Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of a palm oil mill using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Pasir Mandoge. This research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing numerical data and statistics to answer the research questions. The data consists of primary data collected through interviews and secondary data from financial reports at PTPN IV. The data were analyzed using the Balanced Scorecard concept, which divides performance measurements into financial and non-financial perspectives. The results of the study indicate that the financial perspective yields good performance results, which need to be maintained by increasing income through marketing efforts. This can be achieved by enhancing product innovation, improving efficiency on each production machine, and developing facilities and services to boost income, maximizing existing resources for optimal returns. From the customer's perspective, performance results are poor due to inadequate attention to customer complaints and feedback, as the company focuses more on growing its market share, rather than reducing complaints through customer retention and acquisition strategies. Recommendations for the customer perspective include minimizing defective products to ensure quality, maintaining strong customer relationships, and offering appealing incentives. From an internal business process perspective, improvements in company performance are evident, as demonstrated by faster processing times, which in turn lead to higher customer satisfaction. The operational perspective shows satisfactory results, as seen in monthly outputs compared to company averages. The learning and growth perspective indicates even better outcomes. An increase in the number of employees participating in training and development has a positive impact on employee performance, satisfaction, and productivity, ultimately benefiting the company in the long run.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of socio-economic factors on public interest in cash waqf participation in Indonesia. Using primary data from a national survey of 500 respondents, multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between socio-economic variables and interest in cash waqf. The dependent variable is public interest in cash waqf, measured on a Likert scale (1-5), while the independent variables include income, education level, age, knowledge of cash waqf, trust in waqf institutions, and location (urban vs. rural). The results show that income (β = 0.250, p < 0.01), knowledge of cash waqf (β = 0.380, p < 0.01), and trust in waqf institutions (β = 0.180, p < 0.05) have a significant positive effect on interest in cash waqf. In contrast, age has a significant negative effect (β = -0.120, p < 0.05), indicating that younger individuals are more interested in cash waqf. Location also plays a significant role, with urban residents showing higher interest than rural residents (β = 0.150, p < 0.05). However, education level does not significantly influence interest in cash waqf (p = 0.230). The regression model explains 58% of the variation in interest in cash waqf (R² = 0.580). These findings suggest that increasing public knowledge, building trust in waqf institutions, and targeting younger and urban populations can enhance participation in cash waqf. This study provides practical recommendations for policymakers and waqf institutions to promote cash waqf as a tool for sustainable social finance.

Abstract

Product quality is crucial in retaining customers, so it is often interpreted as anything that satisfies consumers or meets their requirements and needs. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of product quality, promotion, and price on consumer purchasing decisions at the Dian Shop in Tanjung Redeb. The number of population visits in this study is estimated from the average number of customer visits per day, which is 90 people, resulting in approximately 2,700 customers per month. The respondent sampling technique was employed using the accidental sampling method, which is based on chance. The number of samples was determined using the Slovin formula, based on the assumption of an average of 90 customer visits per day. The study sample consisted of 96 consumers who shopped at the Dian Shop. This research method uses multiple linear regression analysis, and the data analysis tool used is SPSS 26. The findings indicate that product quality, promotion, and price have a significant influence on consumer purchasing decisions, both simultaneously and partially. Thus, the research hypothesis is accepted. These findings underscore the importance of these three elements in shaping consumer purchasing behavior within a retail environment.

Abstract

This study investigates the synergistic effects of operational centralization, risk management enhancement, and the Transaction Banking (TB) organization model in improving banking operational efficiency through lean operation principles at the SENTINEL Bank Jakarta Branch. Root cause analyses, including 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Pareto methods, identified key inefficiencies such as decentralization, unclear roles, lack of risk awareness, and fragmented governance. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis of employee surveys (n = 200) with workload benchmarking of transactional and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) data. The findings reveal that operational centralization significantly enhances operational efficiency (STDEV = 0.066, T = 7.056, p = 0.000) by reducing non-value-added activities, standardizing workflows, and enabling over 70% cost savings. Lean operation principles also demonstrated a significant positive impact (STDEV = 0.249, T = 3.539, p = 0.000), with centralization and TB reorganization further strengthening lean practices. However, risk management enhancements, while positive, had no significant direct effect on operational efficiency (STDEV = 0.069, T = 0.827, p = 0.408), suggesting a more supportive rather than primary role. Similarly, the TB organizational structure’s direct impact on efficiency was statistically insignificant (STDEV = 0.240, T = 1.834, p = 0.067), indicating that structural changes must be accompanied by process optimization to realize full efficiency gains. This study contributes to the discourse on corporate banking efficiency by quantifying the interdependencies among structural reforms, lean operations, and risk management practices in addressing operational inefficiencies.

Abstract

Indonesia’s aviation industry has experienced rapid post-pandemic growth, with a 38.5% increase in passenger traffic in 2024 compared to 2022, positioning it as the largest and fastest-growing market in ASEAN. This expansion has intensified demand for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services. PT XYZ, Indonesia’s leading aircraft maintenance provider, faces procurement issues in acquiring painting materials, causing delays and missed turnaround targets. This study aims to optimize supplier selection through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), employing a mixed-methods approach involving stakeholder interviews to determine key criteria. The model incorporates six main criteria and fourteen sub-criteria, prioritizing quality, regulatory compliance, reliability, cost, and delivery. The results identified Supplier II as the most suitable option. The study recommends institutionalizing the AHP model within PT XYZ’s procurement policy and integrating it into its ERP system, offering a scalable solution for enhancing procurement efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making in aviation MRO operations.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of workplace environment and work motivation on job performance among Generation Z employees within Indonesia’s food and beverage (F&B) sector, with a particular focus on the mediating role of employee commitment. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were collected through structured online surveys and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that both workplace environment and work motivation significantly enhance employee commitment and directly improve job performance. Furthermore, employee commitment was found to partially mediate the relationships between workplace environment, motivation, and job performance, indicating its crucial role in sustaining organizational outcomes despite Generation Z’s typically lower organizational loyalty. The research highlights the importance of fostering flexible, supportive, and inclusive work environments tailored to the unique preferences of Generation Z employees. Additionally, intrinsic motivators such as personal growth opportunities and recognition were identified as key drivers of commitment and performance. This study contributes to the literature by integrating Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, the Job Demands-Resources Model, and Social Exchange Theory to provide a comprehensive framework for managing Generation Z in high-turnover service industries. Practical recommendations are offered for human resource strategies, while suggestions for future research call for exploration across broader industrial and cultural settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of employee engagement, psychological capital, and work-life balance on turnover intention with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. In this study, a quantitative approach was used on 439 private employees in Greater Jakarta. This approach uses the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis technique. Research shows that employee engagement, psychological capital, and work-life balance have a significant positive effect on  employee job satisfaction. In addition, it is proven that job satisfaction has a significant negative effect on turnover intention. All three independent variables have a significant effect on turnover intention, either directly or indirectly through job satisfaction as a mediator. Employee engagement is reported to be the most significant factor in increasing job satisfaction and reducing the desire to leave work. These results support the theory of Job Demands-Resources and Social Exchange Theory, both of which emphasize the importance of psychological resources and social relationships in work. In addition, this study also found that there were differences in views between generations about the variables discussed. This research provides theoretical contributions and practical benefits to the development of sustainable employee retention strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of green logistics at PT Bandara Internasional Batam to evaluate its role in supporting the development of cargo logistics in the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) area. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, direct field observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the adoption of green logistics practices at PT Bandara Internasional Batam has not yet been fully optimized. Although initiatives such as a semi-automated Warehouse Management System (WMS) and document digitalization (paperless system) have been introduced, significant barriers remain, including high investment costs, limited infrastructure, and insufficient human resource capacity. The analysis highlights that outdated cargo facilities, low environmental awareness among workers and service users, and incomplete digital transformation contribute to the slow progress of green logistics implementation. Comparisons with practices in other international airports demonstrate the importance of modern technology adoption, stronger regulatory support, and cultural change in advancing sustainable logistics. This study contributes theoretically by expanding knowledge on the application of green logistics in the aviation sector within a developing country context. Practically, it provides actionable recommendations for PT Bandara Internasional Batam, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen competitiveness in the FTZ area.
