Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the physical and functional performance of infrastructure and determine management priorities in the Beringin Irrigation Area (DI), Wajak District, which serves 131 hectares of agricultural land. Decreased performance of irrigation networks caused by sedimentation conditions and existing damage. The method used is a quantitative approach through a survey of infrastructure inventory in each irrigation network segment. Performance evaluation is carried out based on the Irrigation System Performance Index standard, which includes assessment of the physical condition and function of the building. The infrastructure of DI Beringin as a whole includes the main building (intake), carrier channels, complementary buildings, sewers, and inspection roads. The results of the study showed variations in conditions in each infrastructure component. The main building shows optimal performance with a value of 81% (Good/Routine Maintenance category). On the other hand, complementary buildings recorded the lowest value of 60.59% which indicates the category of Moderately Damaged and requires handling in the form of rehabilitation. These findings confirm that although the infrastructure is still complete in its existence, a priority management strategy is needed to prevent further degradation of function. The priority of the treatment produced is the rehabilitation of complementary buildings and sewers. Periodic maintenance for Carrier Lines and routine maintenance for main buildings and inspection roads. Medium handling priority for complementary buildings and sewer lines and low for carrier lines. The results of this study are expected to be recommendations for irrigation managers in determining the scale of maintenance priorities so that the distribution of water to agricultural land is maintained in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Climate change poses significant challenges to environmental sustainability and socio-cultural resilience, particularly in regions rich in local arts and cultural heritage. This study aims to analyze the role of local arts and culture in supporting sustainable infrastructure development as a climate change mitigation strategy. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through literature review, policy document analysis, and examination of relevant previous studies. The findings indicate that local arts and culture effectively function as environmental communication media, public education tools, and mechanisms to strengthen community participation in the planning and maintenance of green infrastructure. The integration of local wisdom values into infrastructure design and implementation enhances environmental awareness, social acceptance, and long-term sustainability of development programs. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited policy support, insufficient funding, and weak cross-sector collaboration. This study concludes that the synergy between arts, culture, and sustainable infrastructure represents a strategic and context-based approach to climate change mitigation, requiring strong policy frameworks and active community involvement.

Abstract

Roads are an essential form of land transportation that promotes access to everyday essentials, community movement, and economic activity. The purpose of this research is to determine the presence of side barriers on Labuan Bajo City's Batu Cermin Street, examine them, and assess how they affect traffic flow. The data gathered using a quantitative descriptive research technique included autos entering and exiting side accesses, slow-moving vehicles, parked or stopped cars, and pedestrians. According to the research, side barriers were rather common, with values of 3,469.4 in the south and 3,054.3 in the north. The primary sources of these issues include haphazard parking practices, roadside street sellers, and traffic movement from side lanes to the main road. Road performance is severely disrupted by these circumstances, which also delay traffic and raise the possibility of congestion. The results of the research lend credence to the idea that side barriers should be taken into account when organizing and overseeing urban transportation, as they are an essential part of traffic flow. Therefore, to improve traffic conditions in this region, improved management measures are required, including the provision of sufficient parking spaces and the arranging of street sellers.

Abstract

Bioethanol is a renewable energy source with significant potential to replace fossil fuels and is widely applied in various industrial sectors. However, bioethanol production in Indonesia still relies heavily on food-based raw materials, raising sustainability and food security concerns. Therefore, the utilization of non-food renewable biomass is essential. Pineapple peel waste is an abundant lignocellulosic by-product that has not been optimally utilized, despite its high carbohydrate content suitable for bioethanol production. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of hydrochloric acid (HCl) concentration during the hydrolysis process on bioethanol production from pineapple peel waste. An experimental method was employed, consisting of raw material preparation, acid hydrolysis using HCl concentrations of 4%, 5%, and 6% at 90°C, fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae for five days, and purification through distillation. The parameters analyzed included ethanol concentration, yield percentage, and pH of the bioethanol product. The results showed that increasing HCl concentration enhanced ethanol concentration, with the highest value of 58.67% obtained at 6% HCl. In contrast, the highest yield (2.87%) was achieved at 4% HCl, while higher acid concentrations led to a decrease in yield, likely due to the formation of inhibitory compounds during hydrolysis. The pH values ranged from 3.4 to 3.8, indicating acidic characteristics. It can be concluded that hydrolysis using 6% HCl at 90°C was the most effective condition for increasing ethanol concentration, although the resulting bioethanol has not yet met the Indonesian National Standard, indicating the need for further optimization.

Abstract

There is a relatively large volume of traffic at the intersection without traffic lights on Jalan Raya Bandulan, Jalan Barat, and Jalan Bandulan in Sukun District, Malang City. This intersection does not yet have a traffic signal device (APILL). Especially during rush hour, this condition often causes vehicle congestion, which leads to irregular traffic and frequent traffic jams. This study uses a quantitative research design with a descriptive research type. Primary and secondary data are needed for proper data collection. This study aims to determine traffic performance at the intersection of Jalan Raya Bandulan, Jalan Barat, and Jalan Bandulan in Sukun District, Malang City. The results of the performance analysis at the intersection show that vehicle delays are relatively substantial, with congested traffic flow, long queues, and vehicle speeds dropping to less than 30 km/hour. Vehicle speed and volume can decrease to almost zero in some circumstances, especially when there are long queues, even when the reported traffic volume is not too high. This intersection is classified as service level E according to the service level assessment. The average delay per vehicle is 34.85 seconds, indicating that traffic conditions are approaching saturation and require more control.

Abstract

Formwork that is often used in construction projects is multiplex formwork. Multiplex is formwork made of wood and is classified as conventional formwork that is also resistant to moisture. Multiplex is an efficient formwork material because it is easy to produce, economical, and flexible to use, even in constructions with complex designs. The use of efficient and effective construction materials is an important aspect of building design, especially in the context of multi-story building construction. In recent years, the use of multiplex as a construction material for floor and beam formwork has gained greater attention. Multiplex, which is made of bonded layers of wood, has various advantages, such as being lightweight, easy to install, and reusable. The selection of formwork installation methods determines the quality of concrete that can be achieved, because formwork that is too difficult to install or takes too long to reuse will result in suboptimal concrete work. Based on the formwork material shrinkage value on each floor, for example on the first (second) floor with a shrinkage value of 100%-93.45%=6.55% while the shrinkage value on the second floor (third) reaches 100%-88.84%=11.16%, and the effectiveness of repeated formwork use in formwork work is the reuse of formwork on the first floor (first) by 93.45% and on the second floor (second) by 88.84%.

Abstract

Traffic congestion problems in urban areas often stem from the inefficiency of unsignalized intersections, as observed at the three-way intersection of Jalan Bondowoso and Jalan Jombang in Malang City. This study aims to evaluate the operational conditions of this type 322 intersection, located in a commercial area, using the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) and to formulate effective mitigation solutions. Based on field surveys, the highest peak traffic volume was recorded on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, reaching 5,844 vehicles/hour. Performance analysis shows that the current condition of the intersection is approaching a critical limit, with a capacity (C) of 3,348 vehicles/hour and a degree of saturation (Dj) of 0.77. These parameters place the intersection at Level of Service (LOS) D, characterized by unstable traffic flow and decreasing speeds. Furthermore, a five-year performance projection estimates a sharp degradation, with the degree of saturation surging to 1.76, resulting in Level of Service F, or total traffic congestion. To prevent this decline, a series of alternative solutions are proposed, including widening Jalan Bondowoso to 8.5 meters and Jalan Jombang to 7 meters, adding a 0.5-meter median to the major road, and implementing traffic management measures such as prohibiting right turns and parking/stopping at all intersection arms. Simulation results demonstrate that these solutions can significantly improve performance, reducing the degree of saturation to 0.69 and upgrading the Level of Service to C. This indicates that traffic flow can be stabilized through appropriate physical modifications and regulations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of on-street parking on traffic flow performance in the Singha Park and Merjosari Flower Garden areas of Malang City. On-street parking is an urban transportation problem that has the potential to reduce road capacity and disrupt traffic flow. This study uses a quantitative approach with a field survey method that refers to the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). The data collected includes traffic volume, road capacity, degree of saturation, road service level, and parking characteristics, including the availability and demand for parking spaces. The results show that parking on the road significantly reduces the effective capacity of vehicle lanes, increases side obstacles, and reduces traffic flow performance, especially during rush hour. At the research location, there are 26 motorcycle parking spaces with a parking waiting time of between five and six minutes. However, the demand for parking spaces exceeds the number of available spaces, putting pressure on traffic performance. Road performance analysis shows that the service level is in category C with a saturation degree of 0.53, indicating that traffic flow is still relatively stable but disruptions are beginning to be felt by road users. The highest number of side obstructions recorded was 1,188 incidents on Saturday. In addition, the modeling results show that removing parking spaces on the road has the potential to increase road capacity and reduce traffic congestion. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing effective and sustainable parking management strategies to improve traffic performance, comfort, and safety for road users in high-activity urban areas, especially urban recreational areas with high visitor traffic.

Abstract

The performance of the unsignalized intersections at Jalan Mergan Raya and Jalan S. Supriadi in Malang City often experiences extreme traffic congestion, especially during rush hour. This study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of traffic patterns at these intersections and provide suggestions on how to improve them. This research uses a quantitative research design. Primary and secondary data were collected through direct surveys. The primary survey consisted of identifying side obstacles, calculating vehicle volume, and observing the physical form of the intersection. To learn more about population and vehicle growth, secondary data were obtained from the Malang City Statistics Agency (BPS). The 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) were used to analyze the data, which included determining the degree of saturation (DJ), traffic volume, intersection capacity, delays, and the possibility of queues. The rate of vehicle growth was taken into account when forecasting intersection performance for the next five years. Based on the findings, the current intersection capacity is 3602 seconds per hour. Performance analysis shows a degree of saturation (DJ) of 1.04, indicating erratic traffic patterns and potential congestion. The potential for queuing ranges from 43.52% to 86.44%, with an average traffic delay of 17.52 seconds/vehicle. Traffic conditions are poor, as indicated by the current level of service (LOS), which is F. Traffic volume is expected to increase significantly over the next five years, with DJ reaching 1.70. This indicates that if corrective measures are not taken, intersection performance will continue to deteriorate and the LOS will remain at F. To improve intersection performance, this study recommends improving traffic signs and conducting additional research on the use of Traffic Signal Devices (APILL).

Abstract

The development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has made an important contribution to improving efficiency, accuracy, and data integration in the planning and implementation of construction projects. The application of BIM enables comprehensive visualization of buildings, control of implementation time, and preparation of more measurable cost estimates. This study discusses the application of BIM in the construction project of Melati Husada Hospital in Malang City using Tekla Structures software as the main structural modeling tool. The objectives of this study are to produce a three-dimensional (3D) structural model, integrate the work schedule into four dimensions (4D), and compile a five-dimensional (5D) construction cost estimate. The method used is a case study method using project shop drawing data as the basis for modeling. Modeling is carried out on the main structural elements, including foundations, beams, columns, slabs, and floor plates, in accordance with the building's structural design. The resulting 3D model is then combined with the project implementation schedule to form a 4D construction simulation so that the sequence of work can be visualized in a more planned and systematic manner. In addition, 5D modeling is used to generate construction cost estimates based on the volume of work obtained from the BIM model. The results of the study show that all main structural elements were successfully modeled in 3D. The 4D simulation shows that the project will commence on July 8, 2025, and be completed on December 23, 2025. The estimated cost of structural work includes foundation, sloof, column, beam, and floor slab work, with a total construction cost of IDR 3,215,280,913.
