Abstract

The Trikora Road section at Km 2–Km 4 in Banjarbaru City is one of the locations with a high rate of traffic accidents, making a road functional feasibility assessment necessary to evaluate road conditions and identify factors contributing to non-compliance with technical standards. This study aims to assess road functional feasibility based on the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works Number 11/PRT/M/2010 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Road Functional Feasibility. The research method was conducted through a field survey by comparing existing road conditions with technical standards for each road component and subcomponent, which were then classified into functional feasibility categories. The results indicate that 42.86% of the Trikora Road section falls into the Conditional Functional Feasibility (***) category, indicating that some technical requirements have been fulfilled and the road is still able to provide safety for road users. In addition, 42.86% of the section is categorized as Downgraded Functional Feasibility (**), indicating that several road components do not meet technical standards and require improvement. Meanwhile, the functional feasibility assessment of road facilities directly related to road users shows a Not Functionally Feasible (T) category of 14.29%, indicating the need for immediate corrective actions. The recommended improvements focus on enhancing road facilities and improving traffic management to reduce accident risk and increase road user safety and comfort.

Abstract

The development of residential areas represents a form of applied scientific practice that extends beyond technical implementation to include claims of rationality and scientific justification. In practice, development decisions are commonly grounded in the use of models, standards, and regulations that are treated as objective representations of reality and legitimate bases for intervention. However, such applications of scientific knowledge often encounter complex and dynamic social realities, raising questions about the limits of scientific objectivity and rationality. This article aims to reflect on the role of scientific justification in residential area development from the perspective of philosophy of science. The study employs a qualitative approach using conceptual and reflective analysis of philosophical literature, development standards and policies, and the case study of the Kahayan Riverside area. The findings indicate that scientific models and standards function not only as technical analytical tools but also as mechanisms of epistemic legitimacy that justify development practices. Contemporary philosophy of science reveals that models are perspectival, rationality is contextual, and social reality is integral to scientific practice. Therefore, residential area development should be understood as a socially embedded practice that requires critical reflection on its scientific justifications.

Abstract

Composite Girder Bridge is a bridge construction consisting of profile steel material with reinforced concrete. The intact steel section profile used in the composite girder bridge is not produced by the manufacturer in Indonesia, so it uses a built-up section profile from high-strength plate grade SM490. Numerical Evaluation of the strength and serviceability of the bridge uses a nonlinear analysis method based on FEA software. Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS R2025 identifies the main structural components of steel in the form of SHELL181 and the concrete structure as SOLID65. Shell Model is used to represent the steel girder because the analysis results are close to the experimental test results of 91.20%. The results of ANSYS verification with node loading in the middle of the span using WB1350x12x20x20 obtained a performance of 74.44% against   fu = 490 MPa, and reinforced concrete 44.207% against f'c = 30 MPa. Examination of the composite girder diaphragm system for serviceability with a distance between girders of 1.6 m obtained a performance of 2.960% below the standard load of 500 kN. After reinforcement with the addition of a cover plate and modification of the diaphragm, the steel deflection capacity was reduced to 58.39% while the concrete increased to 50.967%.

Abstract

The Kepanjen–Kendalpayak road segment is a strategic collector road in Malang Regency, connecting residential areas with local and regional economic centers. Growing traffic flow without a comprehensive capacity evaluation poses a risk of significant service degradation. This study examines the operational performance of this road segment through capacity analysis, degree of saturation (DS), and level of service (LoS) using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (PKJI 2023) for inter-urban roads. Field traffic surveys were conducted over two days across eleven segments spanning ±11.78 km, covering traffic volumes, road geometric data, and roadside friction classes. Results indicate that the peak hour occurs between 16:30–17:30 with a flow of 2208.8 pcu/hour, dominated by motorcycles. Segment capacities range from 2958.00 to 3340.80 pcu/hour, primarily influenced by lane width variation. The degree of saturation varies from 0.66 to 0.75, with three segments (STA 5+000, 8+000, and 9+000) exhibiting LoS D conditions. These findings demonstrate the necessity of a segment-based analytical approach for identifying critical performance points, providing a basis for targeted road management interventions.

Abstract

Roads, as one of the means of land transportation, are used by road users as connecting routes from one place to another and also play a very important role in boosting economic activities in a location. Therefore, it is very necessary to increase the capacity of road sections in order to meet transportation needs, enabling access to smaller areas and improving the quality of life of the community. During surveys conducted at certain points, these roads were found to be in very concerning conditions. The road damage includes potholes, which can disturb the safety and comfort of the road users. In the planning, this road pavement will be handled for a length of 2 km. In this study, the author conducted calculations using the Component Analysis Method to determine the thickness of flexible pavement. The results of the research and data analysis using the Component Analysis Method revealed a flexible pavement thickness consisting of a 13 cm surface layer, 20 cm Class A LPA, and 15 cm Class B LPA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of levelling observations conducted on eleven buildings with various functions, including educational facilities, social and cultural buildings, health facilities, and commercial structures. The observations were carried out to assess levelling values against elevation standards and the vertical condition of the buildings as indicators of structural stability. Based on the analysis, the measurement compliance rate ranged from 73.27% to 100%, with an average of 91.22% and a standard deviation of 9.77%, indicating that the measurement quality is generally good. Most educational buildings recorded levelling values above 90%, while several other buildings showed deviations at specific observation points. The evaluation of physical conditions shows that 63.64% of the buildings are in an upright condition, whereas 36.36% exhibit slight tilting. Although the detected tilt levels are still considered safe, these conditions require periodic monitoring to ensure that no progressive structural settlement occurs. Overall, the study indicates that the structural stability of the buildings within the observation area is relatively good; however, buildings with lower levelling values and slight tilting are recommended for follow-up observations. This research highlights the importance of regular elevation monitoring as part of a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system to ensure the safety and service life of buildings.

Abstract

Flooding is a frequent hydrometeorological disaster in the Dayeuhkolot Watershed, a sub-watershed of the Citarum River Basin, caused by high rainfall intensity and land cover changes. This study aims to project flood hydrographs in the Dayeuhkolot Watershed based on satellite rainfall data and land cover changes up to the year 2100. Rainfall data were obtained from GSMaP for the period 2018–2022 and calibrated using the quantile mapping method to match observed rainfall characteristics, while river discharge data were collected from the AWLR monitoring station operated by PJT II. Land cover analysis was conducted using Sentinel-2 imagery for the period 2017–2021 and projected to the year 2100 using the Malaccha method. Rainfall–runoff modeling was performed using the HEC-HMS software with the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) Synthetic Unit Hydrograph method. Model performance was evaluated using Nash–Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The results show that out of 12 flood events analyzed, six models met the performance criteria with NSE values greater than 0.36. Land cover projections to 2100 indicate minor changes in forest areas, leading to an increase in the Curve Number value from 76.90 to 77.00, which resulted in a 0.33% increase in peak flood discharge from 2021 to 2100. These findings demonstrate that land cover changes influence flood hydrograph characteristics and can serve as a basis for flood mitigation planning in the Dayeuhkolot Watershed.
