Abstract

Based on observations, the Science Techno Park Building of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University requires a fire prevention system because many students use the facility for activities. Therefore, people who use the building have the potential to cause a fire. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of buildings and land, analyze fire protection needs and plan the placement of fire protection equipment in the Science Techno Park Building of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University. Literature studies, agency visits, observations, measurements, and fire safety system assessments are some examples of quantitative research and data collection methods. The fire safety system assessment includes passive and active systems. (1) The sprinklers used are upright, pendant type, and have a temperature sensitivity of 65˚C. The liquid in the tube is red in color. This finding is based on the data obtained. (2) A single water storage tank (reservoir) is used to store clean water needed daily and fire extinguishers. (3) The maximum water volume required is 494 m3, although the Groundwater Tanks (GWT) in Buildings A and B of Sains Techno Park have a capacity of 225 m3. It is recommended that hydrants and sprinklers be installed immediately in Science Techno Park buildings A and B of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of a three-signal intersection located in Lowokwaru Subdistrict, Malang City, at Cengkeh Road, Kalpataru Road, and Dewandaru Road. This triangle suffers from congestion problems and long vehicle queues. The huge amount of traffic exceeds the capacity of the road, which causes a decrease in speed, longer delays, and many queues of vehicles. This research was conducted quantitatively using a descriptive approach. Data was collected through field surveys with direct observation and the use of tools such as research forms, watches, hand gauges, and digital cameras. Secondary data came from relevant institutions, such as the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Malang City Transportation Office. In accordance with the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI), the analysis was carried out by calculating traffic volume, road capacity, degree of saturation, delay, and queuing opportunities. The analysis shows that in the peak hour, this intersection has a degree of saturation (DJ) of 1,5, which far exceeds the PKJI required DJ < 0,85, and its level of service is classified as very poor. This performance degradation contributes to prolonged congestion and queuing in the area. To address this problem, a zebra crossing on Jalan Cengkeh and additional sidewalks at the intersection are recommended to reduce delay and improve intersection performance. This research is expected to provide practical solutions to improve traffic conditions at the intersection and reduce its negative impact on road users.

Abstract

Purwosekar village does not have an effective clean water distribution system. Sumber Jenon is located about 3.1km from Purwosekar village, precisely in Gunungronggo village, Tajinan sub-district. Sumber Jenon has potential for continuous water availability throughout the year, from the measurement of instantaneous discharge in getting potential from Sumber Jenon water of 481 liters/det. Tajinan sub-district consists of 12 villages, one of which is Purwosekar village. In 2024 Purwosekar village has a population of 4,786 people, while the projection of 2030 is 5,414 people. The clean water demand taken is 80 l/person/day in accordance with the minimum service standard for rural water. The water demand of the population in Purwosekar Village in 2024 amounted to 6.38 l/dt, in 2030 it amounted to 7.22 l/dt. Pipe network planning is based on water demand in 2030 using epanet 2.0 software. Clean water distribution in Purwosekar Village requires 6,978 meters of pipe, with pipe diameters varying from 2 inches (60mm) to 6 inches (165mm). The pipe used is PVC pipe with a pipe roughness coefficient of Hazen William 120. The length of pipe required for a diameter of 6 inches (165mm) is 1452m, diameter 5 inches (144 mm) 1867m, diameter 4 inches (140mm) 1345m, diameter 3 inches (89 mm) 1281m and diameter 2 inches (60mm) 1033m.

Abstract

The rights and responsibilities of pedestrians are regulated by legislation as the government priorities their safety, security and convenience. Pedestrians are entitled to the provision of supporting facilities such as road surfaces, crossings, and other facilities in accordance with Article 131 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transport. The Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) is made with the aim that circulation in traffic does not interfere with other transportation, so that the path to the specified destination can run smoothly. The result of the satisfaction level is 61.20%, which means that the level of satisfaction and the level of importance of the facilities that have been provided by the management of the pedestrian bridge is satisfactory / good. Of the 13 attributes of the questionnaire, there are 3 attributes that are included in quadrant I (top priority), these attributes are very important but their performance is not satisfactory. Efforts to increase the satisfaction of users of the pedestrian bridge (JPO) Jalan Jaksa Agung in Malang City are in the position of quadrant I space B, namely Stable Growth Strategy / stable growth strategy. These results indicate that there is a need for a strategy to maintain existing growth by increasing strengths and taking advantage of opportunities to achieve the expected quality of facilities so that the condition of the JPO building improves to make it easier for users.

Abstract

Traditional market activities often cause an increase in vehicle traffic, which impacts the performance of surrounding roads. The Oro-Oro Dowo People's Market in Malang City is one such economic hub with high activity intensity, potentially causing side effects and congestion on Jalan Guntur, the main access road to the market. This study aims to analyze the performance of Jalan Guntur and examine the impact of Oro-Oro Dowo Market activities on traffic conditions on this road. This study uses a quantitative approach through field surveys to obtain primary data in the form of traffic volume, side obstacles, and road geometric characteristics. Observations were conducted for seven days during the market's operating hours. Road performance analysis was conducted using the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) method, including road capacity calculations, saturation levels, and road service levels. The results of the study show that market activities have a significant impact on the performance of the Guntur Road section. Traffic volume increases during rush hour, especially on weekends. The highest saturation degree value recorded was 0.86 on Sunday, indicating that the road service level was in category E, meaning that traffic conditions were approaching maximum capacity and had the potential for congestion. The dominant side obstacles were caused by parking on the road, pedestrian activity, and loading and unloading activities by traders. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the activities of the Oro-Oro Dowo Market significantly reduce the performance of the Guntur Road section. Therefore, efforts are needed in the form of parking arrangements, control of side obstacles, and the application of traffic engineering to improve the smoothness and performance of roads in the market area.

Abstract

This study focuses on evaluating fire protection systems at gas stations, which are vital infrastructure for fuel supply. The main objective of this study is to assess the availability of fire protection systems and the need for fire extinguishers to minimize the risk of fire. The methods applied include a quantitative descriptive approach through field observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that gas stations have adequate supplies of water and light fire extinguishers. However, active protection systems, including fire detectors, sprinklers, and hydrants, are still inadequate, with a recorded reliability rate of only 24% and field facility completeness reaching 11.7%. For passive protection and evacuation facilities, the scores were 18.79% and 22.45%, respectively, which were considered quite good. These findings recommend the installation of at least three 9 kg fire extinguishers, four pillar hydrants, and thirty sprinkler points. By implementing these recommendations, it is hoped that gas stations can improve the safety of service users and reduce the risk of fire, as well as comply with existing safety regulations. This study is expected to serve as a reference for gas station managers and related parties in their efforts to improve fire protection and safety systems at public fuel supply facilities.
