Abstract

Discussions on Tawassul have been done by scholars since antiquity. However, the diversity of beliefs that have emerged lately including the existence of the 'Selawat Perdana' and ‘Malam Cinta Rasul’ phenomenon that was brought by Habib group causing discussion on this issue to become warm again. Among the expressions introduced by the Habib group in their occasion were al-Madad Ya Rasulullahwhich in that expression includes the practice of Tawassul with the dead and Tawassul with the word Madad.What is more alarming is that the Islamic community is so easy to accept the practices introduced by Habib group because of their position as the descendants of the Prophet. Hence, this paper is produced to re-evaluate the arguments submitted by the Habib group in defending the practice of Tawassul with the dead and with the word of Madad. This study is a qualitative study using case study method where the data collection process is done through content analysis and internet studies. Meanwhile, the data analysis process is done through descriptive, thematic and comparative approaches. The findings show that the arguments posed by some of the Habib's groups against these two issues were not strong and thus the necessity of the practices was also questioned. The results of this study have important implications for the Muslim community to evaluate whether the Tawassul practices highlighted by the Habibians are in accordance with the law or otherwise.Pembicaraan tentang masalah Tawassul telah dilakukan oleh para ulama sejak jaman dahulu. Namun, keragaman keyakinan yang muncul akhir-akhir ini termasuk keberadaan fenomena 'Selawat Perdana' dan 'Malam Cinta Rasul' yang dibawa oleh kelompok Habib menyebabkan diskusi tentang masalah ini menjadi hangat lagi. Di antara ekspresi yang diperkenalkan oleh kelompok Habib dalam kesempatan mereka adalah al-Madad Ya Rasulullah yang dalam ungkapan itu termasuk praktek Tawassul dengan orang mati dan Tawassul dengan kata Madad. Yang lebih mengkhawatirkan adalah bahwa komunitas Islam begitu mudah untuk menerima praktik yang diperkenalkan oleh kelompok Habib karena posisinya sebagai keturunan Nabi. Oleh karena itu, makalah ini dibuat untuk mengevaluasi kembali argumen yang diajukan oleh kelompok Habib dalam membela praktik Tawassul dengan orang mati dan dengan kata Madad. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus dimana proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui analisis isi dan studi internet. Sementara itu, proses analisis data dilakukan melalui pendekatan deskriptif, tematik dan komparatif. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa argumen yang diajukan oleh beberapa kelompok Habib terhadap dua masalah ini tidak kuat dan dengan demikian perlunya praktik juga dipertanyakan. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi penting bagi komunitas Muslim untuk mengevaluasi apakah praktik Tawassul yang disorot oleh Habibian sesuai dengan hukum atau sebaliknya.

Abstract

This paper tries to explore the intellectual network of the scholars descendant of Sheikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari. As for the writer, the intellectual network is formed over two centuries, because of the tradition of learning among fellow relatives who form a relationship that not only kinship but also the teacher-student relationships. The intellectual network was then expanded through the process of rihlah 'ilmiyyah. The emergence of a central figure or actor among their networks, increased mobility and migration and the presence of mating with close relatives and external circles who have a persona in the field of religion.

Abstract

Ta'zir and Ta'widh are the two preventive instruments that are born to anticipate moral hazard by the customer against the contract agreement made with the banking. Ta'zir represents a number of penalties stipulated at the start of the contract, definite and designated as a social fund. While Ta'widh in the form of compensation set by the bank, not specified at the beginning of the contract but calculated based on the instantaneous losses experienced by banks and these funds entered as a fee and income bank. Ta'zir provisions get legal legality based on fatwa number 17/DSN-MUI/IX/2000 while Ta'widh based on fatwa number 43/ DSN-MUI/VIII/2004. Both of these instruments aim to discipline customers in order to meet the promised achievements. However, when customers experience a state of overmatch (Force Majoer) these two instruments can not be applied because it is contrary to the principle of Masyaqqat contained in Islamic law.

Abstract

Kajian modern tentang asal-usul sīrah Nabawiyah telah menelusuri dan menemukan keberadaan pengaruh kitab suci sebelumnya dan unsur-unsurnya dalam narasi sīrah. Kisah tentang Halimah, sang ibu susuan, menurut Raven, menunjukkan kejadian paralel dengan kematangan Yesus ketika bayi, dalam Injil. Selain itu, para sarjana Muslim seperti Ibn Hisham ditemukan konsisten dalam membuat perbandingan paralel antara Muhammad dan Musa dalam karyanya. Tulisan ini memfokuskan pada kehidupan awal yang terfokus pada periode Ḥalīmah al-Sa'diyyah dengan menganalisis penggunaan referensi Al-Quran dalam narasi. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan metode pendekatan kritis dan analisis tekstual untuk membaca cerita. Kajian ini menemukan proposisi bahwa ada dua kemungkinan alasan yang mengarahkan Ibn Hisham menambahkan ayat 28:12 dari Al-Qur'an sebagai referensi atas catatan waktu Muhammad sebagai bayi yang menyusu. Isu pertama ketidakjelasan digital dalam narasi Ibn Isāq. Dan yang kedua adalah memberikan kepercayaan kepada kisah kedua nabi, Muhammad dan Musa.Modern studies of the origin of sīrah nabawiyyah have traced and suggested the existence of influence of previous scriptures and their elements within the sīrah narrative. The extraordinary speed and marks of physical maturity in Prophet Muḥammad’s wet-nurse period with Halimah, which, according to Raven, indicates a parallel occurrence with Jesus' precocity in the Gospels of the Infancy. Besides, Muslim scholars such as Ibn Hishām was found to consistently make parallel comparison between Muḥammad and Moses in his work. This study aims to explore the narratives of Prophet Muḥammad’s early life, with special focus to his period with Ḥalīmah al-Sa’diyyah and analyse the use of Quranic reference in the narrative. The study is qualitative in nature in which the researcher employed critical and textual analysis to examine the story. The present study in its finding proposes that there are two possible reasons which lead Ibn Hishām to adduce verse 28:12 of the Quran as his reference to the account of Muḥammad’s time as a suckling infant. The first is to elucidate lexical obscurity in the narration of Ibn Isḥāq. And the second is to give credence to the similarity between the accounts of two prophets, Muḥammad and Moses.

Abstract

Kitab al-Durr al-Nafis karya Muhammad Nafis al-Banjari merupakan salah satu kitab tasawuf yang menjadi polemik di kalangan ulama Banjar untuk boleh atau tidaknya diajarkan kepada masyarakat.Dilihat dari sisi ajaran tasawuf, kitab ini membahas ajaran tentang kemutlakan Zat Tuhan, masalah penciptaan makhluk (alam), konsep manusia, maqam-maqam pendekatan diri kepada Tuhan, dan maqam fana-baqa.Kitab ini ditulis secara objektif ilmiah karena mencantumkan sumber-sumber pendapat dari para sufi terkenal dan memisahkannya dari pendapat pribadi, sehingga dapat dikatakan kitab ini sebagai Buku Daras bagi murid-muridnya. Selain itu, terungkap pula kuat keinginan penulis untuk mengkombinasikan secara harmonis antara tasawuf sunni dan tasawuf falsafi, tanpa menggugurkan taklif syari kepada hamba.Satu kelemahan terjadi pada bagian penutup, yaitu tidak terdapatnya rangkuman atau simpulan dari penulis. Uraian yang terdapat dalam bagian penutup ternyata diisi dengan persoalan baru yang lebih pelik, yaitu mengenai martabat tujuh dan pernyataan-pernyataan tokoh sufi falsafi (Ibn Arabi dll.), sehingga mengesankan bahwa itulah simpulan bahasan kitab atau pendapat Muhammad Nafis. Itulah sebabnya sebagian ulama menolak ajaran kitab ini karena dinilai menganut paham wahdat al-wujud.

Abstract

This paper discusses three aspects of character studies and how they are applied in the research religion. First, the basic concepts of character studies which include definitions, objectives, indicators or criteria of figures and the usefulness of character studies. Second, the object and method of character studies. The object of study includes biographies, thoughts, roles, and social contributions empirically in various fields, and visualized figures. Third, the character study method that can be used is the biography method commonly applied in historical research, philosophical research methods, intellectual history methods, qualitative methods, media text analysis methods, and visual culture analysis methods. In religious research, all of these methods can be applied to study religious leaders who have popularity, influence and intellectual work.Tulisan ini membahas tiga aspek studi tokoh dan bagaimana penerapannya dalam penelitian agama. Pertama, konsep dasar studi tokoh yang meliputi definisi, tujuan, indikator atau kriteria tokoh  dan kegunaan studi tokoh. Kedua, Objek dan metode studi tokoh. Objek studi tokoh meliputi biografi, pemikiran, peran dan kontribusi sosialnya secara empiris dalam berbagai bidang, dan figur tokoh yang divisualisasikan. Ketiga, metode studi tokoh yang dapat digunakan adalah metode biografi yang biasa diterapkan dalam penelitian sejarah, metode penelitian filsafat, metode sejarah intelektual, metode kualitatif, metode analisis teks media dan metode analisis budaya visual. Dalam penelitian agama, kesemua metode ini dapat diaplikasikan untuk mengkaji tokoh-tokoh agama yang memiliki popularitas, pengaruh dan karya intelektual.

Abstract

As a country that once colonized by the British, Malaya indeed vulnerable to the influence of British ideology. This occurs through a mechanism of colonial knowledge developed by British to learn and dominate the Malay community. As a result of colonial influence can be traced in all aspects of Malay community life. The findings of this research show that the colonial has their own policies and approach  when it comes to the issue of Islam in the Malay community. They try to kill the potential of Islam and replace it with the world-view and British paradigm then embed it into the community. The results of the Maqasid analysis on the legacy of colonial knowledge still prove too much effort to consolidate Islam should be done by Islamic scholars. Islamic scholars have to reject and correct negative outlook placed on Islam.
