This study aims to reveal the Effect of Media Use of Comics Without Text and Direct Learning on Early Knowledge and Narrative Writing Skills for Grade IV Elementary School Students. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment in the form of Randomized Control Group Only Design. The population in this study were fourth grade students of SDN Gugus V District X Koto Tanah Datar District with a sample of fourth grade students at SDN 26 Singgalang and fourth grade students at SDN 30 Singgalang. Sampling is done by Simple Random Sampling technique. The technique of analyzing data through initial knowledge tests, and the final test of narrative writing skills. The hypothesis is proposed using the t-test formula and two-way ANOVA. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of the use of media comics without text and direct learning on the initial knowledge and writing skills of students in elementary school fourth grade with 1) tests of narrative writing skills of students learning using comic media without text higher than students learning using learning directly with the average in the experimental class 83.37 and the average in the control class 76.75, 2) the test of narrative writing skills of students with high initial knowledge who learn using comic media without text higher than those who learn using direct learning with the average in the experimental class 85.75 and the average in the control class 79.64, 3) the test of narrative writing skills of students with low initial knowledge who learn using comic media without text is higher than those who learn using direct learning with on average in experimental class 81 and average in class control 75.19, 4) there is no interaction between comic media without text and the initial knowledge of students on narrative writing skills with ftable 4.09 and fcount 0.547.

This study aims to describe an increase in student learning outcomes in social studies learning using Audio Visual media in grade IV SDN 04 Bukit Apit Puhun Bukittinggi. The type of research is PTK using qualitative and quantitative approaches. RPP assessment cycle I is 81.5% increased to 94% in cycle II, implementation of teacher action cycle I is 79% increased to 91% in cycle II, implementation of student action cycle I is 79% increased to 91% in cycle II, and Student learning outcomes in cycle I were 68.4%, increasing to 80.7% in cycle II. Thus Audio Visual media can improve student learning outcomes in social studies learning in class IV SDN 04 Bukit Apit Puhun Bukittinggi

This study aims to reveal the effect of the Open Ended Approach and motivation to learn on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students in Elementary School. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with the design of Randomized Control Group Only Design. The population in this study are all elementary school students who have used the 2013 curriculum in Cluster VI Palembayan District registered in the first semester of the 2018/2019 school year with a sample of VB SDN 27 Tapian Kandis as an experimental class and VA SDN 27 Tapian Kandis as a class control. Sampling is done by simple random sampling technique. Research data was collected through pretest and posttest student learning outcomes. The hypothesis is proposed using the t test formula. The results showed that there was an effect of the Open Ended Approach and learning motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students with the average student learning outcomes in the experimental class with 54.83 and posttest pretest 83.17 and the average learning outcomes for class students the control is 48.43 and posttest 76.05.

This study aims to reveal the Effect of Project-Based Learning Model on Learning Outcomes in Grade V students of SD Kartika 1-11 Padang Timur. The type of research used is a quantitative approach in the form of Quasi Expansion Design. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of SD Kartika 1-11 Padang Timur with samples of the VE class as experimental class 1 and VB as the control class. Sampling is done by probability sampling technique with a type of proportional stratified random sampling. Data analysis techniques through student learning outcomes tests. The hypothesis is proposed using the t test formula. The results showed that there was the influence of Project-Based Learning Model on Learning Outcomes in the experimental group that took science learning using the Project Based Learning model for the control group students taking science learning using a conventional model with an average learning outcome test in the experimental class at 72.92 pretest and posttest 87.58 and the average learning outcomes test for control class students at pretest 63.13 posttest 71.04.

This study aims to improve the ability to write narratives using the constructivism approach of the fifth grade students of SDN 03 Batang Anai. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The population in this study were fourth grade students of SDN 03 Batang Anai, Batang Anai District. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This study focused on the average score of students' ability to write narrative essays in cycles I and II. The following data presents the results of the test: The ability to write students' narrative essays in cycle 1 is the percentage of classical average obtained from the narrative structure consisting of Theme, Flow, Characterization, Background, Viewpoint of the expository narrative with an average score of 56%. Looking at the circumstances that occur as well as the classical average, the average percentage of students' ability to write narrative essays in cycle 1 is only 56%, so this is far below the indicator of success set at 75%. In the second cycle the ability to write student narrative essays is the Theme, Flow, Characterization, Background, Viewpoint of the suggestion narrative with an average score of 78%.

This study aims to improve problem solving skills by using problem solving methods of class VI students of Koto Alam 07 State Elementary School, Palembayan District, Agam Regency. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The population in this study were students of class VI of SD Negeri 07 Koto Alam, Palembayan Subdistrict, Agam Regency, who were enrolled in the first semester of the 2017/2018 school year. Class VI students number 34 people, consisting of 12 men and 22 women. This study focused on the average score of problem solving abilities of students in cycles I and II. The following data presents the results of the test: The problem solving ability of students in cycle 1 is the percentage of the classic average obtained from the test of 56%. Looking at the circumstances that occur as well as the classical average, the average percentage of students' problem solving abilities in cycle 1 is only 61%, so this is far below the indicator of success set at 75%. In cycle II the problem solving ability of students from the test with an average score of 78%.

This type of research is class action, with the subject of fourth grade elementary school students. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2015/2016 academic year, the research instrument used was the effectiveness of communicating student sheets, learning outcome assessment sheets on the cognitive aspects of students at the level of knowledge and understanding. Based on the results of the study, the communication effectiveness of students in the first cycle obtained an average value of 49.99% increase in the second cycle to 67.45%, the communication effectiveness of students in the first cycle obtained an average value of 53.96% increasing in the second cycle to 71 , 42%. While student learning outcomes at the cognitive level of knowledge in the first cycle increased in the second cycle 68.33 to 80.47, cognitive learning outcomes at the level of understanding in the first cycle increased in the second cycle 58.09 to 71.42. It can be concluded that the Open Ended model can increase the effectiveness of communication and student learning outcomes in fourth grade science learning in elementary school.

The research objectives were to assess: 1) How big the contribution of professional competence toward the teachers' performance was. 2) How big the contribution of the implementation of the supervision toward the teacher's performance was. 3) How big the contribution of professional competence and the jointly supervised implementation toward the teachers’ performance in Lima Puluh Kota District was. The type of this research is correlational quantitative research design. This research was conducted at the existing Vocational High Schools in Lima Puluh Kota District (henceforth: VHS in LPK District), on all civil servant teachers at the schools during 2011/2012 school year. The study population was all the teachers of the schools that were actively teaching from July to December 2011 with the total of 97 people. The collection of samples in this study used stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected at VHS in LPK District done by directly seeing the respondents during office hours at the teacher's room. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques of correlation and regression used to test the hypothesis. Based on the results of analysis, professional competence contributed to the teachers’ performance with the number of 41.6%. This means that the professional competence contributed to teachers’ performance. The implementation of supervision contributed the teachers’ performance with the number of 12.9%. Since the implementation of the Supervision contributed significantly to teachers’ performance, it means that the higher the implementation of supervision is, the better the performance of teachers in performing their duties will be. In conclusion, the professional competence and the implementation of Supervision jointly contributed to the teachers’ performance of 47.3%. This means that in order to improve teachers’ performance, there should be an effort to increase the profesional competence and the good implementation of supervision by supervisors or head masters.

The purpose of this study to analyze the determinant factors affecting low Universitas Negeri Padang students’ participation in the activities of students’ organizations. This type of research was explanatory research. The sampling technique is done by purposive sampling. The technique of data collection was through questionnaires. The research population for the data quantitative in this study was Universitas Negeri Padang students of S1, D4 and D3 programs registered actively in the semester of July December 2018 which were in 3rd (third), 5th (fifth) and 7th (seventh) semester with a total of 24,395. The number of samples is 580 people with a margin of error of 20%. Quantitative data analysis techniques used factor analysis and descriptive analysis. The results of this study show that of the 19 indicators analyzed using factor analysis to determine the factors that influence the low student participation in student organizations activities, there are 3 factors, namely willingness and ability factors with eigenvalue 8,080, opportunity, program and environment factors with eigenvalue 1,611, and social factors with eigenvalue 1,322.

The School Literacy Movement launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2015 aims to foster students interest in reading because Indonesian students reading interest is still low. The objectives of this research are (1) to describe the implementation of the school literacy movement in increasing reading interest in social studies students at SMA N 4 Padang. (2) to describe the problems in the implementation of the school literacy movement in increasing the student reading interest in social studies students at SMA N 4 Padang. (3) to analyze the strategy of the school literacy movement in increasing students reading interest atSMA N 4 Padang. The approach used in this research was a qualitative approach. The selection of informants was done by using a purposive sampling. The data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The test of the validity of the data was by means of data triangulation. The data analysis technique used the analysis of the Miles and Huberman models. The results of the research indicated that the implementation of the school literacy movement in this school was held on Monday-Thursday at 13.05-13.20. There were already supporting facilities such as corners and literacy parks. Reading books came from the students. The problems faced were in the form of availability of reading material sources and available time. While the strategies carried out were (1) giving rewards in the form of literacy corner competitions and visitors to the traditional library. (2) The existence of a literacy journal to monitor the student literacy activities every day. (3) Participating in literacy competitions (4) The teachers and schools always emphasize the importance of literacy. Keywords: School Literacy Movement, Student Reading Interest
