Abstract

The main purpose of agile development methods is to reduce risks leading to a more successful and effective information system. In fact, analysing priorities, finding and identifying risks are important activities in all development approaches, including Agile development. However, some studies seek to assess risk management based on agile global software development (GSD) and provide mitigation measures to address specific risks. The risk mitigation technique for good development for sustainable development is expected to be designed to achieve time efficiency improvements to obtain greater resources at lower cost and thereby gain and maintain a competitive advantage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate impact of transformational and transactional leadership on employees’ creativity and employee empowerment in this association. Over the past many decades, employees have become an organizing way of coordinating work within organization. This trend creates new challenges for leaders, as they are expected to improve their creativity simultaneously. This study proposes a conceptual framework for understanding leadership styles and employees’ empowerment to individual employees which would influence creativity. The conceptual framework includes employees’ empowerment and support for creativity as mediating variables in the effect of leadership styles on employees’ creativity. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using a second-order confirmatory factor analysis technique, namely, structural equations modeling, with the data collected from 597 followers from four e-government organizations in the UAE. The findings suggest that transformational and transactional leadership has significant positive impact on employees’ creativity. Moreover, employees’ empowerment have partial mediation effect in the relationship between leadership styles and employees’ creativity. This study contributes to the research that identifies employees’ creativity influenced by transformational and transactional leadership that can affect employee success and performance, particularly in the context of UAE-based egovernment organizations.

Abstract

Malaysia currently accounts for 39% of world palm oil production and 44% of world exports. Being one of the biggest producers of palm oil, Malaysia has an important role to play in fulfilling the global demand for palm oil. With the growing global demand for palm oil, Malaysian Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) have embarked on the expansion of palm oil plantations by venturing into cross border palm oil plantation ventures including Indonesia. Nonetheless, the cross border venture may not an easy project, as the MNEs have encountered unprecedented challenges. Currently, land conflict in palm oil plantation ventures in Indonesia is one of the main impediments for Malaysian MNEs implementing investment in Indonesia. This issue if not resolved can lead to the failure of the MNEs’ investment and may affect FDI flows into Indonesia. The main objective of this paper is to examine the case law litigation and related information elicited from qualitative sources and interviews with relevant persons involving land issues in carrying out palm oil plantation ventures in Indonesia by Sime Darby Plantation Berhad (‘SDPB’)(being a subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad). Qualitative social and legal research methodologies were used in this writing. From this writing, certain information can be generated to illustrate the problems and their causes arising from land conflict in palm oil plantation ventures in Indonesia and the approaches that have been undertaken by the investors to deal with the problems. The findings of the writing will add knowledge to relevant persons in understanding the dynamic challenges that are faced by Malaysian MNEs in its internationalization of palm oil plantation ventures.

Abstract

To relate the control limits of Shewhart-type chart to the p-value, the control charting techniques were constructed based on statistical inference scheme. However, in daily practice of complex process variability (CPV) monitoring operation, these limits have nothing to do with the p-value. We cannot put any number to p. Instead, p is just read as “most probably”. These words mean that in practice we are finally working under data analysis scheme instead. For this reason, in this paper we introduce the application of STATIS in CPV monitoring operation. It is a data analysis method to label the sample(s) where anomalous covariance structure occurs. This method is algebraic in nature and dominated by principal component analysis (PCA) principles. The relative position of a covariance matrix among others is visually presented along the first two eigenvalues of the so-called “scalar product matrix among covariance matrices”. Its strength will be illustrated by using a real industrial example and the results, compared with those given by the current methods, are very promising. Additionally, root causes analysis is also provided. However, since STATIS is a PCA-like, it does not provide any control chart, i.e., the history of process performance. It is to label the anomalous sample(s). To the knowledge of the authors, the application of STATIS in complex statistical process control is an unprecedented. Thus, it will enrich the literature of this field.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to construct an Augmented Dynamic Model of Job Creation for Malaysian Manufacturing Sector. The previous studies on job creation model focus on the static model where the job creation influenced by real wages, real output, assets, expenditure of research and development (R&D), lag of R&D, export and foreign labour. However, the aggregate rate of unemployment in Malaysia could not explain the dynamic of labour market. The dynamic of labour market can be explained more precisely through the formula of job flows (including job creation and job destruction). Therefore, in this study, the augmented dynamic model of job creation constructed by added several variables including interaction variables. The augmented dynamic model of job creation is developed by using GMM model based on data 2005 to 2015 for Malaysian manufacturing sector. The augmented model of job creation is expected to be effective and informative guide policy maker to face unemployment rate especially Malaysia. This augmented model can portray a real situation of labour market and help the government as well as policy maker to plan of Malaysian economics in the future.

Abstract

Values are important in influencing our principles’ and behaviors and help to create positive values in our daily life. Thus, values in Islam are vital as a guide for Muslims to be good Muslims and form better societies. These values are based on the Syariah principles which can be found in the Holy Quran which is the main reference acts as a foundation for Muslims hereafter. Occasionally, Muslims do not realize that the good things that they do in their daily activities are considered as good values from the Islamic perspective i.e. Islamic values. Thus, the current business environment of the food supply chain focusing on the poultry industry has been chosen due to the highest food consumption in Malaysia. This study found that research assessing the Islamic values and halal supply chain has received relatively little attention in the literature. Therefore, this study attempts to fill the gap by assessing the Islamic values in the halal supply chain of the poultry industry. This study focuses on the existing poultry supply chain and underlying Islamic values that exist which may assist the implementation of the halal supply chain to be resilience and sustainable in the future. The study used a qualitative approach in which deployed an in-depth interview from a case study. The case study focused on the final stage of the supply chain which is retailers’ premises.

Abstract

The purchasing power in Yemen is gradually decreasing due to the increase in products cost and required an instant solution to meet the demand of the consumers. increase in energy prices and continuous inflation of the national currency presents several challenges to manufacturer interested in competing in the local market, in order to keep up with the market they should make changes that make improvements in products etc. low-cost package, production, and transportation a top priority for product development. In this research study the author attempt to use quantitative and qualitative research method, plan and execute fieldwork, collecting data form products’ local market, local factories (Arwa plastic industry), the ministry of industry & trade, etc. in Yemen, during fieldwork. During data collection and fieldwork, the author will visit the ministry of industry and trade to meet the representative to get the requested data of local industries and imports of raw materials for products packaging, then the author will visit capital city of Yemen (Sana’a) ,Taiz and Hodeida industrial zones to meet the representative of local factories to collect the data of products’ packaging raw materials along with the local market, after that the author will visit a local plastic production factory (Arwa plastic industry ltd) to support the study of changing over from rigid heavy packaging to adaptable packaging . The author will also prepare a research questionnaire for manufacturer and customers to substantiate the research with evidence. Finally, the author will visit Yemen General Union of heavy Transport, to collect data of road freight. Finally, after collecting required data, the author will analyse and identify the extent of the manufacturer ability to switch from traditional heavy packaging’s to the most convenient product in terms of weight, ease of manufacturing without the need for a lot of energy, In addition to its lightweight suitable to provide less transport value and space because of the flexibility of the product as well as the extent to which the customer accepts the new product that suits his income and expectations, also preserving the environment from pollution. After analysing data and identifying findings, the author found that if the manufacturer shift to flexible, lightweight products’ packages can reduce fright and storage costs significantly as well as retail prices.
