Abstract

The rectangular sharp-crested weir often finds in irrigation open channels. The function of the rectangular sharp-crested weir measures and divides the water flow to be distributed to agricultural lands. The Rehbock equation, the Kinsvater-Carter equation, and the General equation are used to approach the discharge. On a laboratory scale, the measurement of the discharge using a small rectangular sharp-crested weir was used for experiments and simulations. Because of using The Rehbock equation, The Kinsvater-Carter equation, and The General equation for a field discharge measurements, it is necessary to research to find out the accuracy of the Rehbock Equation, the Kinsvater-Carter equation and the General equation in the laboratory scale. The research data included the dimensions of rectangular weirs, the height of the water on the rectangular sharp-crested weir, the width of the channel on the hydraulic bench and the actual discharge. Data collection of the height of water on the rectangular sharp-crested weir and the actual discharge was carried out 5 times the measurements with different discharges. These data were analyzed using the Rehbock equation, the Kinsvater-Carter equation, and the General equation. The discharge of the analysis results was compared with the actual discharge to find out the value of the calibration coefficient. The experimental results show that the Kinsvater-Carter equation and General equation can be applied for discharge measurements on the laboratory scale. The calibration coefficient for the Kinsvater-charter equation was 0.89 and the calibration coefficient for the general equation was 0.94.

Abstract

In the era of development of science and technology until 2019 it has become increasingly sophisticated and makes life easier for humans. This progress has led to increasingly sophisticated technology with the intention of making life easier, practical, efficient and not experiencing much difficulty. But the development of these technologies, have positive and negative impacts. Positive impacts such as convenience, while negative impacts such as air pollution. Contamination of pollutants into the air resulting from factory activities, power plants and motor vehicles spread to the environment. This substance is very damaging to the environment which causes the air we breathe to be polluted and very influential on health. This study aims to describe the process of spreading pollutant concentrations in the air originating from factory chimney fumes. Pollutants that spread in the air can be modeled with the dispersion gauss model which is processed using the MATLAB programming language. The expected results from modeling are the distance of the highest pollutant concentration area and the range of pollutant coverage that spread, so that later will be done variations of the effective height of the chimney emission (H) to get results that vary according to the height of the chimney.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the learning model of conceptual understanding procedures (CUPs) with problem solving techniques on mastering the concept of physics of students for optical instrument material in  SMAN 7 Mataram  in the academic year 2018/2019. This type of research used quasi-experimental design with untreated control group design with pre-test and post-test. The population is all students of  XI MIPA class  with taking the research sample using purposive sampling technique, so that students of  XI MIPA 3 class were selected as the experimental class and  XI MIPA 2 class as the control class. Data collection techniques used the initial test (pre-test) and final test (post-test) with multiple choice questions as many as 20 items. To test the research hypothesis used parametric statistical tests, namely the t-test with pre-test and post-test. From the calculation results obtained by the value of t-count of 4.42 which value is greater than t-table which is 2.008 at a significant level of 5%, so it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, there is the influence of the learning model of conceptual understanding procedures (CUPs) with problem solving techniques on mastering of physics concepts of students of XI MIPA class at SMAN 7 Mataram in the academic year 2018/2019.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research which aims to improve learning outcomes physics class in Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ihsan Kalijaring. The sample used in this research is class XI MIPA totaling 31 people, by applying science technology society learning model.  This study is successful if students achieve learning outcomes classical completeness 85% with the value of each student reach ≥ 75. Based on the evaluation of the obtained value of the average grade in the first cycle of 77.01 with 74.42% classical completeness. In the second cycle learning outcomes of students has increased, with an average grade of 93.02 and classical completeness amounted to 90.46%. Based on the interest questionnaire that has been distributed to students before and after the action, data is obtained that the student's interest has increased. The indicators that showed an increase were the total score obtained before the administration of action was 1842 with an average of 42.84 increasing to 2326 with an average of 54.86. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that by applying the Jigsaw cooperative learning model can increase interest and learning outcomes in physics class XI MIPA Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ihsan Kalijaring Tembelang Jombang.

Abstract

The purpose of making this article is to find out the deepening of the material about electrical circuits, the workings of electrical circuits, as between modules with the purpose of the practicum that has been done. This type of research is used by using literature studies and direct practices carried out in the Science Education laboratory room. The subjects used by them are students majoring in semester 2 Science Education University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The results of the research are the number of students who do not understand about the electricity practices that discuss modules because of the large number of vocabulary that is not understood by students. For this reason, it is necessary to increase the practicum in the future, especially in the module, using language that is easily understood by students and students, and also with a guide who understands what he teaches practicum compilation.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of using Predict Observe Explain (POE) method toward students’ achievement in Physics. This is an experimental research by using experimental group and control group. The research design was Post-test Only Control Group Design. The population of this research was the students of class VII SMPN 1 Lembar academic year 2015/2016. The sampling technique was Cluster Random Sampling in which class VII 2 as the control group and class VII 3 as the experimental group. Both of the groups were given a pre-test before the treatment to know the homogeneity of the groups. The instrument used is an objective test in form of multiple choices. The finding showed that the mean of the posttest in experimental group was 70 and the control group was 60.67, in which both of them were distributed normal and homogeneous. The post-test result was analyzed by using t-test (t-test polled variants) in which the value of the was 2.473 and the  was 2.015 with dk=46 and the significant level was 5%. It showed that the was accepted and was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that Predict Observe Explain (POE) Method gave significant effect to the students’ achievement in Physics at Class VII SMPN 1 Lembar Academic year 2015/2016.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the concept attainment model with the demonstration method on the mastery of student physical concepts. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI MIPA in one of the state high schools in West Lombok. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique, so that the sample used in the study was class XI MIPA 3 as an experimental class and class XI MIPA 6 as a control class. The instrument used in this study was in the form of multiple choice questions totaling 21 items. The pre-test results show that the average value of the experimental class is 37,3 and the control class is 35,9. Data analysis techniques using t-test with pre-test and post-test, so that the results of the hypothesis test conducted at the final test obtained t-count of 2,250 and t-table of 2,012. Because t-count is greater than t-table, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected, it means that the concept attainment model with the demonstration method affects the mastery of the physics concepts of high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the cognitive conflict approach to a decrease in students’ misconceptions on business material and energy. This research is a quasi-experimental study with an “untreatsearch is a quasi-exed control group design withperimental study with pretest and posttest” design. The population in this study were all class X participants of SMAN 1 Gerung with Purposive Sampling sampling techniques.  The experimental class (X MIPA 4) was given special treatment in the form of a cognitive conflict approach, while the control class (X MIPA 5) was not given special treatment and continued to study as before. Data on decreasing misconception were measured during learning and based on tests, both data were obtained based on the initial test and final test data. Data, when learning decreases misconception, is obtained based on the percentage decrease in misconceptions that occur. Data to test hypotheses with several variabeles in this study using the IBM SPSS 23 program with a significant 5%. The results of the analysis were obtained  so that  is rejected and  is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of cognitive conflict approach to a decrease in students’ misconceptions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models assisted by pocket book physics on problem-solving abilities. The type of research used was quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIPA Senior High School in Mataram. The research sample was taken using cluster random sampling technique, so that the selected students of class X MIPA five were 31 people as the experimental class and the X class MIPA six as many as 27 people as the control class. The experimental class was treated in the form of a problem-based learning model assisted by pocket book physics mobile and the control class was treated in the form of conventional learning. The instrument used to measure problem solving ability is a test instrument in the form of a descriptive test of five items. The research hypothesis was tested using the t-test with a significance level of 5%. The t-test produces a t-count value of problem solving ability of 5.832 which is smaller than  which is equal to 2.003 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is the influence of the problem-based learning model assisted by pocket book physics on students' problem solving abilities. This result can be proven by the N-gain test, where there is an increase in problem solving abilities of 60% for the experimental class and the control class by 34% with the medium category.

Abstract

This research aims to determine (1) the influence of brain based learning (BBL) models on the understanding of physics concepts among high school students, (2) the influence of BBL models on physics critical thinking ability among high school students, and (3) the influence of BBL models on conceptual understanding and the critical thinking ability among high school students. This research is a quasi-experiment and uses non-equivalent control group design with pre-test and post-test design. The population were all students of class X MIPA of SMAN 1 Gerung in the academic year of 2018/2019. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The experimental class is treated using the BBL model while the control class uses the expository learning model. The hypothesis used are the polled variance t-test and Manova test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that (1) there are influences of BBL models on the understanding of physics concepts among high school students (2) there are influences of the BBL modesl on physics critical thinking ability among high school educators, and (3) there are influences of BBL  models on conceptual understanding and critical thinking ability in physics among high school student.
