However, the errors of using it keep occurring in the sixth semester students writing compositions. This research was conducted to find out and analyzed the errors on using preposition that occur in the students writing of recount essay. This research was classified into descriptive one. This research was about the errors of preposition used in the recount essay done by the sixth semester students of English Department of IAIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The data of this research were the incorrect preposition found in the recount essay written by the students. The data were collected through giving the students a writing test of recount test. In order to know the causes of the errors, the data were collected by doing the interview. This research investigated about the types of errors and which type that mostly occurs of preposition used in the writing of recount essay and what are the causes. The findings show that the students made some errors on the use of preposition. They are within the category of interlingual; features of L1 are transferred to the target language, and intralingual; ommission, addition, misselection of FL preposition, and redundancy. These types are based on Corder. Meanwhile, the interview guideline is derived from Richards theory of causes of errors. The cause of error in using English preposition is the ignorance of the rule restriction that the students perform in doing the writing activity. To conclude, the error in using English preposition is because of the students low of grammatical ability.

Abstract

This study presents a literature review on growing scientific attitudes and literacy towards science for students. Natural science is a product, process, and ends with an attitude that is a scientific attitude. Scientific attitudes are developed through scientific literacy activities or processes in learning when conducting discussions, experiments, simulations, and project activities at the field. Although in the world of education, we have encountered many models that carry out the activities described above in developing students' scientific attitudes. Some of them are inquiry, discovery learning, problem-based learning, project-based learning, and contextual learning. The learning model improves the scientific attitude in learning. However, there are some obstacles in its efforts to foster the scientific attitude of students, one of the problems is that educators lack the relevant pedagogical skills needed in learning in an atmosphere of inquiry. Another disadvantage is that the background of teachers' understanding of scientific literacy content is still poor. This research was conducted to see the factors that influence the scientific attitude of students. Literature research results show that the scientific attitude of students will be positive, if the ability of educators in scientific learning and literacy of science is mastered by the teacher.

motivated by teaching materials that are used by teachers which do not contain the complete reading process (pre-reading, reading, and post-reading). This study aims to develop reading comprehension teaching materials using the CIRC model for elementary school class V that is valid, practical, and effective. This type of research is development research. This study uses the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely: the stage of analysis, design, development, and implementation, and evaluation. Validity test data is obtained through assessment sheets of teacher and student responses. Effectiveness is seen from the activities of students, assessment of the process and results of the test of reading comprehension of students. Based on the results of the validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests obtained teaching materials that are valid, practical, and effective, and able to improve reading comprehension skills. It can be concluded that teaching reading comprehension materials using the CIRC model developed can be used in reading comprehension learning in grade V of Elementary School.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a local instruction theory (LIT) based on realistic mathematics education (RME) that is valid, practical, and effective on the topic of multiplication in grade III of elementary school. The research method used is research design type Gravemeijer & Cobb (2013). The research was conducted in three phases, namely preparing for the experiment, experimenting in the classroom, and conducting retrospective analysis. Data was collected using document analysis, observation, interviews, field notes, tests, and questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the research that has been carried out, LIT is produced which is valid, practical, and effective against students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Students can find a standard multiplication algorithm with a series of activities, namely finding the product of multiplication with repeated additions, ten multiplications, multiples of multiples of ten, and standard multiplication algorithms. Keywords: LIT, RME, multiplication

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study was to find out: (1) the influence of critical thinking skills of students given the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model with students who were given conventional learning; (2) the influence of critical knowledge with high initial knowledge using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model compared to those using conventional learning; (3) the influence of critical thinking skills with low initial knowledge using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model compared to those using conventional learning; (4) interaction between learning strategies with students' initial knowledge of critical thinking skills. This research is a quasi-experimental type with a research design using factorial 2x2. The population is all SD Kartika 1-11 students and the sample is 50 IVA and IVB students. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. Research data was obtained from tests of initial knowledge and critical thinking skills. The results of the study indicate that: (1) students' critical thinking skills given the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model higher tcount = 1.910> t table = 1.708; (2) Critical thinking skills with high initial knowledge using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) and conventional models have no significant differences thitung = 1.87 <ttable = 2.56; (3) Critical thinking skills with low initial knowledge use the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model higher t count = 3.71> t table = 2.56; (4) there is no interaction between learning models with students' initial knowledge of critical thinking skills. Keywords: PJBL, Preliminary Knowledge, Critical Thinking Skills.
