Abstract

Kediri is one of the cities / regencies in East Java province that still produces textile production, namely batik. The problems discussed in this study are (1) what is the background of the creation of Garudamukha Batik in Kediri batik? (2) how to design Garudamukha Batik on Kediri batik using a design approach? This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with the design approach and design theory from Nanang Rizali. Data obtained using passive role observation, in-depth interviews, and literature study. Focusing on the background of the formation of Garudamukha Batik and the symbolic meaning it contains. The research sites are in Kediri Regency and Kediri City, Badas District, Gurah District, Pagu District, Semen District, and Mojo District. The results showed that: 1) In the history of Batik Garudamukha was formed on the initiative of the City Government of Kediri. Garudamukha is one of the history in Kediri, the mount of Lord Vishnu. King Airlangga is trusted by his people as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu who has the territory in the City of Kediri namely DAHA or Dahapura (City of Fire). 2) The function aspect acts as the identity of the City of Kediri. Aesthetic aspects in the form of decoration, color, composition. The material aspect uses primissima cotton cloth, wax and remasol dyes. The aspect of the process uses written, stamped, printing or mixed techniques.

Abstract

Art therapy is one type of the therapy which done through a creative process on the creation of a work of art as an effort to relieve the inner conflicts or repressed emotions in someone who suffers from health problem such as mental illness. The aim of this study project under the title “Painting as Self-Therapy for Mental Illness” is to create an abstract paintings based on inner experience as self-therapy for mental illness. In addition, the act of counseling routinely with a psychiatrist and drug therapy is being undertaken by the author. In this study project, the author creates a painting in an abstract-expressionistic style that is direct and spontaneous, with or without special considerations regarding the application of the visual concept of painting in his work, providing the author's subjectivity in his work can be fulfilled absolutely. The abstract painting itself really emphasizes the expression of emotions through free strokes, line and colors which that is appropriate or suitable for art therapy medium; by using ink and acrylic paint on various types of paper such as; linen paper, recycled paper, and watercolor paper. The author also uses the direct method on painting the creative works or the paintings done by the act of spontaneously, quickly, and full of intuition with either wet or dry techniques. From the process of making this study project, the author was able to produce hundreds of works which later those selected, sorted, and arranged into a panel or an independent painting which concluded into total of 14 works with spontaneous, firm, textural, and magical line expressions. Through art therapy by working on abstract-expressionism style of painting, the author feels the psychological impact which leads into an atmosphere of happy inner-self, a relief, becomes more passionate, and a calmness which drives to organize life more optimistically, and also it is able to relieve the worries and pain that the author feels.

Abstract

This final project expresses the writer's imagination in the form of graphic art, which is inspired by the dangers of junk food today in Indonesia. The problem is discussed by approach; 1. What is meant by junk food ?, 2. Why was junk food chosen as the theme of graphic art creation ?, 3. What is the form of visualizing junk food in graphic works using linoleum cuttings techniques? In its implementation, the phenomenon of the current danger of junk food in Indonesia is creatively reprocessed according to the taste of the author, works are printed using air-based color ink on cardboard paper, 10 printed works are each printed in 3 editions inspired by the situation. now. Each work is framed by using adjustable size frames. It is hoped that this work can be used as inspiration and provide knowledge about the current dangers of junk food in Indonesia. It is hoped that this work can be enjoyed by all who see it as well as art observers and art lovers.

Abstract

The experience of the journey process of finding a character in fashion is done with a sense of comfort, courage, happiness. The creation of this work aims to create works of art with sources of inspiration: The journey process of finding characters in fashion and Fashion Storytelling, explaining the concept, creation process, and description of graphic art works. The process of creating this work of art uses the L.H. Chapman, that in the creation of works there are three stages, namely Finding ideas, perfecting and Visualization The process of traveling in fashion is expressed in the work of Graphic Art by processing elements and principles of visual composition, through the study of the process and concept of the creation of the work, using high print or cut techniques in linoleum on paper with 2 techniques, namely puzzle technique and reduction technique.

Abstract

The sculpture is a work that is created through many gradual processes starting from the process of making the main master, then making molds, to the final casting and completion stages. Beyond that there are also sculptures made with chiseling or assembling techniques. Art works stems from human interest in the symptoms that occur in the community or the environment, and based on experiences that leave memory that supports the process of art, processing anxiety and curiosity are processed into a form of visualization of art, This work of sculpture takes the theme of obesity as a visual form, the form of obesity is related to people's views of their bodies, and also responses to attitudes carried out by obese people who are also used as ideas to visualize sculpture in the hope of providing another perspective on people with obesity in society.

Abstract

The most popular voyage of the Barata Kahedupa community in the 1960s was the culture of Bhangka’s boat or sailing ship. The Bhangka was used as a warship for the Barata Kahedupa fleet and also used by the local community as a boat for trade. This film will lead the audience to understand the existing problems related to the bhangka;s boat culture which is currently approaching extinction. “Sabangka Sarope” film is packed with expository of documentary film style and a three-act structural narrative approach. Directing the expository documentary “Sabangka Sarope” by applying a three-act structure can help the audience to more easily understand the existing problems, especially in relation to the bhangka’s boat culture.

Abstract

The creation of the Final Project entitled "The Problem of Fishermen as a Source of Ideas in the Creation of Paintings" is motivated by personal experience in the environment around the house related to the problems faced by fishermen in Brebes Regency. The author describes the expression of concern and hope for fishermen about the importance of welfare for fishermen and understands the problems that have an impact on the fishermen's environment. The process of making this Final Project uses the Herman Von Helmholtz method, including the saturation stage, namely the collection of facts, data and sensations, then the incubation stage, namely the deposition stage and the last stage (illumination). The concept of the creation of works contains the Aesthetic Relationship of Art with Reality that the occurrence of works of art cannot be separated from the reality that arises how the role of nature provides everything according to human needs in terms of practical life according to N. G. Chernyshevky. The creation of this painting presents representations of various things related to elements related to fishermen and the social activities of fishing communities, using the metaphor of sea fish, shrimp, crabs, squid, jellyfish, sea water, waves, sky, boat, tree roots. mangroves, baskets and others. Making the final project using ballpoint media and acrylic paint on canvas with sweeping techniques, shading techniques, blocking techniques and splashing techniques. The process of visualizing the work goes through several stages, starting from the stage of making the background on the canvas, making sketches of the main object and supporting objects, coloring objects with blocking and dusel, detailing objects using a small brush, contouring using ballpoints and the final stage of coating varnish on the canvas. Paint. This Final Project presents eight works of art that outline the problems faced by fishermen.

Abstract

Film tidak lepas dengan pencahayaan, kamera sebagai senjata utama ketika suting membutuhkan penataan cahaya yang baik untuk menghasilkan gambar yang baik pula. Penataan cahaya pada beberapa adegan film sering diciptakan hanya sebagai sumber penerangan yang sekedar terang. Namun pada film Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak tata cahaya selain digunakan sebagai sumber penerangan, di film ini tata cahaya dapat menjadi pembangun unsur dramatik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, studi pustaka dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa unsur dramatik pada film dapat terbangun oleh tata cahaya. Unsur dramatik banyak terbangun oleh cahaya api yang berperan utama sebagai artistik.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced filmmakers to set special production strategies so that their production can run safely. For this reason, the first thing that can be done is to design the right story for the COVID-19 pandemic situation at the development stage. This study tries to explore the storytelling strategies taken by screenwriters in telling their stories in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The films selected for this analysis were films from Moving Image Production (MIP) students at the UMN Film Study Program which were produced with awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic and managed to participate in both national and international curated exhibition and gain some acknowledgment. The method of this research is qualitative and was done by conducting content analysis on existing narrative documents (synopsis, characterization, and scenarios) as well as literature review on related topics, themes and theories related to storytelling, specifically focusing on the analysis of characters and story settings.

Abstract

This final project takes sunflowers as a source of ideas to be developed into designs and then realized in the form of children's clothing using tapestry, knitting, and pattern magic techniques, in order to explore techniques in developing sunflower motifs in 3D clothing. For the purpose of using the source of the idea of sunflowers because sunflowers themselves are a depiction of optimism and joy that are suitable for the concept of children's clothing. The method used in the process of creating this fashion work is through design exploration (concepts, determination of the chosen concept then design development from the concept, determination of the selected design, experimental techniques used, determination of the right technique from experiments), execution of works (pattern making, pattern cutting, etc.) making tapestry, laying patterns on fabrics, cutting fabrics, sewing processes, and finishing. The final product is three stage children's clothing with artsy style that uses a combination of tapestry and knitting techniques and the use of ATBM lurik fabrics as traditional fabrics. The choice of lurik cloth in this work is due to the appreciation and respect for traditional Indonesian fabrics and their motif were many variations.
