Abstract

Ulandari D, Setyowati N, Sudjatmiko S, Widodo W, Muktamar Z.  2021. Effect of vermicompost and ammonium nitrate dosage on growth and yield of long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 514- 523. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). The production of long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) can be increased through intensification or extensification, respectively. Intensification includes soil management activities, selection of superior varieties, pest and disease control, and fertilization. Fertilization is necessary for the improvement of long beans yield. The combination of organic and synthetic is necessary to maintain soil productivity. Such combination is vermicompost and ammonium nitrate fertilizer. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the effect of a combined dose of vermicompost and ammonium nitrate on long bean growth and yield. The study used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The treatments were Vermicompost (V) 15 tons/ha, ZA 50 kg/ha, V 15 tons/ha + ZA 50 kg/ha, (V 15 tons/ha + ZA 100 kg/ha, V 15 tons/ha + ZA 150 kg/ha, V 15 tons/ha + ZA 200 kg/ha, and V 15 tons/ha + ZA 250 kg/ha. The results indicated that applying vermicompost alone or with ZA had no noticeable effect on plant growth and yield. There were no significant differences in plant height, pod length, pod diameter, number of seeds, number of pods, or pod weight between treatments. Long bean productivity is lower than its potential yield due to unfavorable environmental factors.

Abstract

Herlinda S. 2020. Use of natural enemies for biological control for insect pests of food crops and vegetables to support organic farming. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).In organic farming, synthetic fertilizers and pesticides are not used in crop cultivation so that the agricultural products are healthy and high quality. For this reason, the use of natural enemies should be applied to support the successful application of organic farming. This paper aimed to review and discuss the role of natural enemies in biological control for pests of food crops and vegetables. This study was conducted with a literature study approach. From the results of the review that natural enemies have been successfully utilized for biological control for insect pests of the food and vegetable crops, namely from the predators, parasitoids and entomopathogens. Predators, for example Pardosa pseudoannulata, have been used with a conservation approach to control rice insect pests (Nilaparvata lugens). Parasitoids, such as egg parasitoids (Trichogramma spp.) have been released to control Helicoverpa armigera eggs that attacked maize and soybeans. Entomopathogenic fungi that have been shown to kill insect pests of vegetables (Spodoptera litura) and maize (Spodoptera frugiperda) are Penicillium citrinum, Talaromyces diversus, Beauveria bassiana, and Metarhizium anisopliae. So, natural enemies are very useful in controlling pests of food crops and vegetables. The presence and persistence of natural enemies in the field can support the success in application of organic farming.

(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang  20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Tungro is one of the important diseases in rice. This disease is caused by multiple infections of the two types of viruses, Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus (RTBV) and Rice Tungro Spherical virus (RTSV). This study aims to evaluate the resistance of several wetland rice varieties to tungro disease. The varieties tested in this study were Banyuasin, Batanghari, Indragiri, Kapuas, Komojoyo and TN1 as susceptible varieties. The evaluation of these varieties carried out using the test tube method. The disease transmission was carried out on 10 plant seeds of each variety with four replications. The level of resistance were determined based on the severity of tungro symptoms according to the IRRI Standard Evaluation System for Rice. The results showed that the five several wetland rice varieties were categorized as susceptible with a high incidence or percentage of attack 90-100% and a disease index (DI) that varied between varieties. Observations of the incubation period showed that the symptoms of tungro disease appeared fastest in the TN1 varieties, followed by Indragiri, Banyuasin, Batanghari, Kapuas, and Komojoyo.

Fazrin MM, Mukiat M, Bochori B. 2020. Blasting geometry evaluation in order to produce desired granite fragmentation using jaw crusher in PT. Wira Penta Kencana Karimun. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).PT.Wira Penta Kencana uses blasting methode to crack rock material and to produce desiret blasting fragmentation that is suitable with jaw crusher Nordberg C-140 in order to maximize the production. Blasting geometry is one of the parameter to produce good quality of blasting fragmentation. The percentage of boulder-sized blasting fragmentation (> 80 cm) that is produced currently in the field is 31,62% with powder factor 0,28. The boulder-sized of blasting fragmentation >80 cm with percentage >30% needs reevaluated blasting geometry in order to decrease boulder-sized of blasting fragmentation. This study aims to reevaluate blasting geometry which is used by PT. Wira Kencana in order to produce boulder-sized of blasting fragmentation that is suitable with feed jaw crusher Nordberg C-140 and reach the amount of blasting target (10.000 tons/ blasting). This study is a quantitative study. The equation that is used to reevaluate blasting geometry is C. J. Conya equation. The reevaluated blasting geometry by using C. J. Conya equation produces bore hole 4,5 inch, burden 3,40 m, spacing 4,70 m, stemming 2,38 m, subdrilling 1,2 m, hole depth 15,02 m, bench height 14,00 m, main charge 12,45 m. It needs 80 blasting hole to reach the amount of blasting target. In conclusion, the reevaluated blasting geometry produces boulder-sized blasting fragmentation >80 cm with percentage 28,70% (powder factor 0,27). The blasting fragmentation will become more accurate if blasting point in field is measured correctly that is suitable with the blasting geometry.
