Abstract

This study aims to explain the effect of Round Robin techniques and student anxiety on speaking ability. The design of this study was a quasi-experimental study with a factorial 2x2 design. The population of this study was first-level students at the Health Academy of Fort De Kock Bukittinggi. The ability to speak and the anxiety level questionnaire was used as a data collection tool for this study. Furthermore, the research data was by using the T-test formula and two-way ANOVA. The results showed that (1) groups of students with Round Robin techniques had better speaking skills than students with Memorization techniques, (2) groups of students with high anxiety with Round Robin technique has better speaking skills than Memorization techniques, (3) groups of students with low anxiety with Round Robin technique have good speaking skills from Memorization techniques and (4) there is no interaction between the two and anxiety towards students' speaking ability, where Fcount (0.0251) is lower than Ftable (4.96).

Abstract

This study discusses developing a mathematical education (RME) based local theory (LIT) that is valid, practical, and effective on the topic of the lowest common multiple and greatest common factor in grade V of elementary school. The research method used is the type of research design Gravemeijer & Cobb (2013). This research was conducted in three phases, namely conducting experiments, experimenting in class, and conducting a retrospective analysis. Data was collected using document analysis, observation, interviews, field notes, tests, and questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the research that has been done, LIT has been approved which is valid, practical, and effective for students' mathematical literacy abilities. Students can solve the problems of LCM and GCF with various activities, namely finding multiples and multiples of fellowship, finding factors and factors of fellowship then resolving problems related to daily life. Keywords: LIT, RME, LCM, CGF.

Abstract

This research takes the form of school action research (PTS), which is the improvement of teacher performance with class visit techniques in order to implement standard processes, which consist of 2 cycles and each cycle consists of 4 stages: (1) action program planning stage, (2 ) implementation of action programs, (3) program observations, (4) reflection. Based on the research that has been done, it can be summarized as follows: Application of Class Visit supervision at SDN 34 Saning Bakar following the procedure based on the opinion of Sahertian (2000: 106) which is divided into four main steps namely: (1) planning (2) implementation and observation, (3) reflection There is an increase in the ability of class teachers at SDN 34 Saning Bakar after the implementation of supervision of class visits which initially only 30.17, in the first cycle rose to 40.17, in the second cycle to 57.17 and in silus III to 74, 50. There was an increase in the ability to carry out classroom teacher learning at SDN 34 Saning Bakar after the implementation of class visit supervision from the initial value of 29.73, in the first cycle rose to 44.33 in the second cycle rose to 55.33 and in the third cycle to 77.67.

Abstract

The learning process in the classroom is still dominated by conventional teaching, teachers was seldom to invite and provide opportunities for students to interact, collaborating or cooperating with their classmates. This problem like this can give an impression to students that math lessons are boring and scary. The purpose of this research is to get information about the effect of student learning outcomes who teach by using problem solving methods with the motivation of students who teach by using conventional methods in learning mathematics in class V SDN 29 Saok Laweh Kabupaten Solok. The design of the research is quasy experiment. The population is all fifth grade students that consist of 2 classes with 48 people. Sampling was gathered by random sampling technique. The research data was collected using the initial ability test and final ability test. The results of the research that found the learning outcomes of students who teach by using problem solving methods had better that students’ learning motivation learning outcomes who teach by using conventional methods with a tcount is 1.984 greater than ttable that found 4.72 with a real level of α = 0.05. Calculation results in the table using the Ftest can found Fcount are 4.258. Furthermore, Ftable is found 4.11. It can be concluded that there are differences in students’ learning outcomes who teach by using problem solving methods with students’ learning outcomes who teach by using conventional methods. It means that there are differences in motivation of students teach using problem solving methods with motivation of students who teach by using conventional methods in learning mathematics in Class V SD Negeri 29 Saok Laweh Kecamatan Kubung.

Abstract

The rationale of this study was based on the problems experienced by the researcher especially in teaching mathematics. Students faced some difficulties in understanding and solving math problems especially the questions presented in stories; as a result, their learning outcomes were low. These difficulties were seen in the learning process in which the students were not active in learning. They were also ignorant, noisy and bored during a learning process. In the primary study, it has been predicted that this would happen due to the conventional way of teaching which is lecturing. Hence, the students’ active involvement in the class was low, and they were less motivated in learning. Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is one solution that can be used to enhance students’ active involvement, motivation and learning outcomes. This study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consisted of 2 cycles in which each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. Each cycle had three stages, namely the planning stage, the implementation and observation stages, and the reflection stage. At the observation stage, the researcher was assisted by observers who were observing and recording students’ activity and learning motivation. In brief, the results revealed that after implementing of PBL model of learning, there was an improvement in students’ activity, motivation and learning outcomes from one cycle to the next.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cross-interest is a curricular program that is prepared to expand the students’ choice of interest, talent, and/or academic skill aside from the interest-based program (Permendikbud No.64/2014). Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation to some students and teachers, it was inferred that the application of the English Cross-Interest in SMAN 3 Bukitinggi had been good. However, there were some problems found. They were assumed as the effect of inexistence or lacks of needs analysis. Thus, the aim of this research was to investigate the target and learning needs of the students in the program. To fulfill such an aim, three instruments were used to collect the data; the researcher itself as the instrument, questionnaire, and interview guide. Descriptive research was applied as the research method where the grade XI students of SMAN 3 Bukittinggi were chosen as respondents of the research. Then, the result showed that the students’ target needs are mainly related to their academic and occupational English in the future. The students have been proved to be lack in some micro-skills of speaking which will be needed in the target situations. But, speaking is not practiced much during their study in the program. Reading, on the other hand, is also considered as one of the main skills needed but luckily they have got sufficient reading skills in the program. It has also been concealed that the students need more various learning strategies from the teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of developing reading comprehension materials and producing reading comprehension teaching materials using the Somatic Auditory Visual And Intellectual model for teachers and students in grade IV of elementary schools that are valid, practical, and effective. This research is a development research based on the 4-D development model. The feasibility of teaching materials is obtained through the validation of the feasibility of content, language, presentation and graphics through expert validators and practitioner validators. The validation results from expert validators show that the teaching material reads the understanding using the Somatic Auditory Visual And Intellectual Model gets a percentage of 84.37%, this means the development of teaching materials carried out is in accordance with the feasibility of content, language, presentation, and graphics, so it can be said to be very valid . Meanwhile, practitioners' validators received 98.53% with a very valid category. Validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests are obtained through limited trials and broad dissemination stages so that teaching materials that are valid, practical, and effective are obtained, and are able to improve students' reading comprehension skills. It can be concluded that teaching reading comprehension materials using the Somatic Auditory Visual And Intellectual model developed can be used in reading comprehension learning in grade IV of elementary school.
