Abstract

Susilo E, Setyowati N, Nurjannah U, Riwandi, Muktamar Z. 2021. Inhibition of germination due to application of extracts from main plants and ratoon sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) produced in swamplands. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 426-434.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Sorghum is one of the plants that produces allelopathic chemicals with bioherbicide potential. Water extract can be used to suppress weeds around planted plants. The water extract material's source has the potential to be used as a variety of bioherbicides. The goal of the study was to see if water extract of sorghum obtained from the main plant and ratoon growing in swampland with different test plants could hinder germination. A randomized block design was adopted in this investigation. The first factor is the extract's source, which is made up of the primary plant and ratoon. The second component was the test plants, which were Numbu and Suri 3 types. Experiments on Petri dishes used the bioassay method. Each petri dish received 10 mL of aqueous extract, 25 sorghum seeds, and was cultured for five days. The main plant had the largest germination inhibition, as evidenced by normal germination (33.78%), shorter radicle length (5.55 cm), and a higher number of non-growing seeds (47.12%). Furthermore, the Suri 3 variety had the maximum germination inhibition, with normal sprouts (34.65%), radicle length (5.10 cm), sprout wet weight (0.118 g), and radicle dry weight (0.118 g) in the test plant (0.0012 g). low, and seeds did not develop any faster (43.57 percent). These data suggest that the most allelopathic chemicals are produced by sorghum extract taken from the primary plant. Furthermore, the maximum inhibition was achieved using sorghum extract from the Numbu variety in combination with the Suri 3 test plant. As a result, the primary crop has the greatest potential as a bioherbicide source.

Abstract

Dinata K, Puspitasari M, Calista I, Oktavia Y, Rosmanah S, Yahumri Y, Suyanto H, Yuliasari S, Sastro Y. 2021. Performance of pests and diseases attack and yield of three new superior varieties of rice on biological control technology display. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 555-562.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Rice is a strategic food commodity whose needs are always increasing. Currently, food security and food safety must be carried out in order to ensure the availability of healthy food for consumption. One of the input factors for pollution to health is the excessive use of synthetic chemical pesticides in the production process in the field. In an effort to control pests and plant diseases, the government has implemented an integrated pest control program (IPM), but this technology has not yet been developed. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of several rice varieties and the use of biological agents in suppressing pest attacks on rice plants. The study was conducted in a randomized block design with two paired treatments, namely the use of biological agents and synthetic chemicals on three new high yielding varieties of lowland rice This research was carried out on the cooperator farmer's land area of 1 ha. The technological components applied are the use of three New Superior Varieties (Inpari Digdaya, Inpari IR Nutri Zinc and Inpari 46) and biological control. The results showed that the main pest and disease attacks on the treatment of biological agents and synthetic chemicals were not significantly different. However, in the treatment of using new superior varieties, there was a significant difference in the intensity of panicle neck blast disease from the three varieties. The Inpari 46 variety has the highest productivity compared to the other two varieties.

Abstract

Selviana I, Majid I, Al-Rasyidin K, Husayn MM, Wijaya RT, Rarassari MA. 2021. Edwardsiellosis disease control using natural vaccines in catfish (Pangasius pangasius) cultivation. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 697-704.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Catfish (Pangasius pangasius) is the leading freshwater consumption fish that is widely cultivated. Various efforts have been made to increase catfish production, one of which is the intensification of cultivation. However, catfish are very susceptible to Edwardsielliosis disease caused by the bacterium Edwarsiella tarda, so that it can cause death to fish. E. tarda infection can cause high enough mortality, causing a decrease in productivity in catfish and can cause losses for fish farmers. This study aims to identify edwarsiellosis disease with natural vaccines in catfish (P. pangasius) aquaculture. So the result of this study to treat edwardsiellosis is the administration of natural vaccines, although it is not as effective as treating extracellular with various methods that have been used to develop effective vaccines against edwardsiellosis. Microbiological testing was carried out on samples of kidney, liver, and brain organs taken at random from catfish infected with the bacterium Edwardiella tarda. So there is a need for natural vaccines, because vaccines have gradually become the main product in disease prevention in catfish (P. pangasius) aquaculture. So it can be concluded that catfish (P. pangasius) infected with edwardsiellosis disease can be treated using natural vaccines in catfish culture so that farmers do not experience losses and become an inhibiting factor for the success of catfish cultivation. It is hoped that the community or catfish cultivators can pay attention and carry out good and clean cultivation so that the fish that are cultivated do not become infected with edwardsiellosis disease.

Abstract

Puspitahati P, Andini R, HP Rahmad. 2021. Urban farming with NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic influenced by gutter slope and water discharge on pakcoy (Brassica rapa chinensis) production. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 835-843. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). In the era of a pandemic that requires us to reduce mobility outside the home, people lose their activities and jobs. One alternative for activities in the pandemic era is growing vegetables using a hydroponic farming system. The hydroponic system is urban farming   which is one of the extensification of agriculture and can prosper the community in the pandemic era. This study aims to determine the production of pakcoy plants using several slopes of gutters and water discharge in the NFT hydroponic system. The research method used was the Split Plot Design with two research factors, namely the water discharge (Q) as the main plot consisting of two treatment levels and the slope of the Talang (T) as a subplot consisting of three treatment levels with the combination treatments repeated three times. The parameters of this study were plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight, and plant productivity. The conclusion of the study was that the water discharge and the slope of the gutters had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves and fresh weight of pakcoy plants. Pakcoy plant productivity was the greatest at 6% gutter slope with a water flow rate of 0.5 l/minute, which is 0.463 kg/m2. While the smallest was at 4% gutter slope with a water discharge of 1.3 l/minute 0.354 kg/m2. The growth of pakcoy plants at 6% gutter slope and 0.5 l/minute water flow tends to be better when compared to 4%, 6% and 8% gutter slopes and 1.3 l/minute water flow.

Abstract

Akbar MF, Azhari M,  Neka VA, Arif A, Simbolon CA, Hamdani H, Wijayanti M.  2021. Utilization of water hyacinth and sugarcane for making tawes fish feed. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang 20 Oktober 2021. pp. 795-802.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) is a weed that is commonly found in lakes and swamps. It is only used as fertilizers and handicrafts in fewer quantities in Indonesia.  Biomass of water hyacinth can be a local feed raw material which is expected to be a raw material for fish feed potentially especially herbivorous fish such as tawes fish . In addition to water hyacinth, bagasse waste as raw material for fish feed can be one solution. Technological innovation is needed to increase the nutrient content of sugarcane waste which is still low. Making probiotic fermented feed can be used as an alternative to improve the nutrition and digestibility of feed. Degradation of organic compounds can be done with the help of cellulolytic, ligninolytic, and hemicellulolytic bacteria and fungi. In addition to reducing the quantity of waste, it also supports sustainable aquaculture policies. The study aims to reduce water hyacinth weeds in the waters and to utilize bagasse which was considered waste so far as an alternative feed for herbivorous fish.  The results obtained from this review are the manufacture of alternative feeds from water hyacinth and bagasse can be a cheap alternative feed that can support fish growth. It is expected to be an alternative feed made from local weeds and a cheap industrial by-product for herbivorous fish farming.

Gustiar F, Munandar M, Aprilia NR, Hasmeda M, Amar M, Arsi A. 2021. Growth and Yield of Spinach (Amaranthus sp) in various compositions of Alternative Nutrients to replace AB Mix with Hydroponic System.  In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-9 Tahun 2021, Palembang  20 Oktober 2021. pp. 931-940 . Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). The high cost of AB Mix hydroponic nutrients, so there is a need for alternative growth nutrients that are cheaper and easily available. Aim of this research was to determine the hydroponic nutrition substitute for AB mix for the growth of spinach (Amaranthus sp). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) method with four hydroponic nutrition treatments with different ingredients. The treatments given were AB mix fertilizer, NPK-based nutrition, single fertilizer-based nutrition, and organic nutrients. hydroponic nutrient constituents are calculated based on the needs of leaf vegetable plants. Needs Parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves, leaf greenery level, leaf area (cm2), root volume (ml3), plant fresh weight (g), plant dry weight (g), and nitrogen concentration (N) at leaf. Based on the observation of growth parameters, AB mix nutrition treatment showed the best results. However, the fresh weight parameter of the single fertilizer-based nutrient treatment showed results that were not significantly different from the ABmix treatment. In addition to providing the highest yield, the lowest cost requirement is 1 liter of concentrate at a cost of 44,302 IDR so that single fertilizer-based hydroponic nutrients can be recommended as an alternative to AB Mix nutrition.
