Abstract

There is a trend of decreasing the poverty rate in Indonesia. But in the Province of West Kalimantan, there are still five districts with poverty rates that are above the average national rate, namely Melawi, Landak, Ketapang, Sintang, and North Kayong districts. The purpose of this study is to estimate the relationship between government transfers which are proxied by the amount of GAT (General Allocation Transfer) Funds, economic growth, and the quality of human resources in terms of education and health which are proxied by the average years of schooling and public-health insurance membership. Once these factors can be identified, it is hoped that the government will find it easier to reduce poverty levels. Based on Nested Test, model that passes the goodness of fit test is The Common Effect model so this model is used in estimating and interpreting in this research. It shows that there is no difference in the behavior of the research variables, either between time or between individuals. The findings of this study that the economic growth variable is not significant in reducing the poverty level, the variable of literacy level have a significantly negative effect on the poverty level, the variable of public-health insurance membership has significantly positive on the poverty level, and the central government transfer variable proxied by GAT has significantly positive effect significant to the poverty level.

Abstract

The study purpose is to analyze the effect of gender inequality in education, health, and labor force participation on income inequality in Indonesia.  Data from 33 provinces in Indonesia during 2011-2018 were analyzed with panel data regression. The results show that gender inequality in education and labor force participation has a negative and significant effect on income inequality. However,  gender inequality in life expectancy does not affect income inequality. The implications are the government should provide free education in poor regions such as by providing a larger allocation of scholarship funds  and create employment programs to reduce education as well as income inequality, government. In this case, the government can expand community empowerment programs accompanied by intensive and sustainable assistance  and private sector should open the widest possible job opportunities without gender discrimination. This research contributes to development economics, particularly regarding the problem of gender inequality and income inequality  where it is found that income inequality is influenced by the occurrence of gender inequality both in terms of education and work participation. Previous studies have examined the relationship between gender inequality and economic growth, while this study analyzes the relationship between gender inequality and income inequality based on provincial data in Indonesia. Apart from gender inequality, this study also analyzes two control variables: government capital expenditure and income per capita.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on various sectors such as the healthcare system, tourism, trade, industry and economy sector especially on the economic activities of MSMEs. MSMEs are very vulnerable to being affected by business disruptions, because they are indirectly related to sectors affected by the pandemic such as the tourism sector, transportation to the culinary industry. However, in this COVID-19 pandemic, MSMEs lack of resilience and flexibility due to several things, such as the low level of digitalization, difficulties in accessing technology and a lack of understanding strategies to survive in business. So to overcome this challenge, MSMEs need to make accurate plans and strategies, so that companies can find out their strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats.SWOT analysis is used to obtain information derived from the analysis of the company's internal and external environmental situations. This analysis is needed to help develop MSMEs in recognizing their strengths and weaknesses as well as taking advantage of every existing opportunity and avoiding or minimizing threats in market competition. This research uses SWOT and TOPSIS analysis methods. SWOT analysis begins by weighting and ranking internal factors and external factors of MSMEs. The TOPSIS method is used to sort priorities from alternatives to the selected strategy. The results show that alternative strategies that can be applied are to create innovative new products, expand sales areas, increase promotions, turn business processes digital by using existing online platforms and expanding sales areas.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the mapping of the creative economy sub-sector in Central Bangka Regency and its survival during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This study uses a mixed-method analysis approach. Quantitatively, this analysis uses linear regression analysis to identify the influence of government policies on the survival of creative economy businesses during the pandemic. Qualitative analysis is carried out by identifying data on the distribution of the creative economy that still persists during the pandemic and the factors that influence it both internally and externally using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The results of the analysis obtained are the weighted IFE value of 2.350 and the weighted EFE value of 2.756 which can be plotted in the Internal-External matrix. This shows that the creative economy business in Central Bangka Regency is currently in a period of growth because it previously experienced a reduction in production and distribution during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Meanwhile, based on the results of the QSPM analysis, the main strategy that must be carried out during this pandemic is to strengthen promotions using the digital marketing concept. Meanwhile, based on the results of linear regression analysis, it was found that there was a positive relationship between the survival of the creative economy business during the pandemic and the creative economy management program in the Central Bangka Regency.
