The sample used was 40 people. Data analysis in this study was univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test with a=0.05. Based on the results of the Chi-square statistical test, this research found that there was a relationship between the readiness of young women to face menarche, namely the knowledge factor with a p-value = 0.001, the attitude factor with a p-value = 0.000, and the family support factor with a p-value -value= 0.003 so all Ho are rejected (p<0.05). Baitul Aziz High School, Percut Sei Tuan subdistrict, Deli Serdang district, to foster more motivation, enthusiasm and increase knowledge when facing menstruation for the first time (menarche).

Labor pain in the first stage of the active phase felt by primiparous mothers at dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital is like a strong and very scary stab, and in facing labor pain, primiparous mothers do not know how to deal with the pain they feel, so some primiparous mothers are agitated, screaming, hitting their husbands, asking for a Caesarean section without medical indication. This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of the Slow Deep Breathing technique and lavender aromatherapy on the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase in primiparous mothers giving birth. The Study used pre-experimental methods and a group Pre-Test-Post-Test Design with a population of primiparous mothers giving birth at Dr Abdul Rivai Hospital, Berau Regency, with an average of 43 people per month, based on the Lameshow formula with a sample of 35 people. The research instrument uses the NRS scale. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The score for labor pain in the first stage of the active phase before the combination of the Slow Deep Breathing technique and lavender aromatherapy carried was 8, and after the combination of the Slow Deep Breathing technique and lavender aromatherapy was 7. There is an effect of the combination of the Slow Deep Breathing technique and lavender aromatherapy on the intensity of labor pain in the active phase of the first stage in primiparous women giving birth (p-value = 0.000 < ?: 0.05). This indicates that the combination of the Slow Deep Breathing technique and lavender aromatherapy influences reduces the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase in primiparous women giving birth

Abstract

Post-caesarean section surgery causes pain, which has an impact on recovery. A preliminary study of post-caesarean section surgery patients in the Crysant Room was given pharmacological treatment. Appropriate intervention is needed to minimize the effects of pharmacological use, one of which is finger-hold relaxation technique as a breathing technique that has a relaxing effect. This study aimed to determine the effect of finger-hold relaxation techniques on pain intensity. This was quasi-experimental research with a group pre-test and post-test design without a control group. The population was post-section caesarea patients in the Crysant Room at dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau, with a monthly average from July to September 2023, totaling 76 people. Thirty-four respondents obtained the Lameshow formula sample. The instrument used VAS observation sheet. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The pain intensity score before the finger grip relaxation technique was a median value of 8, and after the finger grip relaxation technique, the median value was 6. The finger grip relaxation technique influenced pain intensity (p-value = 0.000). This indicates that the finger-hold relaxation technique is an alternative for reducing pain non-pharmacologically in post-cesarean section surgical patients. Midwives can teach finger-hold relaxation techniques post-cesarean section patients and the benefits

Abstract

Smoking is a bad habits that can have a bad impact on your own health and that of others. Cigarettes are wrapped tobacco products that come from plants such as Nicotiana tabacum and Nicotiana rustica, or they can also be synthetic products containing nicotine and tar, with or without the addition of other ingredients. This research aims to determine the effect of health education on public knowledge about the dangers of smoking in the Paal Merah I Community Health Center Working Area, Jambi City in 2024. This research uses the Wilcoxon test which shows that there is a significant difference between before and after the education was implemented. These findings confirm that health education is effective in increasing public knowledge about the dangers of smoking. Using a semi-experimental method, this research involved a pretest and posttest on 19 respondents selected from three areas that had the highest smoking rates, namely RT.11, RT. 25, and RT.35 Paal Merah Village. The results of the normality test showed that the data was not normally distributed, which means there was a correlation between before the counseling was carried out and after the counseling was carried out. Thus, health education efforts have the potential to change smoking behavior and contribute to efforts to prevent tobacco-related diseases. It is hoped that the intervention steps taken will help reduce the prevalence of smoking at the household level and improve overall public health in the area.

Abstract

Efforts to treat Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies to increase body weight while in hospital is by providing direct breast milk; however, there is a weakness in suction power in LBW babies. Oral stimulation is necessary to increase the suction reflex to overcome this. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of oral stimulation on the sucking reflex in LBW babies. This was a pre-experimental study and One Group Pre-Test – Post-Test design without a control group. The population was LBW babies in the Perinatology Room at dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital has 30 babies, based on the Roscoe formula, and has a sample of 20 people. Data analysis used the Friedman test. Characteristics of respondents: mostly gestational age 28-36 weeks (60%), female gender (60%), baby weight between 1,500-2,499 grams (55%), mother's age > 35 years (50%), mother's education graduated from high school (47.1%), parity of multiparous mothers (60%) and mother's occupation as housewife (60%). The sucking reflex in LBW babies before being given oral stimulation was completely lacking by 20 respondents (100%). The sucking reflex in LBW babies after being given oral stimulation was perfect for 20 respondents (100%). Oral stimulation was influential on the sucking reflex in LBW babies (p-value = 0.000 < ?: 0.05). This indicates that oral stimulation is effective on the sucking reflex in LBW babies. Hospitals are expected to make oral stimulation of Standard Operational Procedure for routine activities carried out by nurses and physiotherapists to improve the sucking reflex in LBW and LBW babies.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of a combination of warm compresses and effleurage massage on the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase in maternal patients. This was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The population was all primiparous normal mothers giving birth at dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau, from January to September 2023, numbered 385 people, with an average of 43 people per month, based on the Lameshow formula, which included a sample of 38 people. The instrument used the VAS scale and standard operating procedure (SOP) for a combination of warm compresses and effleurage massage. Data analysis used the paired sample test. The intensity of labor pain during the first active phase before being given a combination of warm compress and effleurage massage had an average value of 7.47. The intensity of labor pain during the first active phase after being given a combination of warm compress and effleurage massage had an average value of 6.26. It showed an effect of the combination of warm compresses and effleurage massage on the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase (p-value = 0.000 < ?: 0.05). This indicates that the combination of warm compresses and effleurage massage affects reducing the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase. It hopes that hospitals can adopt a policy of issuing the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the combination of warm compresses and effleurage massage
