Abstract

Abstract: Terrorism constitutes a transnational crime that instills significant fear in society. As a crime against humanity, terrorism is categorized as an extraordinary crime due to its capacity to incite widespread chaos under the guise of religion, ideology, or organizational affiliation. In Indonesia, acts of terrorism are regulated under Law No. 5 of 2018 concerning the Eradication of Terrorism Crimes. The elusive and well-connected nature of terrorist networks makes their dismantling particularly challenging. The ease of cross-border movement further complicates efforts to disrupt these networks. Therefore, addressing terrorism effectively requires coordinated actions through bilateral, regional, and international cooperation. This study employs a normative legal research method, grounded in legal theory, using a legislative and literature-based approach. The objective of this research is to examine the underlying motivations that lead individuals to engage in terrorism and to analyze the framework of criminal liability for those who participate in acts of terrorism within Indonesia. Keywords: Criminal Law Accountability, Perpetrators, Crimes, Terrorism.

Abstract

Abstract: Digital media is now a strategic tool for government agencies in conveying messages and building relationships with the public. One of them is by using digital media (YouTube) as a means of information. This study aims to analyze the role of digital media Public Relations (PR) of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) in tax campaigns through the YouTube @DitjenPajakRI platform. This study uses a qualitative content analysis approach to campaign videos uploaded on the official DJP YouTube channel within a certain period of time. The results of the study show that PR DJP uses YouTube not only as an information medium, but also as an educational and persuasive tool in increasing public tax awareness. Campaign messages are packaged with an attractive visual style, a communicative narrative approach, and utilizing public figures to strengthen the impact of the message. In addition, interactions through comments and the number of views indicate quite high public participation. This study concludes that digital media, especially YouTube, has significant effectiveness in supporting PR DJP's communication strategy in socializing tax policies and obligations more widely and inclusively. Keywords: Digital Media, Public Relations, Tax Campaign, Directorate General of Taxes, Youtube.

Abstract

Abstract:This study explores the patterns of digital communication within the family between Generation X parents and Generation Z children through the use of WhatsApp. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and data collection through in-depth interviews with informants from both generations. The findings indicate differences in orientation and communication intensity. Parents tend to use voice and video calls as more personal communication tools, while Generation Z is more active in using the chat feature, often accompanied by emoticons and stickers. In family WhatsApp groups, parents are more active in sharing information links, while children tend to respond passively due to concerns over content credibility. This disparity highlights a gap in digital literacy and communication preferences between generations, affecting the emotional effectiveness of family interactions. The study recommends improving shared digital literacy and developing inclusive family communication strategies to ensure harmonious and adaptive intergenerational communication in the digital era. Keywords: Family communication, WhatsApp, Generation X, Generation Z, Digital literacy

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of love of money on tax evasion with moral reasoning as a mediating variable among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) taxpayers in West Sumatra Province. The research employed a quantitative explanatory approach with purposive sampling. A total of 100 respondents who possessed active taxpayer identification numbers (NPWP) and had submitted annual tax returns for at least the last two years were selected as samples. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that love of money has a significant positive effect on tax evasion and a significant negative effect on moral reasoning. Furthermore, moral reasoning has a significant negative effect on tax evasion. The mediation test indicates that moral reasoning partially mediates the relationship between love of money and tax evasion. These findings suggest that a high materialistic orientation increases the tendency to evade taxes; however, this effect can be mitigated through strengthened moral reasoning. Keywords: love of money, moral reasoning, tax evasion, MSMEs, PLS-SEM

Abstract

Abstract: Social media platforms such as Facebook are now widely used as tools for product promotion and transactions. However, this transaction model often lacks adequate legal protection for consumers. This study aims to analyze the form of legal protection for consumers who purchase products through Facebook advertisements. The research method used is normative juridical, with a statutory and literature approach. The findings indicate that transactions through Facebook ads are generally conducted directly between sellers and buyers without third-party intermediaries, thereby increasing the risk of consumer loss—especially in cases of fraud, mismatched goods, or undelivered products. Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection has not been fully effective in protecting consumers in such transactions, as it does not specifically regulate commercial activities on social media. Therefore, additional regulations are needed, along with efforts to improve public digital literacy so that consumers better understand their rights and avoid potential losses. Keywords: consumer protection, Facebook ads, online transactions.

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the concept and application of corporate criminal liability of hospitals in Indonesia, particularly in cases of patient deaths caused by systemic negligence. In the current legal practice, criminal responsibility in medical malpractice cases is often limited to individual health professionals, while institutional failures within the hospital management system are rarely held accountable. This creates a legal vacuum and impedes justice for the victims. The research uses a normative legal method with a statutory, conceptual, and case approach. The study analyzes statutory provisions, legal doctrines, and the District Court Decision No. 95/Pid.Sus/2020/PN.Bdg, in which a patient died due to delayed medical response caused by triage failure and poor hospital coordination systems. Findings of this research affirm that hospitals, as legal entities (corporations), can be held criminally liable if there is evidence of institutional negligence or failure in supervision, procedures, and medical service management that results in the death of a patient. The Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP) under Law No. 1 of 2023 provides a legal basis for imposing criminal sanctions on corporations, including hospitals. However, legal uncertainty still exists due to the absence of sector-specific regulations on healthcare institutional liability. This research calls for the reformulation of laws related to healthcare services to accommodate explicit criminal liability provisions for hospitals. Strengthening hospital accountability is essential to protect patients’ rights and ensure quality and safe healthcare services. Keywords: corporate criminal liability, hospital, systemic negligence, medical malpractice, patient rights, health law.
