Abstract

This study aims to analyze smartphone usage and changes in students' social cohesion patterns at UPT SDI Barugaia No. 60, Selayar Islands. The focus of the study includes students' smartphone usage patterns, social cohesion patterns formed in their social lives, and changes in togetherness and social solidarity that emerge as a result of the use of digital devices. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnomethodology studies. The research informants consisted of students as the main informants and teachers as key informants. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that students' smartphone use occurs collectively through online gaming activities, WhatsApp group communication, and sharing digital content that forms a new social interaction space outside the school environment. Students' social cohesion patterns are still formed through academic cooperation and friendships, but develop stronger in small groups based on shared digital experiences. In addition, students' togetherness and social solidarity have changed from physical game activities to solidarity based on digital communication networks through the practice of sharing hotspots, assignment information, and cooperation in online gaming activities. Thus, smartphone use does not weaken students' social cohesion, but transforms the form of togetherness and solidarity in the social relations structure of peer groups.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the actualization of da'wah and communication values in the Nilekka tradition among the Makassar ethnic community in Makassar City. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and was conducted in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. Research participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, involving traditional leaders, religious leaders, and married couples who had recently undergone the Nilekka procession. Data were collected through participant observation, interviews, and documentation studies, and subsequently analyzed using the interactive qualitative data analysis model. The findings reveal that the Nilekka tradition functions as a medium of cultural da'wah communication that integrates customary practices with Islamic law. The da'wah messages conveyed encompass aspects of aqidah (Islamic creed), reflected in the intention of worship and submission to divine destiny; aspects of sharia, manifested through the public announcement of marriage and the transition of mahram relationships; and aspects of akhlaq (Islamic morality), expressed through respect for in-laws and the strengthening of social bonds (silaturahmi). These messages are articulated through structured communication patterns, namely symbolic communication in the handover of pakmattoang and pannimbaranngi, verbal communication through pappaseng advice and pakkiok bunting poetry, and non-verbal communication through the modification of the traditional Baju Bodo attire complemented by the wearing of the hijab. Therefore, the Nilekka tradition demonstrates a strong capacity to synergize with religious teachings without losing its essential values, enabling it to remain preserved as a cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of tire modification training on increasing the speed of the sickle kick in Naga Kembar pencak silat athletes from Pasangkayu Regency. The method used was an experiment with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 20 athletes determined through a total sampling technique. The instrument used was a 15-second sickle kick speed test, adapted from the pencak silat sickle kick ability instrument developed by Kamarudin, Zulrafli, & Irma (2023). The intervention program was implemented for 15 meeting sessions with a frequency of three times per week for five weeks, lasting from April 11 to May 14, 2026. Data analysis used the Paired Sample T-Test assisted by JASP software. The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed a normal data distribution (pretest: p = 0.371; posttest: p = 0.775). The results of the hypothesis test showed a t value = -12.06, df = 19, and p < 0.001, so the null hypothesis was rejected. The average speed of the sickle kick increased from 17.25 to 20.80 (an increase of 20.58%), with Cohen's d = 2.696 which is included in the large effect category. The conclusion of this study is that tire rubber modification training has a significant effect on increasing the speed of the sickle kick of the Naga Kembar pencak silat athletes of Pasangkayu Regency and can be used as an economical alternative method for developing achievements at the regional level.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of ecotheology in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as a strategic effort to strengthen an ecologically-minded school culture amidst the global environmental crisis. The background of this study is rooted in the increasing urgency of education that is not only oriented towards religious cognitive aspects, but also on the internalization of the values of sustainability and ecological responsibility in Islamic educational practices. The main objective of this study is to analyze the interaction between Islamic theological values and ecological awareness that shape environmentally friendly pedagogical practices in Islamic educational institutions. The approach used is qualitative with a thematic analysis strategy through the processes of coding, triangulation, meta-analysis, and meta-synthesis of various empirical data and academic literature. The results of the study indicate that the values of tauhid, khalifah, and amanah can be used as an epistemological and pedagogical foundation in developing a learning model oriented towards environmental sustainability. The integration of ecotheology into the PAI curriculum can create a more contextual ecological awareness, harmoniously combining spiritual, social, and ecological aspects. The contribution of this research lies in affirming the importance of an ecotheology-based Islamic education paradigm as a transformative approach to building the character of students who are faithful, knowledgeable, and ecologically ethical in facing the challenges of modern civilization.

Abstract

Abstract Podcasts are digital media where speakers communicate naturally, making them suitable for analyzing conversational structure. Although many studies explore conversations in classrooms, talk shows, and daily interactions, research focusing on Indonesian podcast, especially those discussing educational issues is still limited. Therefore, this study aims to identify and explain the five conversational elements proposed by Yule (2006): turn-taking, pauses, overlaps, back-channels, and adjacency pairs. The data were collected from a 36 minute episode of the Cerita Untungs podcast titled Kurikulum Pendidikan Indonesia Bikin Bodoh, Pak Nadiem Menteri Gagal, SMP Belum Bisa Baca?, which was transcribed and coded using a descriptive qualitative method. The results show 435 instances of turn-taking, 141 instances of pauses, 93 occurrences of overlaps, 153 back-channel responses, and 129 adjacency pairs. These features help organize the flow of the conversation and support the speakers in delivering their ideas clearly. The findings also indicate that the conversational patterns are influenced by the podcast’s informal communication style and its discussion of issues related to Indonesia’s education system. This study contributes to understanding conversational structure in digital media and highlights the role of Indonesian podcasts as platforms for public discussion on social and educational issues.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital transformation model in empowering seaweed farmers in South Sulawesi's production centers, with a focus on its impact on increasing productivity, market access, and farmer welfare. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with Jeneponto Regency as the main seaweed production area. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The results show that the application of digital technologies, such as e-commerce platforms, farm management applications, and the use of social media for marketing, has a significant impact on expanding market networks and increasing production efficiency. However, the main challenges faced include limited digital literacy of farmers and access to technological infrastructure. This study recommends strengthening digital training programs, collaboration with the government and the private sector, and the development of locally based applications that suit the needs of seaweed farmers. With the implementation of the right digital transformation model, empowering seaweed farmers can encourage local economic growth and support sustainable development in coastal areas.

Abstract

Islam in Southeast Asia has developed through a long and complex historical trajectory, particularly in regions where Muslims currently occupy a minority position within modern nation-states. This article examines the history of modern Islam in Patani (Southern Thailand) and Mindanao (Southern Philippines) as two significant regions representing the dynamics of Muslim minority communities in Southeast Asia. This study employs a historical–qualitative approach using a literature review of contemporary historical, social, and political works. The findings indicate that modern Islam in Patani and Mindanao has been shaped not only by early Islamization processes but also significantly influenced by colonialism, state nationalist policies, educational modernization, as well as conflict and peace processes. In both regions, Islam has evolved as a religio-cultural identity that continuously negotiates with state power and global realities. This article asserts that modern Islam in Patani and Mindanao represents a form of creative adaptation by Muslim communities in maintaining their identity, dignity, and social sustainability.
