand their psychological condition and strengthen their investment analysis skill. It is suggested that the next research should use biased psychology as variable or other indicator of accounting information that influences investment decision.

Abstract

The Ottoman Empire developed from a frontier principality to become the most powerful empire in the world by 1566. It conquered lands and countries in three continents, covering and area of approximately 978,000 square miles at time of Süleyman the Magnificent. The most significant conquest, without a doubt, was the capture of Constantinople in 1453 by Mehmet the Conqueror, which marked the end of the Eastern Roman Empire. Historians characterize this event as the end of middle ages. Many historians agree that the Ottomans’ success depended to a large extent on their ability to amply supply provisions and weapons to their soldiers. They also provided plentiful food for their animals which were the main transport means. In other words, although soldiers, Janissaries and cavalry, won battles, the supply chain and logistics of the Ottoman Army made it possible. To the best of the knowledge of the author of this manuscript, there is very little research on how militaries of the middle Ages supplied and logistically supported their soldiers and animals. This paper provides an example of how one of those militaries accomplished it. This research is based on published books and articles by prominent historians and covers the period of 1300 to 1566. It concludes that the basic principles used by the Ottoman Army for their supply chain and logistical activities are still valid today and used by excellent modern supply and logistics systems.

Abstract

The study was aimed at analyzing determinants of smallholders’ beef cattle market participation and quantity supplied to the market in Toke Kutaye and Bako Tibe Districts, West Shewa Zone, Oromia National Regional State, Ethiopia. The primary data for this study were collected from 376 sampled household producers by using interview schedule, site visit and personal observation. Data analysis was made using descriptive and inferential statistics and heckman two-step selection model. The results of the heckman two-step selection model indicated that beef cattle market participation and quantity supplied to the market is significantly determined by education level, household size, using veterinary services, grazing land owned, selling price of cattle, frequency of farmer gets market information, body condition of cattle and total number of cattle owned. It was concluded that there is poor market information and infrastructure, lack of access to services and weak linkage of producers with next actors. Access to market information and infrastructure and veterinary services improves market participation and supplying of cattle. Therefore, the required recommendations were improving farmers’ access to market information and infrastructure by improving linkages between the producers and service provider institutions, creating strong horizontal and vertical linkage between the farmers and other chain actors and enabling them to produce market oriented products and supplying to the market.

Abstract

Abstract The present research and model is aimed at presenting an integrated multi-objective optimal supply chain model of Sepah Bank's green supply chain in terms of model uncertainty using meta-heuristic algorithms and providing a suitable conceptual framework. In this regard, a multi-objective optimization model is presented and solved using fireworks algorithms based on Pareto Archive and NSGA-II. The green banking phenomenon has emerged with the same purpose in the banking system of the world and today it has made significant progress in theoretical and operational aspects. The interesting thing is that Islamic banking is not indifferent to this issue and it has a special focus on green banking under ethical banking.  Given the likelihood of larger environmental crises occurring in Iran, this responsibility for the Iranian banking system will be felt more tangibly. What is important is that the critical conditions of the future environmental trends in the country require that green banking be considered. In this paper, the Green Supply Chain of Sepah Bank is examined and modeled, which includes the three levels of Central Bank, Sepah Bank Branches and Investment Centers. The proposed model has three goals based on sustainability (economic, social and environmental). This model is solved using two fireworks algorithms and NSGA-II and the results of the two algorithms are compared based on quality, uniformity and diversity indices. Modeling results showed that the fireworks algorithm was more capable of exploring and extracting the solvable area than the NSGA-II algorithm. The NSGA-II algorithm also produces higher uniformity responses than the fireworks algorithm in less time.

Abstract

Ports as key of transportation network, the gate of economy activities, transportational mode transition center, site of distribution, production, and consolidation of goods and services, and a place that highly related with routine industrial, agricultural, tourism, and commercial activities. Its important roles in commercial field are as chain of transportation (transportation system) which is a series of goods movement from sender to the receiver or customer that involves various of transportational mode transitions. Are the activities conducted related with supply and chain in ports are already in harmony from the perspective of regulations? Should these ports be re-serviced to improve its performance as a part of supply and chain management? The utilized method in this research is a normative method, with a descriptive analysis by utilizing secondary and primary data. The result of this research reveals that the implemented policy is not in harmony with the available resource in the field, and caused unoptimum output. Because of that, a cooperation between the available human resources in the policy implementation is vital to improve the sector’s contribution towards the national economy, where ports are placed as an accelerator of physical and economical development. Port reservice is a requirement to improve the inconducive and unprofessional Indonesian ports that contribute on ineffective and inefficient service performance. Indonesian ports should organize its performance by improving their tools as supporting facilities and infrastructures. If the available funding is insufficient, port management is recommended to invite both domestic or foreign investors to provide capital investments.
