Abstract

The term "kaafir" (infidel) has existed since the time of the Prophet Muhammad.  In the Koran, it is stated that kaafir is a person who does not believe that Allah Swt. as God Almighty, people who worship idols, and Ahl Kitab (Jewish and Christian). The meaning of this term then changed, not only aimed at non-Muslims but also addressed to Muslims themselves. Muhammad  al- Maqdisi accused kaafir of those who did bid'ah, for those who made laws and those who followed laws other than the laws of the Koran and al-Hadith—then the Law, the 1945 Constitution, and Pancasila included kaafir products. As a consequence, they have been considered apostates and truly have become non-Muslims, and their blood is halal to be killed. The question is "how did the takfiri ideological concept according to Muhammad al-Maqdisi relate to religion and state".

Abstract

Lately radicalism in Indonesia is still warmly discussed. This phenomenon is a serious problem for the community. The organizational network of radicalism does not appear to be conspicuous, but if further examined lately the real threat of radicalism reemerged in Indonesia. This can not be separated from the other side of freedom of democrati- zation. The character or the soul of Indonesia as a nation, often called religus, friendly, tolerant, peaceful, gotong royong, and so on, is now being eroded and experiencing massive degradation. This paper will review the develop- ment of radicalism in Indonesia which in fact young people become agents in the process of the birth of radicalism in the perspective of sociology—the identity of young people as the next generation of the nation is at stake; how far they understand the question of radicalism in Indonesia; and youth radicalism can be seen as a response, criticism and antithesis, to orthodoxy and the mainstream that occurs in power relationships that can take the form of violence and nonviolence.

Abstract

The narration of Burdah reading became a feature of understanding in the religious life of the Jaddung community, Pragaan, Sumenep, Madura, East Java. In the Burdah reading has been a displacement meaning, from praise and expressions of love to the Prophet to the treatment of people who feel pain. Religious rituals and their behavior indicate a deviation in their religious understanding. This has even led to the sacredness of hope for life or death. The anxiety shows the process of changing or shifting the meaning of the Burdah tradition from praise to treatment. This happened because of the construction of people's knowledge to respond to the out- break of Ta'on disease in the 1960s, sick without cause in the 1970s, and people who had long been seriously ill in the 1980s. When awareness of health and knowledge develops as it is today, the tradition of Burdah reading continues to be a theological conviction to understand about life's hopes or hopes about reality regarding death. This reality encourages the writer to examine it more seriously with Gadamer's Hermeneutic analysis. The focus of this study leads to the existence of the Burdah tradition, understanding narration, and the theology of community expectations of Jaddung, Pragaan, Sumenep, East Java.

Abstract

In previous research, many scholars concern to study a Hassan Hanafi's Hermeneutic in Qur'an, although Hanafi did not write anything about Hermeneutic or Qur'anic Sciences (Ulum al-Qur'ān). These researchers aware that their research was weak and needed further research. Therefore, this research sought to continue these researches in order to welcome a new book entitled 'Science of the Qur'an' (ulum al-Qur'ān) written and published by Hassan Hanafi recently. The researcher will discover Hanafi's Hermeneutic from the epistemologicly perspective. From this research, we can conclude that the basic assumptions of the Hermeneutics of Hasan Hanafi: that a Muslim should shift their view from the al-Ḥawāmil al-Qur'āniah to the Qur'ānic spirit. Al-Ḥawāmil al-Qur'ānia are the language, the social environment, the geographic places and the historical times of the Qur'an. The Qur'ānic spirit is God's science carried by the Qur'an. The types of approaches that were in the Hassan Hanafi approach to Hermeneutic are: the objective approach or the historical approach, the subjective objectivity approach, and linguistic approach. The source of the Hermeneutics approach at Hassan Hanafi is oral narratives and codified texts.

Abstract

Islamic Studies are very rich in political thoughts and theories. Theoretically, this field has not been much explored, introduced, and developed by modern Muslim thinkers, although practically, Islam is closely related to politics since the early period of its birth. This paper examines and maps the theoretical discourse of politics that developed in the Islamic Studies. There are two issues that are the subject of discussion, namely: first, about the development of political theoretical discourse in Islamic Studies; and second, about the characteristics of the Islamic political discourse. From a descriptive- analytical view, it was found that discourse on politics in the Islamic Studies to the Middle Ages was discussed in two different genres, namely in the discipline of fiqh and philosophy. Each of these genres has different perspectives, approaches, ethical sources, and exponents. Although these two genres are different, they both emphasize the significance of ethics in politics or make ethics a character and basis on which politics is upheld.

Abstract

This study seeks to reveal the use of religious symbols (Islam) and reveal the meaning of the use of these symbols in the context of society in the regional elections (2015) in Banjarmasin. Therefore, the author uses Roland Barthes's semiotic theory to reveal the ideological meaning of symbols in relation to certain people's culture or habits. This research proves that the meaning of religious symbols appears as an effort to represent the piety of the candidates. Thus, these ideological symbols also exploit knowledge and regional history and religiosity.
