Abstract

Dietary plants are believed to contain antioxidants that have positive effects on human health. Free radicals, other reactive oxygen and nitrogen spesies can be eliminated by antioxidants. The presence of flavonoids and phenol in paprika (Capsicum annuum var. grossum) fruit contributes to its antioxidant properties. The phytochemistry and antioxidant activity of paprika leaves—especially those cultivated in Indonesia—have not been extensively studied. The aim of this study to investigate psychochemical parameters, phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity of paprika leaves from Indonesia. Several physicochemical parameters and phytochemical screening test were done base on Indonesian Herbs Pharmacopoeia. Antioxidant activity test using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Dry powder of paprika leaves have some physicochemical parameters which part of its characteristic. Dry powder and extract of paprika leaves contains flavonoid, saponin, phenol and steroid/triterpenoid. The findings of the antioxidant test indicated that the standard vitamin C exhibited an IC50 value of 6.22 µg/ml. In contrast, the extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction demonstrated IC50 values of 6.41, 9.12, 8.96, and 10.58 µg/ml, respectively. There was potential for paprika leaves to be developed as a natural source of antioxidants.

Abstract

Sectio caesarea is often associated with post-operative pain due to an incision in the stomach. Handling pain after cesarean section, apart from analgesics, requires non-pharmacological methods, including the Benson relaxation technique, which combines deep breathing relaxation and a person's belief system with lavender aromatherapy, which can release endorphins, thereby relieving pain. In a preliminary study at Dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital, there were ten mothers reporting pain in the area of ??the post-caesarean incision in the abdomen who had never used relaxation techniques, including Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy on pain in post-cesarean section patients. This study used pre-experimental and Group Pre-Test – Post-Test Design. A sample of post sectio caesarea patients became 38 people at Dr Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau. The instrument used the NRS scale. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. This study showed before being given the combination of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy, the majority of post-cesarean section patients experienced severe pain, 76.3%, and after being given the combination of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy, the majority of post-cesarean section patients experienced mild pain, 86.8%. Combining Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy affected pain in post-cesarean section patients (p-value = 0.000). This indicates that the combination of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy is a non-pharmacological therapy that can reduce pain in post-cesarean section patients.

Abstract

Congenital hypothyroidism screening is a screening to select babies who suffer from congenital hypothyroidism from babies who are not sufferers by taking 2-3 drops of blood from the baby's heel. A preliminary study at PMB Midwife Endang in December 2023 found data on the number of normal births of 32 people who underwent congenital hypothyroidism screening with 11 people. It shows that mothers still have low interest in doing Congenital hypothyroidism screening because, on average, they do not know about Congenital hypothyroidism screening, so they are less motivated. Mothers have never been given health education about Congenital hypothyroidism screening. This study aimed to determine the influence of health education on the interest of the third semester of pregnant women in screening for congenital hypothyroidism in newborns. This study used Pre-experimental with one group pre and post-test design. The population was 36 in the third semester of pregnant women at PMB Endang Yuniyati Napitupulu in January, with a sample of 30 people taken using a total sampling technique. The instrument was a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. This study showed that before being given health education, most respondents were not interested in doing congenital hypothyroidism screening on their babies (73.3%), and after being given health education, most respondents were interested in doing Congenital hypothyroidism screening on their babies (76.7% ). There was an influence of health education on the interest of the third-semester of pregnant women in screening for congenital hypothyroidism in newborns (p-value = 0.000 < ?: 0.05).

Abstract

Structured physical exercise programs can have a significant influence on the psychological well-being of older people in nursing homes. Research shows that by designing an exercise program tailored to individual health conditions and needs, such as in consultation with a fitness professional or physiotherapist, older adults can reap multiple benefits, including improved mental health, enhanced emotional well-being and improved sleep. These programs can also help to increase the independence of older adults and reduce the risk of depression and other mental illnesses. However, the implementation of structured physical exercise programs in nursing homes can face challenges such as limited resources, individual health challenges, and lack of knowledge and awareness about the benefits of physical activity. Overcoming this requires a holistic approach that involves various parties, including nursing home staff, fitness experts, and the families of the elderly. With tailored program development and careful supervision, physical exercise programs can be an effective tool in improving the physical and psychological well-being of older adults in nursing homes.

Abstract

Microbiology laboratory equipment is susceptible to bacterial contamination and therefore has the potential to become a medium for the spread of disease and infection. The existence of a less than sterile microbiological analysis process in the STIKes Karsa Husada Garut Microbiology Laboratory causes bacterial contamination of laboratory equipment such as bacterial analysis that does not comply with standards or the use of less than sterile equipment. To control the spread of contaminants, a decontamination process is required using a chemical disinfectant, namely sodium hypochlorite. Measuring the effectiveness of a disinfectant by looking at or can be determined by the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of sodium hypochlorite disinfectant in inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in bacterial isolates from the STIKes Karsa Husada Garut Microbiology Laboratory equipment. The data analysis used was analyzed descriptively. The results of this research are the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of sodium hypochlorite disinfectant on bacterial isolates from the STIKes Karsa Husada Garut Microbiology Laboratory equipment at a concentration of 4%. So it can be concluded that sodium hypochlorite disinfectant with a concentration of 4% is effective in inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.
