Abstract

Jordan is employing major reforms in education sector. Not least of these innovations is the Building for basic education schools aims to improve the learning environment. Construction of such new schools are already going ahead in numerous areas of the Jordan. Although, the construction industry is a key player in the economy, creating both, employment and wealth, yet numerous projects experience extensive delays and thus surpass initial time and cost estimates. The most collective causes were appraised by using both, the data collected in a survey steered to residential projects consultant engineers, contractors, and owners, and interviews with senior professionals in the field, so supply chain strategy among them is the most important issue. Most correspondents established that, monetary difficulties faced by the contractor and too many change orders by the owner are the foremost causes of construction deferment. Stern weather states and changes in government regulations and laws categorized among the least important causes. To illustrate the implementation of the classification impact index model and to evaluate and quantify change orders impact on contractor’s cash flow, a case study is presented in this paper using data of real case study obtained from reputable construction company in Jordan involved in the construction of basic education school building. The project commenced from November 2012 till December 2013.

Abstract

Material flow accounting in supply chain management is a complex process for enterprises, regardless of industry and activities. Its use will enable companies to identify inefficiencies in the use of resources, as well as to assess the assets in terms of their durability, functionality, usefulness. Enterprises face many challenges in material flow accounting, and one of them is material flow accounting of stocks in the supply chain management. The organization has material losses in the absence of a coherent system of material flow accounting. The purpose of this study is to study the features of material flow accounting for the efficient supply chain management, to determine the effective systems of material flow accounting. We propose to use the MFCA system to account for material flow. It can be used to estimate material losses in the supply chain in terms of money and determine the economic benefits of resource efficiency. The MFCA methodology is regulated by the ISO standard. The article describes the process of material flow accounting at the studied enterprise in a specific example. It explains how to construct a methodological accounting framework to estimate resource losses from the economic point of view. We have systematized information on automated systems and programs for material flow accounting for the efficient supply chain management. A model of material flow accounting in accordance with ISO 14051 is developed and proposed for Alliance Oil Company. It is found that the production of gasoline produces a significant amount of by-products and waste. Only by-products, which are about 36 percent, are recorded under normal accounting. However, the use of MFCA has shown that most of the costs associated with material losses due to recycling products, waste, etc. In the study, we have compiled the matrix of material flow to Alliance Oil Company and found that the costs can be upgraded to material losses. In this case, they are $3930. $1130 is the estimated cost of electricity and the system cost of the refinery.

Abstract

The relevance is due to the variability and incompleteness of modern tax legislation, which results in increased attention to the problems of applying tax rules with the use of analogy as a key technique for overcoming legal lacunae. The objective is to enhance the development of the doctrinal frameworks for the practice of applying the analogy of law and to identify the peculiarities of the implementation of this tool in the area of tax. The methodological framework involves general scientific (analysis and synthesis, abstraction and concretization) and special research methods (comparative legal, formal legal, technical legal, teleological). The method of analogy is both the key tool and the object of study. Arguments are presented supporting the suitability of the method of analogy for use in tax law. The application of tax legislation by analogy has been substantiated to not only permissible, but also necessary for the proper protection of taxpayers’ rights and counteracting infringement of fiscal interests. The necessity of introducing measures of deterrence of law enforcer’s discretion when using the analogy in the impact of tax law is revealed. The arguments against the direct regulatory legalization of the analogy in the tax law are presented. The work contributes to the enhancement of the general doctrinal provisions on the application of the analogy of law and serves as the basis for creating special parameters for applying this tool in taxation.

Abstract

The concerns of dwindling food supply and over dependence on imported foods in Nigeria, especially in the face of dwindling foreign exchange, has prompted attention of experts on how to improve production and marketing of home-grown local food crops. The study assessed the quality characteristics and price preferences of consumers of Cowpea in the Niger State, Nigeria. The study adopted the survey design using quantitative research strategy. Primary data was collected from 600 famers over a 30-month period through the instrumentality of questionnaire. Hedonic price model was used to estimate the relationship between price and cowpea characteristics, and the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) analytical technique to investigate the impact of intrinsic characteristics on price in five varieties of cowpea. The regression analysis revealed that the respective value of R2 for Chanchaga markets is 0.72 and Bida markets is 0.77 which means that 72% and 77% of changes in the price of cowpea is explained by the changes in quality characteristics of cowpea in each market. The results indicated that consumer valued high protein content, sucrose content and dry matter content as the most important attributes as such they attracted higher prices. The study recommends among others that increase in protein content would make cowpea more attractive for the food industry and will have a positive impact on consumers’ nutritional health.

Abstract

The present article defines the possibility of optimizing key managerial solutions in business organization based on an improved algorithm of actions that takes into account the stage of “life cycle” of enterprise. The tactics of phased implementation of management decisions at each stage of “life cycle” of the business structure has been clarified and substantiated. This has allowed to reduce the number of out-of-plan adjustments, to break the subsequent implementation of optimized actions short, and to determine the forecast effectiveness of managerial actions based on statistical analysis. The list of indicators that characterize the managerial aspect of the progressive development of the entrepreneurial structure has been systematized. The results of the analysis of data from regional business structures at different stages of “life cycle” confirm the correctness of the choice of indicators. Both marketing and logistical aspects which make it possible in the end to choose the most profitable option of commercial action organically complement the algorithm of managerial decision-making proposed by the authors. In general, this analytical approach to taking into account the dependence of the cumulative effect on the set and mutual influence of factors will provide the flexibility of business organization and shorten the period of achievement of strategic goals.
