Islamic studies is not merely discussing on sacred corpus only, but everyday life of Islam also. Abstract

Historically, Mecca, which lies on Arabian Peninsula, could not be separated with the development of Islamic education. This is not only due to the city as the birth place of Mohammad the prophet of Allah SWT, but also where the Islamic education started. Islamic education in early Mecca developed under the two biggest civilizations: Roman and Persian. Meanwhile, it was also faced the Jahiliya regime that strongly rooted in the Arabian Mecca communities. The strength of Mecca inhabitants in holding their pagan belief made the two civilizations have no significant influences in the area. Therefore, Mecca was politically and culturally free of any other influences. Moreover, Ibnu Khadun, as cited by A. Sjalabi, once said that Arabian Peninsula was never entered by foreigners. That is why the language is still pure. Geographically, Mecca is located in the west side of the Saudi Arabian Emperor, surrounded by mountains of 300 meters above sea level. Its terrace, made Mecca unfavorable for foreigners and also for Roman and Persian to occupy it as their colony. The complexities of Mecca make it suitable for Muhammad SAW to do the mission of spreading Islam in the region.

Indonesia even further left behind from the western in terms of economic affairs. Therefore, the legal system of Islamic economics could be an alternative in the midst of a national economic downturn.

Abstract

In this era of disruption, many people spend their activities in cyberspace, including in terms of studying the religious doctrines. However, not a few of them are trapped in the textualist religious doctrine, so the application of religious values that are rahmatan lil ‘alamin is not actualized properly. Seeing this phenomenon, Abou El Fadl considered that in this modern era the interpretation of Islamic legal sources, both the Qur'an and Hadith textually, would not be able to carry humanist religious messages. Therefore, a hermeneutic method is needed as a tool in revealing the meaning behind the sound of the sacred texts in religion. Keywords: Hermeneutic, Aboe El Fadl, and Islamic Law

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a multicultural nation, such as culture, ethnicity, religion or anything else. As a monotheistic religion, Islam does not necessarily accept the diversity of cultures it encounters in Indonesia. Regarding amulets for example, as objects of cultural heritage that are believed to have power, Islam underlines with a red thread. The reason is, with tiny objects that are very vulnerable to bring users in polytheism. In addressing this common thread, diverse views and attitudes of Muslims emerge. This article discusses the amulet contestation in an online society. From the search results, obtained several references in the form of the Prophet's hadith, atsar companions, and opinions of scholars related to this talisman. The first two references, present information on permissibility as well as a ban on the use of talismans. While the latter is more about explaining core vocabulary which is considered as the key to understanding this issue. In terms of contestation that occurs in online communities, there are four trends that can be used as a planner of their attitude; scientific data, the objectivity of assessment, insight about talismans, and how to express opinions. Each suggests there are mutual influences and self-existence. Then at the level of their understanding of the Islamic text that exists, those who are allergic to amulets only stop at the hadith that forbids it. They are reluctant to explore more information about other traditions or explanations than the traditions they hold as the other online communities do.Keywords: Contestation, Amulet, Online Society, and Understanding Of Religion.
