Abstract

This article discusses about the five of sunna of fithrah namely khitan (to circumcise), to shave the hair of penis (istih}dād), shave the hair of armpit (natf al-ibt}), cutting the nails (taqlīm al-az}āfīr) and cutting the moustache (qas} al-syārib) in six hadith books (al-kutub al-sittah). These five of sunna of fithrah did by Muslim society although they did’nt know the evidence or hadith. This article also explained about the chain of transmitter (sanad/isnad) and content of the hadith (matn) so we know who and where the hadith of sunna of fithrah. Besides that, this article tried to explains briefly about thats depend on the modern sciences. The modern research of sciences found that if we always do this five sunna of fithrah we will free from the disease, especially cancer, etc.

Abstract

This article discusses Jane Dammen Mcauliffe, an orientalist. He was one of the orientalist who was keen to study of Qur’an. His interest rest on religiosities issues, especially about the views of Islam on Christians. The conclusions derived from this article, the study of the appreciation of Qur’an on Christians that has been done by Mcauliffe in his works, at least provide a new view that Qur’an substantially do not discredit the religious groups outside of Islam. This perspective, in the context of the relationship between religions, is very important to be voiced. With that kind of junderstanding, the interpretation on Qur’an will be able to transform from exclusivity to inclusivity. Thus, al-Qur’an is no longer made as the legitimacy by certain groups to attack other groups.

Abstract

This article discusses the problems of bid’ah in society. The problems originated from differences in the public’s understanding of the hadis kullu bid’atin dlalalah. Such defferences include the definition of bid’ah, bid’ah classification, and the methods used to judge the practices that are not practiced by Rasulullah, companions, and scholars of the Salaf. The situation often cause conflicts in society. To solve this problem, Peter L. Berger gave some solution by theory of social contruction. This theory told us that the problems of bid’ah are caused by three processes, there are eksternalitation, objectivation, and internalitation. And the problems can be solved by two processes, there are institusionalitation and socialization.Key Word: Bid’ah, Hadis, Sosial Contruction.

Abstract

line"> <This paper aims to describe the use of Qur’anic verses in a Suf healing method of the late Muhammad Zuhri at a clinic called Yayasan Barzakh, which was open to any patient including AIDS sufferers. The research examines the profie of both Zuhri and his foundation, the mechanism of healing especially the use of Qur’anic verses in the healing process and the result of the method. Data includes the documentation and interview. The fidings of the research are, fist, Muhammad Zuhri was a local public fiure who was later widely known, while Barzakh Foundation was a nonprofi organization aimed to heal people mentally or physically. Second, Qur’anic verses use exists in his healing method by variety of ways. Third, in the record keeping, it was only one ODHA who totally recovered from AIDS while some others were able to extend the lifetime

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang persoalan makna dari u>li al-amr dalam Alqur’an. Sejauh ini, pemaknaan terhadap u>li@ al-amr masih menuai perdebatan. Sebut saja seperti persoalan penetapan Syawal dan persoalan nikah sirri (baca: nikah secara samar atau tanpa pengakuan negara). Perbedaan tersebut disebabkan karena terdapat pemaknaan yang berbeda terhadap kata u>li@ al-amr ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori kontekstual Abdullah Saeed. Abdullah Saeed menawarkan sistem interpretasi kontekstual yang meliputi, pertama, analisis linguistik dan telaah asba>b an-nuzul mikro-makro. Kedua, penafsiran ulama dari generasi ke generasi. Ketiga, yakni kontekstualisasi. Ketiganya akan digunakan untuk melihat makna historis dan makna kontemporer u>lil al-amr.Kata Kunci: u>li@ al-amr, kontemporer, Abdullah Saeed.

Abstract

; ">This article is trying to dwell upon a subject about an Indonesian opuswhich could be categorized into Koranic and Hadith Studies, that is alMaṣābiḥ al-Nūrāniyah f Naẓm al-Aḥādīs al-Qur’āniyyah, by K.H. AbdullahUmar al-Hafiz (1929-2001). He were a well-known muslim scholar inKoranic Studies particularly for Islamic Boarding School communities inSemarang. His effort in helping forward the education on Koranic studieswere recognized in several regions in Indonesia as well as to the nearestneighboring countries. Al-Maṣābiḥ al-Nūrāniyah f Naẓm al-Aḥādīs alQur’āniyyah is unique, it comprises with poems of Prophet Muhammad’shadiths that consist of all objects about Koran especially related to theposition of Koran, the virtues of memorizing, and reading it. There are53 palindromes of poem, each of 2 poems are a prelude which consist ofapprobation to Allah and invocation to the Prophet. While the rest of thebook is the chapter “Fad} a>’il al-Qur’a>n“ (The virtues of Koran) amountingabout 51 poem palindromes. Each of them is translated row by row andwas used for a traditional translating in traditional Islamic boardingschools. The purpose of this practice is to get a language learning, eithernahwu, saraf or vocabularies mastering.

Abstract

S}ah}i>h} al-Bukha>ri> is a masterpiece in hadith’s field that known as the most authentic among others (beside Koran). There are some reasons for the extraordinary. One of them is the tight of the author (al-Bukhārī) on sorting out the sanads between him and the other narrators (ruwāh) who are related to the Prophet. However, it can’t be denied that apparently, some of the narrators follow the different sect (Shiah etc.) with the sect that al-Bukhārī do (Sunnī). Therefore, it can be understood that there are still some tolerance on the tight of his study for hadith. If we deepen, it can be concluded that this tolerance basically could be applied in the early context, that is in the plural life- the awareness of plurality, the field separation (secred and profane) and credibelity of each person.Keywords: Nilai-nilai Toleransi, Non-Sunnī, S}ah}i>h} al-Bukhārī.

Abstract

The study of the sanad is very important in hadith studies. This article attempts to analyze and criticize Syuhudi Ismail theory of the ittisal sanad (the connectedness of hadith chain). The author comes to two conclusions. First, a chain hadith is considered muttasil (unbroken) if each narrator to the previous nearest narrator validly existing under the provisions of tahammul wa 'al-ada’  al-hadis and according to historical provisions. Second, the credibility, religious commitment, and  cleverty (s}iqah, ‘adalah, d}âbit}) are not something that are essential in determining ittisal sanad. The ‘adalah (religious commitment) (without cleverty) should be sufficient, as long as it does not fall on mudallis narrators category.

Abstract

The article that is written by Umar Abidin discusses al-Tustari’s theory of ta’wīl and his interpretation of certain verses, which can be called ta’wīl. According al-Tustari, every word of the Qur’an has four kinds of meaning: zahir (exoteric meaning), batin (essoteric/hidden meaning), hadd (legal meaning) and matla‘ (deepest meaning). An attempt to grasp the hidden and deepest meaning is called ta’wīl . In order to elaborate al-Tustari’s ta’wīl, the author of this article also discusses his interpretation of Surat al-Nur: 35. In conclusion, Abidin says that al-Tustari had made a significant contribution to the sufistic interpretation of the Qur’an.

Abstract

This paper compares two translations of the Qur’an: Al-Quran dan Terjemahnya by the team of the Ministry of Religious Affairs/MORA and Al-Quran Tarjamah Tafsiriyah by Muhammad Thalib. Scholars argue differently as to whether the Qur’an is translatable or not. Several classical and contemporary scholars argue that translating the Qur’an is forbidden (haram), while others allow it. Muhammad Thalib claims that Al-Quran dan Terjemahnya includes literal (harfiyah) translation, which is forbidden by scholars, and contains 3400 errors. On that basis, he composed Al-Quran Tarjamah Tafsiriyah as a correction of the former translation. I compare Al-Quran dan Terjemahnya’s translations of several verses on theological doctrine, syari’ah and mu’amalah, of which Thalib considers as containing errors, and those of Thalib’s translation himself to look for similarities and differences. The research shows that there is no significant difference between the two translations. The difference was limited to their respective method and purpose. MORA’s translation was oriented to translate the Qur’an faithfully, while Muhammad Thalib’s translation was oriented to provide an interpretive translation. For some verses, Thalib’s translation provides clearer meaning than that MORA’s. I argue that while translation errors are found in Thalib’s translation, none is found in MORA’s translation.Key words: Al-Quran Terjemahnya, Tarjamah Tafsiriyah, comparison, strength, weakness.
