Abstract

Driving a motorcycle needs to be supported by good driving knowledge, so that traffic order can be carried out so that road safety can be realized, besides that the enforcement of driving standards needs to be considered such as the use of helmets and driving documents. This study aims to determine the relationship of the knowledge variable (X) to the safety riding compliance variable (Y) of students of SMAN 8 Balikpapan. The method in this study using quantitative methods with a total sample of 54 students of class XII from a population of 120 students. Samples were taken randomly from two majors, namely natural Science and Social Sciences. Based on the results of the research sample test, all are valid and reliable and there is a significant relationship between the X variable and the Y variable with a P-value of 0.018. The conclusion of the research conducted on students of SMAN 8 Balikpapan that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance with safety riding.

Abstract

The research objective is to identify hazards and risks in the work process of installing fiber optic at a height at the Balikpapan branch of IndiHome PT Telkom. The research method used a qualitative approach, identification of hazards and risks using the JSA instrument. The results obtained in the work process of installing fiber optic in Indihome, there are 13 work steps that have been identified as many as 99 potential hazards with 36 risks. The work stages have a high risk, namely the risk of being hit by another vehicle at this stage (transportation of personnel, tools and materials) and the risk of falling from a height at that stage (climbing stairs, installing fiber optic cable connectors to ODP and descending stairs). The conclusion is that the fiber optic installation work consists of 13 work steps with 99 identified potential hazards and 36 possible risks

Abstract

This research was conducted at PLTU Teluk Balikpapan. The research objective was to analyze the implementation of a safety permit based on the reference standards Guidelines on Permit to Work System-Oil and Gas Producers 2003. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative. The results of the research on the safety permit procedure of PLTU Balikpapan have the conformity of 89% with the Guidelines on Permit to Work System-Oil and Gas Producers 2003. The remaining 15% is in the form of non-conformities at the preparation stage, namely in the isolation stage at PLTU Teluk Balikpapan using Log Out Tag Out (LOTO ) by installing locks and warning signs on equipment in the form of barricades around the work area. Apart from that, in the process stage, the display of permit on the information board or wallpaper for a safety permit is not made. In conclusion, the tagging system and key installation have been implemented, but there is only 1 (one) key provided and held by the operator, so accessing the equipment/system with multiple work permits will experience problems. other than that, the display of permit on the information board is not made.

Abstract

Borneo Laundry is a business that is engaged in laundry or laundry services. Workers in Borneo Laundry, who are mostly female workers, work from Monday to Saturday with working hours of 8-12 hours/day, where based on preliminary observations it was found that some workers were working with odd work postures, so it has the potential to cause musculoskeletal disorders. The purpose of this study was to identify musculoskeletal complaints and to determine the risk level of work posture of workers at Borneo Laundry. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, with the collection technique using NBM (Nordic Body Map) keisters which are used as an initial screening to provide an overview of complaints of musculoskeletal disorders, and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) observation sheet and documentation to obtain posture risk level data. Work Research objects in this study were 3 Borneo Laundry workers. Based on the results of the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire, shows that 3 research objects experienced MSDs complaints, starting from “moderate” to “very high” MSDs complaints. Based on the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, it shows that 3 work processes have a "high" risk level for work posture and 3 work processes have a "medium" work posture risk level. So it can be concluded that it is necessary to take corrective action as soon as possible on the work posture of workers in Borneo Laundry, with the hope that the musculoskeletal complaints felt by workers will decrease, so that work productivity increases and health is maintained.

Abstract

PT Sarana Berkat Sesami is a company engaged in fabrication, where its main activity is welding. Welding is the connection between two or more metals by utilizing heat energy. For this reason, it is necessary to handle potential hazards, so as to reduce the impact of work accidents and losses. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential hazards at each sequence of welding work steps and determine the proper and appropriate control measures. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, using Job Safety Analysis instruments to identify potential hazards and control them. The results of this study obtained potential hazards originating from humans, materials, machines, methods, and the work environment. These potential hazards include welding sparks and fires, UV and infrared radiation, welding dust and fumes, electric shocks, working position (ergonomics), incompetent conditions of workers. Controls are carried out based on a hierarchy of controls, namely engineering control, administrative control and personal protective equipment (PPE). In conclusion, from the reasoning work, there are 12 stages of work identified with potential hazards in all stages consisting of 39 potential hazards with the implementation of controls that include elimination, substitution, engineering control, administrative control and personal protective equipment to Indonesia.

Abstract

PT Junacon is a company engaged in the general contractor sector. Based on the preliminary observations that the researchers have done, it is found that the excess work hours of workers are 12 hours to 14 hours a day, this is due to the completion of achieving work targets. The research method was carried out with a quantitative approach, to find the relationship between employee working hours (variable X) and unsafe behavior (variable Y). The number of samples is 32 workers. The linear regression results showed a strong, positive and unidirectional relationship with the t value> t table, namely 6.442> t table 2.042. The relationship between these two variables can indicate that the excessive number of working hours can cause workers to behave unsafe. It can be concluded that both the X variable and the Y variable are related to the t value of 6.442.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of the fire emergency response system and life-saving facilities at PT X in Balikpapan. This study used a qualitative descriptive method by means of a survey and going down directly to the field. Data were collected through direct observation using checklists, interviews and interview guides to informants who were considered to know the most about the emergency response system and life-saving facilities. The data analysis used was descriptive percentage. The results of his research found that the suitability of the fire emergency response system was 89% and the life-saving facilities were 73%. The conclusion of this study is the suitability of the fire emergency response system and life-saving facilities at PT X in Balikpapan has an average value of 81%. Based on this value, the suitability level is included in the BAIK classification, which means that all component levels are appropriate, but there are some missing criteria.

Abstract

Leakage at access fitting of injection point chemical has created a potential environmental pollution and safety risk for workers due to chemical and hydrocarbon spills. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of leakage and improve the reliability of the access fitting chemical injection system using the PDCA method. Analysis of the causes of leakage was carried out using Fishbone, FMEA, and Pareto method. The results of this study showed that leakage in the access fitting injection system was caused by the galvanic corrosion mechanism. Modification and innovation result in the access fitting injection system using tee less method have succeeded in eliminating the galvanic effect that causes corrosion. The improvement process of the access fitting injection system using tee less method has met five quality targets including zero spill, zero leaking accident, cost savings, fast installation, and increased confidence in the reliability of the chemical injection system.

Abstract

Lamaru Urban Village is one of the villages where the majority of the population earns a living as a vegetable farmer. to increase agricultural output farmers always use chemical pesticides to reduce pest attacks. Pesticides contain harmful chemicals. The use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) can protect farmers when mixing and spraying pesticides. This study aims to determine the description of occupational safety and health in the use of pesticides in vegetable farmers in Kelurahan Lamaru, Balikpapan, based on personal protective equipment and how spraying works. In this study using quantitative methods with the technique of saturated sample / total sampling. The method of data collection in this study was carried out by observation using univariate analysis which contains the frequency distribution to describe personal protective equipment and how it works. In fulfilling PPE farmers can only use a few PPE hats, long-sleeved clothes and long pants so that this is incompatible with PPE fulfillment and work methods because farmers' low level of education causes a lack of knowledge about the dangers of pesticides and farmers are in direct contact with pesticides without using PPE complete so as to cause acute poisoning with local effects namely itching and dizziness when spraying and after spraying. The conclusion of this study is that there is a description of occupational safety and health in the use of pesticides in vegetable farmers in the Mentari Jaya Farmer Group based on personal protective equipment as much as 38% and how to work as much as 57%.

Abstract

Hazardous and toxic materials and waste have a negative impact on human safety, human health, environmental protection. More than 26 million types of chemical compounds circulating in the world will cause dangerous substances and toxic substances, while in Indonesia there are almost 5.000 species. According to the Central Statistics Agency of the KALTIM Province, the number of cars is 184.566 units, and a large number of vehicles will certainly also increase the use of oil and oil changes, where used oil is included in the dangerous substances and toxic substances category. For motor vehicle repair shops serving oil changes, it is called a producer of dangerous substances and toxic substances and is required to store dangerous substances and toxic substances. According to data from PT. Serasi Mitra Mobil (June 2019), can produce B3 liquid waste of used oil by 30 liters per month. The research objective is to determine the storage of hazardous and toxic waste case studies at PT. Serasi Mitra Mobil in Balikpapan. This research was conducted by direct observation and in depth interviews related to the storage of hazardous and toxic waste. Based on direct observation and in depth interviews, PT. Serasi Mitra Mobil as a produces of dangerous substances and toxic substances is left to other parties. Dangerous substances and toxic substancesis included in the appropriate pachaging but not labeled and symbol, also not placed in a separate building. The necessary repairs consist of having dangerous substances and toxic substances facilities in the form of buildings, tanks or containers, slime, waste piles, waste impoundment, hazardous and rain protected buildings and rain and sun, having lighting, ventilation, drainage, drainage basins, waste buildings dangerous substances and toxic substances must be adhered to by dangerous substances and toxic substances, having emergency equipment.
