Abstract

Nowadays, in daily operations have to alert about the lean production that would be effect of the whole of production management. Lean production is one of the main successful management in operations to keep maintain the organization reputation and its ready to compete the globally in manufacturing firm. The objective of lean production is to make the operation process become smoothly of processing items, reduced waste and successful in every target. However, many organizations fail to apply the lean concepts in their operations. Therefore, this study attempted to examine the relationship between lean production (LP) and three dimensions which are transportation, quality and communication. This study employed quantitative study using questionnaire. Data was collected from 45 employees that chosen by expertise in production and the data was analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS). This study hoped to make new understanding on the important to apply lean concept in production management.

Abstract

The study presents an integrative framework of brand love co-creation with theoretical underpinnings in joint with digital customer experiential creation of brand love. Main idea of this framework are brand love platforms entailing both relational activities and offerings, at the intersection of joint parties of experiential co-creators (whether in their role as customers) and co-creational enterprises as organizing the practice of brand love co-creation (whether in their role as innovating or marketing offerings or managing network relations). Using one illustrative examples of NEXT as an example of brand, the study discusses how brand love co-creation can be leverage through digital brand engagement platforms. Subsequently, using three independent variables, social-self, brand image and brand trust the study try to discuss the concept of co-creational enterprises as a nexus of co-creational digital platforms of engagements, and elaborate upon the organizational practice of brand love co-creation in a digitalized world. From the findings the study concludes with several implications for future brand research.

Abstract

Many perceptions from environmental studies were claimed that environmental pollution in Malaysia is due to the failure of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) among Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs). There is a need to see an effective strategy to overcome the GSCM failures or to improve the GSCM in SMEs. Since, "green supply chain management (GSCM)" was introduced as a driver for sustainable performance in environmental preservations achievement throughout the supply chain. The objective of this study is to identify the key of performance for GSCM measurement in SMEs. Analysed the quantitative data by SPSS and the results show 2 factors affect the performance namely GSCM Benefits and Critical Success factor. Consumer safety contributed significantly in GSCM benefits while, high satisfaction of customers and business partners in SCs contributed significantly in critical success factor. Based on both factor of GSCM performance, this study developed a model for GSCM improvements by Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method development toward sustainability performance (Environment, Economy and Social) and operational factor has been found at the end of the result as a complementary for the improvements. In terms of the sustainability performance impact, the result of Quality Functions Deployment (QFD) found that social is the most important parameter for GSCM improvement in Malaysias manufacturing SMEs followed by the economy, operational, and environment. Finally, this study has concluded that emphasizing the social factor is much help for reduce the environmental pollution in Malaysia and achieves the sustainability performance in the industry as well.

Abstract

This paper conceptualizes the innovative supply chain integration and business performance of aquaculture contract farming setting in Malaysia. Based on the SCM philosophy, it highlights three related variables of supply chain integration, namely: external integration with suppliers, external integration with customers and supply chain risks, and technological innovation, and the relation amongst the variables in focus that could produce promising business performance. Hence, ability to conceptualize, observe and give due recognition to the possible relation amongst these variables in question by the prospective aquaculture contract farming participants that could bring about an insightful engagement for the betterment of the aquaculture business performance.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the factors that influence the Malaysian Army logistics performance and the role of process capability. In addition, this study also attempts to examine the role of learning capability between the military environmental dynamism and process capability. It also attempt to include strategic logistics alliances on the relationship between the process capability and the Malaysian Army logistics performance. Since this study is also focusing on how organizational learning capability and process capability play a role in achieving logistics performance, a more comprehensive conceptual framework is required. This research therefore is expected to fill the research gap by developing a new theoretical conceptual model by tying up three theories including dynamic capability, organizational learning, and social exchange theories.

Abstract

According to the Malaysian Government Transformation Programme, transportation is one of the national priority areas and plays a significant role in the country’s well-being and has contributed much to the development and improvement of the economic, social, political and cultural conditions of the nation. The role and contribution of transportation is very important in strategic business and it is also one of the key focal points in the Eleventh Malaysia Plan for 2016 to 2020. Moving forward, while the prospects for Malaysia’s logistics industry are positive, there is still much room for improvement in terms of business performance. Most companies selling or producing goods require facilitating agencies such as third-party logistics (3PL) providers to assist them in transporting their products and services from one destination to another until they reach the end customer. Therefore, this study focuses on a review of the literature on innovation capability and business performance among 3PL service providers in Malaysia. This study focuses on four attributes of innovation capability: (i) service innovation, (ii) process innovation, (iii) marketing innovation and (iv) management innovation. It contributes to the body of knowledge in this field by identifying the significant factors that influence innovativeness that will lead to a higher level of business performance among 3PL providers in Malaysia. Its findings also useful to 3PL practitioners and policy-makers, particularly in Malaysia and the Asian region.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to propose an innovation adoption framework in the context of halal transportation. This paper provides a discussion on the development of halal transportation adoption framework using Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework insight with literature. Currently, the issues on halal transportation adoption have still not been resolved even though several motivational factors have been identified to gain the attention from potential adopters. This paper further proposes innovation adoption factors for halal transportation. It consists of two internal organizational dimensions, namely: firm size and customer orientation. In addition, this paper also explains the roles that firm size and customer orientation can play on halal transportation adoption. Halal transportation adoption framework is important to halal logistics providers as it gives a significant input to the adoption of their services. Overall, this paper contributes to a newly-developed innovation adoption framework in the context of halal transportation.

Abstract

Transportation service provided as social responsibility in many country including Malaysia should always be safe and perceived as safe by everyone. However, many studies had found that the increasing level of crime had cause the level of fear increase as well. Thus this had effected the ridership drop on almost all public transport usage especially taxi. Therefore it is the main intention of this paper to look at the different factors affecting the level of safety indication among taxi users in urban area. The paper provide an overview of the factors explaining on how different level of travel satisfaction through a quantitative research method where a personal administered survey was conducted among the taxi users who is living and commuting to the city center using taxi service. One of the significant findings shows that certain element such as driver attitude, age and technology indicate a significant roles as travel safety indicator. As this study only focus in urban area in Klang Valley, therefore the finding cannot be generalize to other area. Among the implication of the findings is that, future planner should take into consideration all factors that could possibly create a low signal of safety level among taxi users. This paper highlight the fear reduction model through a Malaysian empirical evidence which hold a high level of novelty where the application is suitable in Malaysian context urban travelers especially when reducing level of fear among taxi users is concern.

Abstract

This article integrates the concept of leap frogging strategy and digitalization as a key strategy for the sustainability of logistics players in facing up with GIG economy. At present, business organization are moving towards Industry 5.0 (internet of thought) and GIG economy where the traditional way of fully relying on full time workers are no longer relevant. The world of work is changing. From organizational view, leap frogging strategy with technological advancement are significant to achieve competitive advantage to ensure the continuity of business. While from worker perspective, having technology driven talent is a must to face new business economy called as GIG economy. In other words, all workers in every industry including logistics should ensure they have technology driven talent in his/her portfolio to remain competitive in the working world. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the applicability of Industry 5.0 such as digitalization and mobile marketing to logistics players; to make them more visible to customer and competitor. Single case study method was adopted to study on the perspective as discussed above more in-depth. Findings from this single case study is transferable as it provides rich explanation and discussion from one of the earliest logistics company in Malaysia, with logistics experience almost five (5) decades in providing logistics services. The qualitative findings pointed out four key areas for LSP improvement. Firstly, all LSPs should go for transition process with their business model to provide them with new revenue - logistics digital business and allow them to be more visible to their customer by fully utilizing the promotion activities online. Secondly, every agreement with customer should be put into contract and it is paperless within system. Thirdly, digital payment is a must to all logistics players to practice in order for them to compete in digital era. Finally, and inevitability, to sustain in the business, logistics may move to become intelligent logistics players with carrying no asset and just focus on negotiating contracts with customers. This term refers to practising logistics players with no assets or less assets centric. In principle, the company does not own asset but able to provide logistics services (for example fleet and warehouses) by aggregating “information about assets” from people who do own them by leveraging on data. This article contributes to the logistics study by matching issue on digitalization and GIG economy in logistics sector. More work on future of logistics is needed with large sample across the globe in order to obtain more data to help the logistics players depict themselves in new economy.
