Abstract

This paper will review the co relation between poverty who becomes the object, the media that is doing commodification, and consumption as the goal of the commodification of the object by the media. Television program Bedah Rumah is very helpful in realizing the government’s program a simple home for the poor. Abstract

Television as a cultural phenomenon and agent frame the world through language codes. Commercial advertising plays a major role in the survival of television stations and industrial commodities. Television advertising is positioned as a text. Research in cultural studies frame this media expose about how audiences read the television advertisement. The theory of representation, identity and positioning Stuart Hall audiences are used to assess the reading audience. This study aims to (a) identify about how advertising constructs male identity, (b) identify and analyze the reading of ads by the three female audience, and (c) How is the public position on these readings. The results of this study to inform a few things, (1) ad shows his role in constructing and reconstructing the male identity, (2) the public has a variety of different opinions in reading a text the same, and (3) public autonomous positioning itself as a Dominant Hegemonic, Negotiated or Oppositional Reader.Keywords: reading, representation, male identity, advertising, public female

Abstract

The objectives of this study are, first, to understand the pattern of guidance, second, to understand the choice of programme, and third, to understand duration of watching television to outstanding students at Surakarta. The data analysis shows as follows : the students watching television in a various ways; firstly, 56 % usually being together with their parents, no matter father or mother or both, 25 % being together with other family or relatives usually with siblings , and 19 % usually watching television by himself or herself. This kind of variations appear as the affect of pattern of guidance that is parents’ responsibility to be together while watching televsion. Secondly, from the choice programme, students have various of watching television, namely : 59% state that they have only several favorite television programmes. Next, 41% state that they have lots of favorite television programmes. Therefore, there is no statement showing no favorite television programmes. This kind of variation is also shown that 51% choose kids program as their favorite television programe. In queing: there are 13% to music, 12% to news programme, 11% film, 7% to sports, 6 % to comedy. Thirdly, from duration of watching, it is also shown that students watching in various condition namely: 59% like to watch television in unscheduled time, 25% like to watch everyday and 16% like to watch in sparetime (holiday). This kind of results also show that they take 3 until 4 hours daily to watch television during their sparetime (holiday), then 0 until 2 hours daily during their non sparetime (studying time).Key words: pattern of guidance, chocie of programe, duration of watching television, outstanding students.

Abstract

An analysis of narrative structure is as a media to understand to story and in the same time to deliver the mesassge and the meaning of the moral, cultural and religious values by the frame of education. In this case of Avatar The legend of Aang : The Last Airbender, narrative structure can provide the natural elements in every characters. The Natural element in which consist of water, ground, fire, air, is the mainly composition of making the characters. Television is one of the most widely broadcast media undergo a process of evolution. Today the presence of broadcast media is certainly not out of a myriad of appreciation from many in the community. Man himself was unable to deny that a television media will always be present in front of him. Various impressions broadcast program comes through this medium, different interpretation will emerge from the community as audience. Now, television has become an important need among the millions of people in the world community. Abstract

This study is to explore the strategy of awakening of The Unyil ‘Indonesian puppet film at television’. “The Unyil” is one of the popular children’s show on 1980's era until the early 1990's. Meanwhile “Laptop Si Unyil” premiered in Trans7 broadcast on March 19, 2007. The main characters used in this program is a puppet show “The Unyil”. This study focuses on the finding of new concept of ‘The Unyil’ in order to be able to re-life. Some perspectives would be analyzed such as program theme, style of storytelling, the use of narrator, and narrative structure.Keywords: program theme, narrative structure, style of storytelling, the use of anarrator.

Abstract

This study is to explore how the voiceover or dubbing can fulfill all the criteria of a good job in the perspective of Target Language user. To produce voiceover or dubbing in kid film program is really a multi-dimensional job.. The first dimension is the linguistic aspects which rules two languages both source language (SL) and target language (TL). Sometimes we find a very long phrase or clause in SL and we finally get the voiceover or dubbing as a quite short phrase or clause and the vice versa. The second dimension is the scope of the social culture that also covers both sides. Sometimes, we find a very difficult terminology in SL to find the acceptability in TL. It is because the specific use relating to every social and cultural background. English has many words that is hardly fond in Indonesia Language. The next dimension is naturality. How a composition in SL should be voiceover or dubbing in the same naturality in the sense of TL. All of those conditions should be answered to the bet solution by the director of voice over or dubbing. Therefore the results must consider the naturalness language dubbing for children. Vocabulary is selected in such a way that the story can get into the domestic children. The subject of this study is Kid Film Program ‘Pocoyo’ episode A Little Drummer and the Indonesian voice over or dubbing version.Keywords: dubbing, the source language, target language
