Abstract

As Nietzsche criticized the modernity to its deepest notion, rationality, The Doors did their criticism through their songs, especially through the stage acts with full of drunkenness and brutality. According to Nietzsche, the contradictions of de facto life cannot be handled by relying on the rationality since it has boundaries and, anyway, the human is the life itself, thereby, he must create a selfhood (the self). He should be inside the life. Inevitably, The Doors music group was considered the most brutal band in the history of rock music. However, within the framework of the Nietzschean tragedy, The Doors may be baptized in the name of god Dionysius – the god of drunkenness.

Abstract

The Balinese has uniqueness concerning its verbs, especially those undergone the process of nasal- ization (using prefix N- (Ng-)). By this phenomenon, it is really interesting to analyze the variation of the nasalized verbs morphophonemically and their syntactic function in the Balinese sentences. Re- garding these concerns, the descriptive-qualitative method was applied. Therefore, it can be concluded that the nasalized verbs with N- (Ng-) are varied morphophonemically (having complementary distri- bution) through the allomorphs as /n-/, /m-/, /ng-/, and /ny-/. The distributions depend on the initi- ating phoneme of the stems that undergo the process of affixation. Then, the function of the nasalized verbs with N- (or Ng-) is as the nucleus of the cores or predicates to form active sentences that have maximally two arguments.

Abstract

The marginalization of the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village can be observed in the form of the decrease of the traditional art values in the society, the displacement of traditional arts, the seculariza- tion of the traditional art, the narrowing of the traditional art performances, the hegemony of the modern art to that of the traditional one. Second, there are two factors that cause the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village to be marginalized, namely, internal and external factors. The internal factors include lack of talent, lack of public interest, lack of open attitude, lack of funding from the govern- ment. The external factors are economics, technology and information, the function shift of the tradi- tional gamelan. Third, the impact of the marginalization of the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village is in the form of the failure to form regeneration, failure of reconstruction effort, failure of revitalization effort.

Abstract

Before the Hinduism began to influence the Balinese culture, the Balinese society had been applying symbols as one part of their ritual tradition. One of the symbols was in the form of feminine force. This has been applied as the symbol of fertility which has been traditionally handed down. In the city of Denpasar, there is similar tradition, in which the feminine force is manifested under the believe that the citizen would be bestowed with successful supports, especially for those who have business occupation. The manifestation is in the form of Ratu Niang, as the representation of the Almighty God. In this man- ifestation, God is belived to bless the community to successfully improve their prosperity and welfare. In Denpasar, there are several sites of this Ratu Niang worship, the unique one is located at Prima Me- dika Hospital, on the South part of Jero Kuta and the biggest one is at Pura Geria Anyar Tanah Kilap

Abstract

The development of space understanding in the Balinese architecture is deeply influenced by the theology, philosophy, and concepts of the Hinduism. Therefore, the real existence of the Balinese spatial layout is the grounding of the Hindu ideology. The Hindu teachings such as tat twam asi, bhuana agung - bhuana alit, panca maha bhuta, tri hita karana, tri bhuwana, purusha-pradhana, and others have been instilled in the practical principle of the Balinese architecture such as tri mandala, sanga mandala, tri angga, sukat ‘measurement’, natah, decoration, color, texture, and others. The Hindu spir- ituality in the Balinese and spatial architecture is manifested by: (1) Arrangement of the physical structure, building, landscape, anthropometry, topography, geography, and local climate, and aesthet- ics (form of yoga). (2) Various meanings and symbols on the spatial and physical layout of the building (form of yantra and tantra). (3) Procedures for building, accompanying rituals during pre-construc- tion, construction, and post-construction periods symbolize the ‘living building figures’ (mantra and mudra forms).

Santi parwa is the twelfth of the Mahabharata series. It has its own specialties compared with the other parwas. It implies how a leader should take actions. The leader should not only give priority to his personal feelings, but must concern what his people necessarily need. The leader has to show how the actions should be taken so that they conform to the values of the Hindu character education to reach the ultimate goal, santi (peace). The structure of the Santi Parwa story is in the form of the clas- sical Hindu literature, the structure of the Santi Parwa story consists of two parts: the extrinsic struc- ture and the intrinsic structure. The value of the character education found, among the eighteen char- acters, are five characters contained: religious, honest, friendly/ communicative, peace loving, and responsibility. The response from the anak nyastra states that Santi Parwa has the function of educa- tion, culture, religion, and entertainment.

Abstract

The feminism movement in the field of classical literature in Bali is known to rise after a female au- thor struggling from the Dutch intervention. This female figure was Ida I Dewa Agung Istri Kania. She had compiled several literary works through her criticism and “lango”, either herself or accompanied by her pupils. The forms of her works are kakawin, kidung, geguritan, and tutur. The most popular work is Kakawin Pralambang Bhasa Wewatekan. This Kakawin tells about death body burning cere- mony (Patiwa-tiwa and Baligya). It describes the entrance of Dutch into Bali and the struggle to fight against in Kusamba, Klungkung. There is also a story concerning the memorandum of understanding between Klungkung, Gianyar, Bangli, and Payangan. These stories come along with several other sto- ries behind some factual events made in Kusamba, Sweta Lombok, Tabanan, as well as in Klungkung. It is very interesting that the phenomenal Ida I Dewa Agung Istri Kania is analyzed on the sociology of literature viewpoint. It is supposed to have significance for the younger and future generations, at least in Bali. The Balinese society must be proud of having their own hero, King, who is an author of the classical works. She is a mirror, figure to take as an example of nobleness for the nation, particularly the younger female generations.

Abstract

The paradigm of the arts education in the future must be able to apply various approaches where learners can cultivate their views and tolerant attitude towards the cultural diversity in Indonesia. The arts education is expected to be a compulsory course in universities so that the students have sensitive, aesthetic, creative and innovative attitude as well as adaptive character to any change and good ethics in expressing their creativities. It is not just an education generated only for the sake of art competition but must become a daily necessity. In facing the globalization phenomenon, the arts education is made to utilize multicultural approach which can be accepted by various circles of society. The arts educa- tion with a multicultural approach should have flexibility and rely on the ability of the learners and the socio-cultural conditions of the local society. The role of the arts educators is expected to not only pos- sess the local artistic knowledge, but also the knowledge about other regional arts so that in this way the students obtain complete knowledge of arts and culture as well as fostering the sense of tolerance with the diversity.
