Abstract

Work engagement was a key psychological construct linked to employee well-being and organizational productivity. Drawing from the Job Demands-Resourcess (JD-R) model, this study investigates the predictive roles of personal and job resources specifically resilience and social support on work engagement. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 157 employees of a manufacturing company in Indonesia. Standardized scales measured resilience, social support, and work engagement. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significant joint contribution of resilience and social support to work engagement (R = 0.603, p < .01). Partial correlations further showed that both resilience (r = .333, p < .01) and social support (r = .270, p < .01) individually had significant positive relationships with work engagement. This result indicated that 36.4% of the variance in work engagement had been explained by the combined contribution of resilience and social support. Specifically, resilience accounted for 20.72% of the variance, while social support accounted for 15.67% of the variance in work engagement. These findings support the JD-R model and underscore the importance of enhancing individual and environmental resourcess in the workplace. Practical implications include the development of resilience training programs and the strengthening of support systems to promote work engagement in organizational settings.

Abstract

This research examines the ongoing skills gap between higher education and the labor market in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia. The study aims to uncover the root causes of the mismatch between graduates’ competencies and industry needs while analyzing psychological and institutional factors that influence employability. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving universities, industries, and local government agencies. Findings indicate that the skills gap is primarily driven by three factors: misaligned curricula, limited academia–industry collaboration, and low career self-efficacy among graduates. Furthermore, the lack of exposure to practical and experiential learning environments reduces students’ confidence, adaptability, and work readiness. To address these challenges, the study recommends an integrated approach that combines experiential learning, curriculum co-creation, and strong cross-sectoral collaboration supported by local policies. Theoretically, it integrates the Skills Gap Theory, Human Capital Theory, and Link and Match Theory within an educational psychology perspective to explain how structural and psychosocial factors jointly influence human capital development. Ultimately, this study provides actionable insights for enhancing higher education’s role in regional workforce competitiveness and equipping graduates to succeed in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven labor market.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the subjective experiences of mothers in long-distance marriages (LDM) while raising a child with special needs, focusing on dimensions of subjective well-being (SWB) including life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect. Using qualitative methods with the Moustakas phenomenological approach, participants consisted of two primary subjects (mothers in long-distance marriages with a child with special needs) and four secondary subjects (close family members), selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, then analyzed through the stages of epoche , phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, and meaning synthesis. The results showed that mothers experienced significant emotional challenges such as loneliness, stress, physical and mental exhaustion, and anxiety in parenting. However, sources of positive affect were also found in the form of family support, small successes in child development, and communication with partners. Determinants of subjective well-being (SWB) include self-acceptance, social support, and life experiences. This study emphasizes the importance of adequate emotional and social support to maintain mothers' subjective well-being in the context of long-distance marriage with children with special needs.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to map and synthesize the extant scientific literature concerning the relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technostress. To this end, a hybrid approach will be employed, integrating bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review (SLR). As the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) accelerates on a global scale, novel psychological stressors have emerged, extending beyond the conventional frameworks of information and communication technology (ICT). A comprehensive analysis of 34 empirical studies published between 2020 and 2025 was conducted to identify publication trends, conceptual developments, and the key mechanisms underlying AI-induced technostress. Bibliometric mapping reveals a significant surge in research output since 2023, with dominant contributions from China, India, Germany, and Spain. A thematic synthesis of the extant literature reveals that AI-induced technostress primarily emerges from three sources: cognitive overload, algorithmic complexity, and perceived loss of control. These mechanisms correspond to but also expand upon classical technostress creators. The findings further indicate that psychological outcomes such as burnout, anxiety, and reduced wellbeing frequently accompany AI integration. However, coping strategies, digital literacy, and organizational support serve as mitigating factors. The study's findings culminate in the proposal of an integrated conceptual model that incorporates the Technostress Model, Job Demands Resources (JD R) framework, technology acceptance theories, and Task Technology Fit (TTF). This model aims to enhance the explanatory power of the dual role of AI as both a demand-enhancing and resource-enhancing technological agent. Furthermore, it advocates for the utilization of longitudinal and cross-cultural research methodologies in future studies.

Abstract

Work engagement is widely recognized as a critical driver of organizational effectiveness; however, its underlying psychological and organizational determinants remain a subject of ongoing debate. Self-efficacy and organizational culture are frequently identified as key antecedents of work engagement, yet empirical findings regarding their independent effects have been inconsistent. This study aims to examine both the joint and individual contributions of self-efficacy and organizational culture to work engagement. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected from 50 employees of a hospitality organization in Yogyakarta using validated self-report scales. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that self-efficacy and organizational culture jointly predicted work engagement (R = 0.561, p < 0.01). However, partial correlation analyses indicated that neither self-efficacy (r = 0.121, p > 0.05) nor organizational culture (r = 0.256, p > 0.05) demonstrated a statistically significant independent relationship with work engagement. These findings suggest that work engagement may emerge from the synergistic interplay between individual beliefs and organizational context rather than from isolated direct effects. Practically, the results imply that organizational interventions aimed at enhancing employee engagement should concurrently address both personal efficacy and cultural dimensions. Future research is encouraged to explore potential mediating or moderating mechanisms that may further elucidate the complex relationships among these variables.

The reliability of 0.72 which was obtained through test, re-test method of estimating reliability index of the instrument. Two null hypotheses were formulated and tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Formula for hypotheses. Results showed that there was significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Marital Success; Self-Esteem and Marital Success. However, Emotional Intelligence was found to be a better predictor of marital success among the independent variables. The study therefore, concludes that there was significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and marital success; self-esteem and marital success.
