Abstract

This study aims to explore criteria for recruiting qualified personnel in logistics companies in Vietnam and apply these criteria into practical recruitment case by using a multiple decision-making method suggested by the authors. To explore recruitment criteria, the survey sample includes 224 logistics companies operating in one of the largest cities in Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City. Cronbach’s Alpha testing methods and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to test and build measurement scales are utilized. In addition, multiple linear regression method was used to find out the influence on recruitment selection decision. The research results show that there are four criteria affecting the decision to recruit qualified personnel including skills, knowledge, health, and personality traits. These criteria are then applied into personnel selection by using analytic hierarchy process method to select the best candidate. The paper offers practical help to industrial practitioners on their recruitment activities.

Abstract

Present study aims to investigate the impact of ecological factors; GDP growth rate (GGR), degree of openness (DOO), exchange rate (EXR) and balance of payment (BOP) on foreign direct investment (FDI). Study also examines the effect of FDI on the performance of nationwide supply chain (NSCP). Moreover, study examines mediating role of FDI on the relationship between GGR, DOO, EXR and BOP. For this purpose, study utilized the data of 123 ecologists of Thailand through an online questionnaire. Study applies structural equational modeling (SEM) for examining the empirical results. Study tests the reliability and validity of the data with the help of measurement model while structural model is used for testing the hypothesis. Results of the study show positive impact of DOO, GRR, EXR and BOP on FDI. Results further show significant and positive relationship between FDI and NSCP. Findings reveal that FDI significantly mediates the relationship between GGR, DOO, BOP and NSCB. While the relationship between EXR and NSCB is not mediated by FDI. Study suggested that companies have to start different investment programs for attracting the foreigners so that they can invest their money in the company.

Abstract

— The future trend in the field of management is the increasingly applied analytic data in every management decision, both for development and investment. Data submitted by companies are processed and evaluated by investors. However, the calculation pattern that is done is still based on financial analysis. This paper is intended to develop an analytic data framework that can be used by CEOs or investors in managing and valuing an industry. The research methodology used is using historical data in the Company's annual reports for the past five years and calculate it using SEM-PLS. This data is then entered into the analytic data framework and then being evaluated to get the essential resources or critical processes that have a strategic position or value in the industry. This research is using textile industry data. In the textile industry, it is found that the critical strategic resources are raw materials that significantly affect the Company's performance. This key finding is in line with the development of technology in raw material in the textile industry. This analysis method is intended to complement existing financial-based analyses that has been done for a long time. With this new analysis framework, the CEO and Investor will get a new perspective on the industry and take advantage of additional information from its result.

Abstract

In a sharp competition, the global SCM (Supply Chain Management) is based on the globalization of free trade following a liberal principle, which is appropriate to "let the market go" motto and to the removal of government interference. But, the upheavals of the world economy, the hybridization between economic and political sectors, and protectionist ambition. Impact repositories, rationalities, and the forms at management and control of transnational flows. Speaking thus of the economic warfare (EW) "long accepted badly at the ideological level" [1] like mutation or reality already concrete of the international market. In direct opposition with several theories presenting free trade as the most profitable system, among others: The theory of absolute advantage, and the theory of the comparative advantage of A. Smith and Ricardo. The purpose of our article is to propose a Supply Chain Economic Management (SCEM) which takes into account the internal and external environment of the SCM, as well as the forms of the EW, while outlining the possible outcomes of SCM to deal with the impacts of this war.

Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the nature of halal risk management by focusing on the advent of online business. Globally, there is a growing trend of halal trading activities from inbound to outbound stages in a virtual marketplace utilising the advancement of online technology. With reference to MS 2400: 2010, an organization must establish a Halalan-Toyyiban Risk Management Plan (HTRMP) following the principles outlined in the standard. This means, beside Halal, the elements for Toyyib should also be considered during risk management, namely the physical, chemical and biological aspects. However, as the Halal items or services originated and processed from all parts of the world, the question of whether these products are genuinely Halal lingers in the minds of the Halal consumers especially among the Muslim communities. Thus, with the complexity of the current world virtual trade scenario, we found the Halal consumers are bound to be sceptical on whether the particular items or products being traded are indeed produced in accordance with the Halal principles and Sharia law or whether it can be construed as Halal when it has to undergo various interfaces in its entire cycle of logistics. The impact of the technology is heavily depending upon the awareness. And the relationship between different stakeholders during the process is another main cause of the risks.

Abstract

Abstract— During past twenty years, knowledge integration and product development process, have been considered as two critical strategies for new product development process. The two mentioned strategies were the main focus of industry and also academicians as well as many practitioners). The most significant similarity among the investigations on this integration strategy is the focus on organizations as unit of analysis and in some cases, the investigations was in project level in order to have more accurate and detail results. But in this study we considered project phase and the unit of analysis to be able to take into account the project and different phase’s characteristics. In this way we will be able to find more relevant and practical results for integration different source of knowledge, in different phases of new product development. We analysed 125 new product development projects from total 85 manufacturing firms, which have implemented at least one form of external collaboration among their NPD projects, within 8 different industries in Spain. To make these analysis we used fsQCA method and our finding show that by involving different types of knowledge sources in different phase of NPD projects, the companies may achieved to different level of Cost, Market, Speed and product Novelty performance and these configurations are very between different projects.

Abstract

The world is facing many environmental problems such as global warming due to high demand of energy use, especially our dependency on fossil fuels. The Malaysian government has introduced various policies and programs to promote alternative green energy solutions such as solar energy to address this issue. However, social acceptance of solar energy could influence the feasibility of the energy as an alternative to satisfy the rising demand. Drawing from research survey and the academic literature, this paper explores the factors that could influence social acceptance of residential solar energy project in Malaysia. Data for this study were collected through a survey in Taiping, Perak; a city recognized as the top three most sustainable in the world by the International Tourismus-Börse in 2019. A total of 240 questionnaires were collected from the respondents in Taiping and the data were analysed using descriptive and correlation analysis. This study reveals that knowledge is able to determine society’s perception and change their opposition towards solar energy. In addition, high cost could hinder society’s acceptance of solar energy, thus their willingness to switch to the energy.

Abstract

Through a correlative comparative analysis, the purpose of this study is to utilize LP and the data accumulated between (2009- 2017) to investigate the optimality of the current transportation strategy of actual costs to transport major Jordanian exports and imports. Study findings reveal that current exporting and importing strategies are ineffective. Results assert that decision-makers have not developed nor have taken the required action needed to resolve excessive expenditures. The current study poses some implications and recommendations as a strategic technique within decision-making paradigms to utilize effective decision making to minimize transportation costs.
