Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni is an international journal dedicated for the publication of scientific articles in language education, literature, and arts education. It was firstly published on March 2000 with ISSN 1411-3732 in 2007 by Faculty of Language Literature and Arts Universitas Negeri Padang. This journal had ever been changed into Jurnal Bahasa dan Seni during 2004-2013. In 2014 this journal is renamed as Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni applies open journal system (OJS) and peer-reviewed online journal in 2017 with Online ISSN 2548-9097.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berlatar belakang rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis berita secara logis dan sistematis dalam bentuk teks berita. Masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) bagaimanakah proses peningkatan keterampilan menulis berita pada siswa kelas VIII 1 SMP Negeri 1 Barus Kabupaten Tpanuli Tengah setelah mengikuti pembelajaran melalui pendekatan inkuiri?, (2) faktor apakah yang menyebabkan peningkatan keterampilan menulis  berita siswa kelas VIII1 SMP Negeri 1 Barus Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah?. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan proses peningkatan keterampilan menulis berita siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran melalui pendekatan inkuiri, (2) mendeskripsikan hasil peningkatan hasil keterampilan menulis berita siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran melalui pendekatan inkuiri. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII 1 SMP Negeri 1 Barus Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah, yang berjumlah 30 orang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus yaitu siklus I dan siklus II. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua teknik pengumpul data yaitu, teknik tes dan nontes. Teknik tes digunakan untuk mengetahui perhitungan dari masing-masing tes, kemudian dibandingkan antara siklus I dan siklus II, sedangkan teknik nontes yang digunakan adalah melalui observasi, tes unjuk kerja, wawancara, catatan lapangan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan inkuiri dalam pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam menulis berita dan meningkatkan aktifitas siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Peningkatan ini terlihat dari rata-rata prasiklus sebesar 54,5%, siklus I sebesar 76,3%, siklus II sebesar 80,73%. Faktor yang menyebabkan peningkatan keterampilan siswa menulis berita  adalah (1) Kerja sama kelompok, (2) kegiatan observasi karya orang lain, (3) adanya kesempatan siswa berlatih menulis berita, (4) pembahasan berita yang telah mereka tulis. Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to describe the value of character education of folklore in the Saparan tradition for the improvement of writing skills on learning in High School. This type of research is descriptive qualitative by deepening the history and education value through direct observation, interview, and document analysis. The validity of this study used triangulation of data and sources. Based on the results of analysis using Roland Barthes's semiotics theory validated by in-depth interviews, it is concluded that the values of character education in this Saparan tradition are the value of social care, the value of cultural education, and religious values. The substance of this research is to provide an understanding of the history and value of folklore in the Saparan tradition as a learning material for improving writing skills.Keywords: education value ,folklore,writing skill.  AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter cerita rakyat dalam tradisi Saparan untuk peningkatan keterampilan menulis pada pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Atas. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan mendalami sejarah dan nilai pendidikan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Validitas penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi data dan sumber. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes yang divalidasi dengan wawancara mendalam, disimpulkan bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam tradisi Saparan ini adalah nilai peduli sosial, nilai pendidikan budaya, dan nilai religius. Substansi dari penelitian ini adalah memberi pemahaman tentang sejarah dan nilai pada cerita rakyat dalam tradisi Saparan sebagai bahan pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis.Kata Kunci: nilai pendidikan, cerita rakyat, keterampilan menulis.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal the uniqueness of the cultural style of Minangkabaunese as one of the Minangkabau language diversities. The peculiarities are described in terms of its lexicons and sentence structures. This study was a descriptive qualitative research type. Object of research was the cultural style of Minangkabaunese, while the research data were the customary speech variety. In terms of lexicon, there are a lot of the typical vocabulary items that are rarely or not used in the general variety of Minangkabaunese. The cultural style of Minangkabaunese uses metaphors that are rarely used in the general variety. In terms of sentence structures, this style uses many compound and complex sentences with many subordinate clauses in one sentence. Abstract

The research objectives are to explore and describe students’ responses to English learning at SMP Maitreyawira Batam, and to make the relations of substantive theory based students’ responses. This research approach is naturalistic by using open questionnaires. The results show some students feel fun, joyful, enjoying, easier, and have self-encouragement in English learning. Some students feel unenthusiastic, bored, get unknowing purpose, and have the complexity in English learning. Researcher also finds nine substantive theories from four grand categorizations show students’ positive responses; namely (1) Understanding English learning causes students feel fun and joyful, (2) Too many English tasks given affect to students’ obstacles, (3) Being able to communicate with foreigners is a need for students, (4) Less practicing makes the complexity in English learning for students, (5) Presenting material (2013 curriculum) makes some students feel easier, (6) The repeating materials affect students feeling bored, (7) More practicing makes students enjoy English, (8) Unknowing the purpose of English learning cause students feel unenthusiastic and bored, and (9) Noisy classroom give students more difficulties in English learning.Keyword: student response, English learning, substantive theory RESPONS SISWA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI SMP MAITREYAWIRA BATAMAbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi dan mendeskripsikan respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMP Maitreyawira Batam, dan untuk membuat hubungan antara respon teori berbasis teori substantif. Pendekatan penelitian ini bersifat naturalistik dengan menggunakan kuesioner terbuka. Hasilnya menunjukkan beberapa siswa merasa senang, gembira, menikmati, lebih mudah, dan memiliki dorongan diri dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Beberapa siswa merasa tidak antusias, bosan, tidak sadar, dan memiliki kompleksitas dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Peneliti juga menemukan sembilan teori substantif dari empat kategorisasi utama yang  menunjukkan tanggapan positif siswa; yaitu (1) Memahami pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menyebabkan siswa merasa senang dan gembira, (2) Terlalu banyak tugas bahasa Inggris yang diberikan pada hambatan siswa, (3) Mampu berkomunikasi dengan orang asing adalah kebutuhan siswa, (4) Kurang berlatih membuat kompleksitas dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk siswa, (5) Penyajian materi (kurikulum 2013) membuat beberapa siswa merasa lebih mudah, (6) Materi yang berulang-ulang mengakibatkan siswa merasa bosan, (7) Lebih banyak praktik membuat siswa dapat menikmati bahasa Inggris, (8) Tanpa mengetahui tujuan dari pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menyebabkan siswa merasa tidak antusias dan bosan, dan (9) Kelas yang bising memberi siswa lebih banyak kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: respon siswa, pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, teori substantif

Abstract

Theater can be viewed as the strongest in denying post modernization. It also can be found in Indonesian postmodernism theater, especially through pastiche aesthetic idiom, parody, kitsch, camp, and schizophrenia which reveal and deconstruct the previous art theater modernization as well as the high culture modernization, or modernism itself. The purpose of this paper is to show how deconstructionist idiom occurs in the “Jalan Lurus” which can be viewed as one of Indonesian postmodern theaters. Abstract

Ethic, aesthetic, and logic should take place in any language.  If one of them does not exist in a sentence, it can lose its meaning. Every language in the world must contain the three of them in accordance with the development of the speakers. Using the existing ethical sense in a language of the user group, a speech may be followed by the norms of behavior, customs, and manners, and it should be prevalent in the language of the society. Aesthetics is inherent in the development of a language; it is supported by reason, thought, feeling, mind, and the beauty contained in the language which is set forth in the elections of words expressions. Furthermore, there must be logic in speaking because it is a part of the language. If the language does not contain the logic, the language of the act may be created and may not be used as a means of communication. Indeed, language is an event in which people use their thoughts, feelings, and logic, and it is more than just a means for communication. Keywords: ethic, aesthetic, logic, communication, language

Abstract

EFEK PEMBIASAAN MENULIS DAN MEMBACA SECARA KOLABORATIF TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS DIARI PADA KELAS DELAPAN MTsN KAMANG AbstractThis study was conducted to see the effect of collaborative writing strategy and the students’ reading habits on their ability in writing recount text. It was a 2x2 factorial semi-experimental research. The sources of the data were the students’ composition and questioners on student’s reading habits. It was found that (1) the students taught by using collaborative writing strategy performed better than those taught by using conventional writing strategies, 2) the students getting high score on their reading habits and taught by using collaborative writing strategy fared better than those taught by using conventional writing strategy, 3) the students getting low score on their reading habits and taught by using collaborative writing strategy did not perform better than those taught by using conventional writing strategy, and 4) there was no interaction between both collaborative writing strategy and conventional writing strategy and the student’s reading habits on the students’ writing ability.Keywords: Collaborative Writing, students’ Reading Habits,students’ writing, recount text. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat pengaruh strategi penulisan kolaboratif dan kebiasaan membaca siswa terhadap kemampuan menulis teks recount (diari). Penelitian ini merupakan semi eksperimental 2x2. Sumber data adalah komposisi dari siswa dan kuesioner tentang kebiasaan membaca siswa. Ditemukan bahwa (1) siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan strategi penulisan kolaboratif lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi penulisan konvensional, 2) siswa mendapatkan nilai tinggi pada kebiasaan membaca mereka dan diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi penulisan kolaboratif yang lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan menggunakan strategi penulisan konvensional, 3) siswa mendapatkan skor rendah pada kebiasaan membaca mereka dan diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi penulisan kolaboratif tidak berkinerja lebih baik daripada yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi penulisan konvensional, dan 4) tidak ada interaksi antara strategi penulisan kolaboratif dan konvensional dan kebiasaan membaca terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa.Kata Kunci: Collaborative Writing, students’ Reading Habits, students’ writing, recount text.

Abstract

This paper discusses the short story of Malin Kundang, rebellious mother, written by AA Navis by using Derrida’s deconstruction theory. Deconstruction is method of reading the text very carefully so that the conceptual distinction inventions by the authors of the foundations texts seem inconsistent and paradoxes in the use of the concept in the text as a whole. The presence of deconstruction has allowed a text to have multi meanings. Literary text is seen as very complex. In this short story, Navis does not imitate what it is from the legend, nor about the legend recounted his version, but argues on different sides of legend of Malin Kundang and delivers it in way that is very unique and interesting. Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of local communities in conservation efforts of Paseban manuscripts. This research uses dominant less-dominant design, which combines quantitative and qualitative approaches in one study. The data were obtained from field observations, interviews, and library studies. The results are the conservation efforts undertaken on manuscripts in surau Paseban were limited to activities to save the script and clean manuscripts from dust and dirt. There were no special conservation activities on these texts, and the activities tended to damage the manuscript. The recommendation is the community is more responsive to the presence and the values of the manuscripts so that the joint conservation activities can be done optimally. In addition, special attention from the government for handling the manuscripts is needed. Key words: conservative manuscripts, surau Paseban, conservation efforts

Abstract

Demonstrative pronouns in Minangkabau language consist of demonstrative pronouns and adverbs of place. Demonstrative pronouns consist of demonstrative pronoun that refers to reference that is near to the speaker or writer and demonstrative pronoun that refers to a reference that is far from the speaker. Adverbs of place also consist of adverbs of place indicating the place close to the speaker and adverbs of place indicating the place far from the speaker.
