Abstract

Teluk Dalam Village, Teluk Dalam Sub-district, Asahan Regency, has the potential of a home-based palm-leaf broom craft. One of the most time-consuming and hazardous stages is separating the leaf blade from the leaf rib (stripping the palm rib), which is done manually with a knife without adequate tools, making it prone to hand injuries, fatigue, and uneven results. This community service aims to design and build a simple manual palm-rib stripping tool made of wood with a pair of cutter blades (left and right) operated while seated, as an appropriate technology to improve craftsmen's safety and work efficiency. The methods include observation, problem identification, design, material selection, fabrication, testing, and mentoring. The results show that using the tool reduces stripping time and increases output per unit of time compared with the conventional method, while lowering the risk of direct hand contact with the blade because the cutting edge is fixed to the tool. The tool proves to be low-cost, easy to build, and replicable independently by the community.

Abstract

Public services at the village level are still largely delivered conventionally, causing limitations in service speed, information transparency, and data updating. This Community Service (KKN) activity aims to digitize public services in Serdang Village, Meranti Sub-district, Asahan Regency, by developing a web-based Village Information Portal accessible at desa-serdang.my.id. The portal was built using the open-source OpenSID platform, which was customized and populated with village data to fit local needs. The implementation followed common development stages: requirements analysis through observation and interviews, installation and configuration on hosting and a domain, interface customization and content entry, module activation, testing, and training for officials. The portal provides village profiles and officials, a GIS-based map, a photo gallery, news, transparency documents such as the village budget (APBDes) and LPPD, population statistics, an MSME catalog and citizen service board, and a Citizen Self-Service feature for online letter requests, social-aid verification, and complaints. Black-box testing showed all features worked as intended. The portal eases public access to information and services, strengthens governance transparency, and opens space to promote the local economy, becoming an initial step in the digital transformation of Serdang Village toward a smart village.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technology has significantly increased social media engagement among the public. However, high social media activity is accompanied by growing cyber risks, particularly personal data leaks caused by a lack of user awareness regarding sensitive information disclosure. This study aims to design a motion graphic video as an engaging visual educational medium to enhance public awareness regarding personal data protection and prevention strategies on social media. The Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) framework was adopted, comprising six phases: concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. Visual animation was crafted using Alight Motion for 2D flat-design elements, combined with CapCut for audio integration and final rendering. The output is an 84-second motion graphic video (12 scenes) covering basic personal data definitions, cyber threats (phishing, malware, social engineering), risk impacts, and practical security measures such as strong passwords and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Testing results demonstrate that the motion graphic serves as an effective, highly accessible, and visually appealing educational tool for improving digital literacy and cyber safety practices among social media users.

Abstract

Abstract: The persistent gap in female labor force participation remains a major labor-market challenge in Indonesia despite improvements in higher education participation and gender development. This study examines the effects of the Higher Education Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER-HE), Gender Development Index (GDI), and Female Professional Employment on the Female Labor Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) across 34 Indonesian provinces during 2020–2024. A quantitative approach was employed using balanced panel data comprising 170 observations. Panel regression was estimated using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), selected based on the Chow and Hausman tests. The results indicate that GER-HE has a negative and statistically significant effect on FLFPR, with a coefficient of −0.3948 (p = 0.0076), suggesting a short-term schooling effect in which higher education participation may delay women’s entry into the labor market. GDI has a positive but statistically insignificant coefficient of 0.1030 (p = 0.7260), while Female Professional Employment has a positive but statistically insignificant coefficient of 0.2311 (p = 0.0560). Nevertheless, the three variables jointly significantly explain FLFPR (F-statistic = 43.24635; p < 0.001). The findings highlight the multidimensional nature of female labor participation and the need for integrated policies linking higher education, gender development, and inclusive employment opportunities. Keywords: the participation rate of the female labor force; college apk; gender development index; women's professional occupations; Data Regression Panel. Abstract

Indonesia is a region with high seismic activity; therefore, subsurface soil characteristics need to be investigated to understand their response to earthquake waves. This study aims to determine the seismic characteristics of subsurface soils based on the dominant frequency (f₀), dominant period (T₀), amplification factor (A₀), seismic vulnerability index (Kg), and average shear-wave velocity to a depth of 30 meters (Vs30) in Pancur Batu District and Tarutung District using the Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) method. Microtremor data were processed using Geopsy software to obtain the dominant frequency and amplification factor, while Vs30 was estimated through inversion using the Dinver module. The seismic vulnerability index was calculated using Kg = A₀/f₀, and site classification followed SNI 1726:2019. The results show that Pancur Batu has f₀ of 3.39854 Hz, T₀ of 0.29424 s, A₀ of 2.3885, Kg of 1.6786, and Vs30 of 455.70 m/s. Tarutung has f₀ of 2.33859 Hz, T₀ of 0.42761 s, A₀ of 3.09903, Kg of 4.1063, and Vs30 of 654.54 m/s. Both locations are classified as Site Class SC, although Tarutung exhibits a higher dynamic ground response due to differences in local geological conditions.

Abstract

Rainfall is one of the most important climatological parameters that plays a significant role in supporting agriculture, water resource management, and hydrometeorological disaster mitigation in Indonesia. As the volume of meteorological data continues to increase, technologies capable of processing large-scale data efficiently are required. This study aims to analyze rainfall patterns in Indonesia using a Big Data approach by utilizing Apache Spark as the primary data processing framework. The data used in this research consist of daily rainfall data from 34 provinces in Indonesia obtained from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in CSV format. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method consisting of data ingestion, data cleaning, data transformation, and descriptive statistical analysis using Apache Spark with PySpark. The analysis was conducted to obtain information regarding the number of valid records, average rainfall, maximum rainfall, and minimum rainfall values for each province. The results indicate that Apache Spark is capable of processing rainfall data in a structured, efficient, and automated manner. Based on the analysis, West Sumatra Province recorded the highest average rainfall at 16.01 mm/day, while Central Sulawesi Province recorded the lowest average rainfall at 0.30 mm/day. In addition, the highest maximum rainfall was observed in Bengkulu Province at 186.4 mm. The use of Spark DataFrame and aggregation functions such as count(), avg(), max(), and min() proved effective in supporting data processing and analysis activities. The findings demonstrate that Apache Spark can serve as an effective solution for large-scale climatological data processing and provide valuable information to support decision-making in agriculture, water resource management, and disaster mitigation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The principle of freedom of contract under Article 1338 of the Indonesian Civil Code presumes that contracting parties hold an equal bargaining position. This premise collapses in the context of standard contracts, where business actors unilaterally draft every clause and present it to debtors on a take-it-or-leave-it basis, producing a merely illusory form of equality. This study examines the legal certainty of standard contracts from the perspective of freedom of contract, the positional relation between debtors and creditors, and the appropriate legal protection for debtors. A normative method is applied through philosophy approaches, supported by document study of primary and secondary legal materials, analyzed qualitatively. The findings show that formal legal certainty under Articles 1320 and 1338 of the Civil Code, despite limitations imposed by the Consumer Protection Law and Financial Services Authority Regulation No. 22 of 2023, has not dismantled the exploitative structure concealed behind the doctrine of market efficiency. The debtor-creditor relation is shown to be structurally asymmetrical and sustained through a hegemony of consciousness that normalizes inequality. Adequate legal protection requires a paradigm shift from formal certainty toward substantive justice, with John Rawls's principles of justice serving as the primary guide for drafting and testing standard clauses.

Abstract

Gender reassignment that has been legally recognized through a court decision gives rise to legal consequences regarding an individual's civil status, including their position as an heir. Indonesian positive law recognizes changes in legal identity based on a District Court decision for civil registration purposes, whereas Islamic law determines inheritance rights based on an individual's biological sex in accordance with Sharia principles. This difference gives rise to legal issues concerning the inheritance rights of individuals who have undergone gender reassignment. This study aims to analyze the legal basis for gender reassignment under Islamic law, the forms of legal protection for inheritance rights resulting from court-approved gender reassignment, and the distribution of inheritance rights. This research employs a normative legal research method using statutory, conceptual, case, and comparative law approaches. Primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials were collected through library research and analyzed qualitatively using descriptive-analytical methods with deductive reasoning. The findings indicate that Islamic law generally prohibits gender reassignment without medical necessity, considering it a form of taghyir khalqillah (altering God's creation), except in cases of khuntsa musykil, whose biological sex can only be determined through accountable medical examination. A District Court decision provides legal certainty regarding an individual's administrative identity and civil status but does not alter their status as an heir under Islamic inheritance law. Legal protection is provided through preventive measures in the form of court decisions supporting changes to civil registration documents and repressive measures through inheritance dispute resolution by the competent courts. Under Islamic law, inheritance distribution remains based on the individual's biological sex at birth, whereas under the Indonesian Civil Code, a change in legal identity does not affect the share of inheritance because civil inheritance law does not differentiate inheritance portions based on gender.
