Abstract

The study intended to discover : 1) the impact of Guided Inquiry  Learning Model (henceforth, GILM) towards students scientific  processing skills and conceptual mastery which was reviewed from their prior knowleadge  (high or low ), 2)  the impact of  students basic level  of knowledge towards  their  scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery, and 3) the interaction between learning model and students prior knowledge towards their scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery. The study employed quasi experimental method with 2 x 2 factorial analyses. The study was conducted in Junior High School 2 Mataram (SMPN 2 Mataram) in academic year of 2016/2017. The sample of data collection utilized cluster random sampling technique. Both experimental and control groups were consisted of 62 students.  Scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery observation sheets were used as research instruments. The data analyzed with Anava with SPSS version 20 for windows. The results showed that 1) there was a significant impact of GILM and conventional learning model towards students’ scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery, 2) there was no significant impact of students prior knowledge towards their scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery, 3) there was no interaction between learning models and students’ prior knowledge towards their scientific processing skills and conceptual mastery.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect learning multimedia on students’ ability to answer problems on heat concepts, especially in the analysis of the of energy in water form change. The study was conducted in class X of SMAN 3 Mataram. Total number of sample was 80 students, divided into two classes: 42 students in Experimental class taught using interactive learningmultimedia, and 38 student in control class taught without interactive learningmultimedia. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the ability of the students working on the energy analysis is better in the experimental class than the control class (α = 0.05; sig = 0.03).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models and its contribution to improving critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. This research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research samples was taken with a purposive sampling technique with criteria for physics prospective teacher were taking the fundamental physics course as many as 2 (two) classes that would be used as the experimental and control group. The research data were analyzed descriptively and statistically (inferential) using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 23.0. The results showed that the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models had a positive impact and contributed to the improvement of critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. Further description of the research conducted is presented in this article.

Abstract

Biogas techniques is a way to produce energy with the anaerobic process by utilizing organic ingredients, one of which can be derived from herbs. The quality of biogas production can be viewed by performing the measurement of absolute pressure of biogas. Absolute pressure is the atmospheric pressure coupled with the measured pressure.  The magnitude of the pressure will affect the quality of the flame produced biogas. This study, using the method of observation, and measurements. As for the data analysis techniques,. The findings focused to find the different of biogas production by measuring the change in absolute pressure of biogas. Measurements are done using a manometer. The results obtained show that the introduction by using cow dung retrieved changes pressure biogas occurred on day 3 with pressure 140.565 N/m2, the characteristics of the data graph illustrates the R2 = 0.677. Different results are indicated on the mixing water hyacinth with cow manure, biogas pressure changes happen on day 1 with the characteristic graph of a R2 = 0.976. This condition describes that the mixing of the water hyacinth and cow dung provides distinctions signifikant in accelerating the process of occurrence of biogas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s critical thinking skills and physics learning outcomes of class X in SMAN 1 Gerung in academic year 2014/2015. The study uses a quasi experiment with design untreated control group design with pretest and posttest. The sample was selected by clauster random sampling and obtained class X-3 as the experiment class using structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach and class X-6 as the control class using expository learning model. Data post-test were tested for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis test. Hypothesis test using t-test polled variance with 5% of significance level. The results of the study were obtained: (1) there was the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s critical thinking skills and (2) there was the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s physics learning outcomes  This indicates that the structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach is better than the expository learning model. Expected to do further research on structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach that measure the other of higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to manufacture and characterize optical properties of ZnO thin layer which is deposited on glass substrate by sol-gel spin-coating method, through the process of growing ZnO thin layer of zinc acetate dehydrate (ZnAc) precursor on glass substrate with spin speed 2000 rpm for 30 minutes on a spin coater plate. The growth of layers by the sol-gel method of spin-coating is determined by the length of time of spin rotation which is related to the thickness of the thin layer. The Samples on the substrate in anneling at 400 oC and 500 oC for 1.5 hours to obtain a thin layer of ZnO. The obtained layer was characterized by UV-Vis test to determine the optical properties of the coating which include absorbance, transmittance, and bandgap energy. UV-Vis testing states that, the higher concentration of ZnO solution then the layer looks increasingly not transparent so that the transmittance value is smaller, otherwise the absorbance value of the layer becomes higher. This is indicated by the results obtained, at 1 M molarity concentration obtained the value of transmittance (50. 40%), while at a concentration of 0.7 M obtained greater transmittance value (75.24%) at the same heating temperature 500 oC. The gap energy is a forbidden area where electrons are located between the valence bands filled by the electrons and the empty conduction bands of the electrons. With respect to the photon energy to excite the electrons, the annealing treatment will affect the magnitude of the gap energy. High annearance temperature obtained a smaller gap energy compared with lower anneling temperatures. The obtained energy gap of 2.1 eV at 400 °C annealing temperature is greater than 0.1 eV compared to the heating temperature of 500 oC at 2.0 eV.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which aims to improve learning outcomes physics class VIII SMPN 3 Mataram. The sample used in this research is class VIII 3 totaling 30 people, by applying science technology society learning model. Action research consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and evaluation, and reflection, while the implementation science technology society learning model is done through the five stages of the preliminary stage, the formation of the concept, application of concepts, strengthening the concept and assessment. This study is successful if students achieve learning outcomes classical completeness 85% with the value of each student reach ≥ 75. Based on the evaluation of the obtained value of the average grade in the first cycle of 78.01 with 71.43% classical completeness. In the second cycle learning outcomes of students has increased, with an average grade of 86.02 and classical completeness amounted to 85.7%. Based on the results of this study concluded that by applying science technology society learning model can improve learning outcomes physics class VIII SMPN 3 Mataram according to the five stages above.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem based learning model with debriefing prior knowledge of the science process skills of learners. This research is a quasi experimental research using non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study is all students of class XI IPA SMAN 1 Montong Gading. The sampling of the research using saturated sampling technique, so that the selected class XI IPA 1 as the experimental class will be given treatment in the form of problem-based learning model with initial knowledge knowledge and class XI IPA 2 as the control class to be given treatment in the form of problem-based learning model. Data collection of science process skills using observation techniques on the observation sheet. Hypothesis test using t-pooled variance test obtained tcount value is greater than ttable. The result of the research shows that the use of problem-based learning model with prior knowledge sharing influences the science process skill of SMA students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce teaching materials compilation of mathematical physics II on the subject of differential equations. Teaching materials that have been developed in the form of teaching modules. The research method used is a development study consisting of four stages: the stage of determination, design, development, and disseminate. The results obtained from this research are in the form of teaching module of mathematical physics II differential equation and its application. The teaching module generated in terms of feasibility aspects of content, presentation, and linguistics obtained amean score is 92.5 with a percentage is 79.74%. This shows that the teaching module that has been created as good and feasible to use. It can be categorized effective as measured by the impact of student activities, responses, and value of students reasoning abilities. The impact of student activity seen during the learning process after using the module is 73.59% and the student activity is categorized much or quite practical. The percentage of students' response after using the module was 80.1% and categorized well. The impact on the mathematical reasoning ability meanscore of the class 70.87.  This shows that the teaching module that has been created can be  categorizedeffetive. Thus, it can be concluded that the teaching module compilation of mathematical physics II the subject of differential equations and their applications can be said to be effective and feasible to use.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning cycle 7E model on physics learning outcomes of students of class XI SMAN 8 Mataram. The type of this research is experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study is all students of class XI SMAN 8 Mataram academic year 2017/2018. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique, with class XI MIA 1 students as experiment class and XI MIA 2 class student as control class. The instruments used are multiple choice test and observation sheet. Based on the result of research, the average value for pretest of experiment class and control class is 26,783 and 28,333 while for the average of post-test of experiment class and control class is 60,696 and 52,667. The research hypothesis was tested by t-test with a significant level of 5%. Data of learning result analyzed by using t-test of two parties obtained taccount equal to 2,071 and ttable equal to 1,679 at degree of freedom is 45. According to the criteria of the hypothesis test, if taccount greater than ttable, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. So it can be concluded that there is influence of Learning Cycle 7E model to physics learning result of class XI SMAN 8 Mataram.
