Information transmission takes an important role in overcoming the covid-19 pandemic. This role is carried out by various parties, including religious leaders. Religious leaders who have charismatic figures, have a special powers that can influence many actions of the people who become their communities. Messages which delivered by religious leaders have a tendency to be followed both the substance of good and bad messages. Therefore, this study aims to explore the responses of religious leaders in online media. To achieve this goal, this research uses descriptive-analysis method by Anthony Giddens about structuration approach. This paper concludes that a role of religious leaders in dealing with covid-19 plays the role as a shock absorber to other people (motivator), the pandemic information mouthpiece (communicator), and the role model (idol). Their role of religious leaders in preventing covid-19 increasingly strengthens a social hierarchy it has in patron-client relations. This form of relationship makes religious leaders to maximize their potential charismatic leadership. It makes our research further strengthen other research on an influence of religious leaders in the formation of social action.

This study discusses the development of human desires in Ḥayy bin Yaqẓan by Ibn Ṭufayl. Humans are classified as creatures that are very dynamic in realizing their lives rather than animals that tend to be static, so humans are considered as the most perfect creatures. But, behind this perfection, humans experience turmoil in facing a desire that always develops even beyond all needs. This research is a literature study using Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalytic approach as a data analysis tool. This research concludes that the stages of human development begin with a void of identity, self-identification, and understanding of the essence of self and life. In the context of psychology theory, the development of desires will never reach full fulfillment, because the desires that arise continue to experience the development of the extent to which the desire exceeds the object of his desire. However, in the context of this research, the fulfillment of needs will end when a person comes to the position of his knowledge of the essence of live and life. He will realize that the desire in him, is the desire to recognize the essence of the God that is in them.

This paper discusses the dimensions of the pilgrimage tradition that is commonly practiced by the community. Pilgrimage is not only seen as an activity to pray for people who have died, but in it there are varied moral values. There are no specific time provisions for making pilgrimages. However, it is different from the Majapura village community who make the pilgrimage at the end of the sya’ban month (before Ramadan). Uniquely, they do this together and at the same time do community service by cleaning the tomb. Based on these phenomena, this study aims to reveal the motives and values of the practice of tomb pilgrimage using the method of phenomenological analysis of Edmund Husserl. The practice of pilgrimage and cleansing of the grave carried out by the Majapura community is part of an awareness of intentionality directed at one behavior that is in accordance with religious advice. From this awareness, the purpose of pilgrimage and tomb clean was addressed to cleanse the soul, remember death (dzikr al-maut) and others, mentioned above. While the transcendental essence that is around it is a sense of caring, compassion, empathy, and sincerity in worship.

This study tries to find out how the understanding and practice carried out by Ustadz Robert (a person who experts in Islamic Studies) about surah (the chapter in Al Quran) that is recited every Friday praying. The results of this study indicate that the surah that is often read by Ustadz Robert when leading Friday prayers is surah al-Jumuah verses 9-11 surah al-Munafiqun verses 9-11. It began when he was still a Santri (Student in Islamic Boarding School) and it was read in (slowly and clearly). Therefore, it made him feel comfortable when reciting the two surahs while leading Friday prayers at the Laboratory of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Mosque. The content contained in these surahs is considered a reminder for Moslem to always do Friday prayers and leave worldly affairs. Likewise, the meaning contained in the Surat al-Munafiqun can be a reminder for pilgrims to always remember Allah and not fall into the luxury of wealth. With this kind of context, the recitation of Surat Al-Jumu'ah and al-Munafiqun at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Mosque is a form of reception in the form of exegesis, aesthetic and functional.

This research explores the historical dimensions and the episteme phenomena in spreading the recitation of the Khamsatun poem in the middle of the Javanese Muslim community in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, this poem has functioned as a means to invoke protection from epidemics in the form of reviving religious rituals in people's social beliefs. Therefore, to find the social meaning of this poem, this research uses the Hans-Georg Gadamer hermeneutic approach in seeing the mediation of community understanding related to the meaning of poetry. This study concludes that Islam responds to various incidents that befall their followers in various ways, one of which is to ask for protection from the plague through prayer in the form of poetry. Lil Khamsatun Poetry is identical as a ritual of Dhikr in the Sha Dhiliyah Tariqah is objectified in the community, so they feel safe and protected from COVID-19. This process shows that the facts about COVID-19 are not enough just to be seen from a rational and health perspective but also it can be seen as a phenomenon of the response of the Muslim community to the epidemic through reviving religion in social life.

This study aims to discover the motives and content of the meaning of symbolic narratives used by scholars in Indonesia to spread and strengthen the teachings of Islam in Indonesia. The use of symbolic narratives has been widely used by early Islamic preachers in Indonesia. The narratives were presented to provide easier understanding to the people of Indonesia by their perceptions of the world. One of the scholars who preserve this missionary pattern is KH Abdul Ghofur. To obtain the meaning of the religious symbols used by the Kiai Ghofur, This study uses the semiotic method of Roland Barthes. The use of symbols in religious narratives carried out by Kiai Ghofur is at the level of connotative meaning. Meaning can be understood by looking at the concepts that are believed by the people associated with these symbols. With this concept, the meaning of the ape-snake symbol indicates Sufistic values in the Islamic tradition. The symbol of the mustard tree is intended to symbolize unity. Whereas, the symbol of boat-aircraft shows the incorporation of traditional and modern nature in the education system in his Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School).

This study aims to seek the connection between Matthew Lipman’s Pragmatism with the “philosophy for children” (P4C) in Malaysia. Matthew Lipman’s pragmatism built and developed “Community of inquiry” (CI) in “Philosophy for Children” (P4C) starting from negative experiences while teaching philosophy to college students in the late ’60s. This research uses a critical hermeneutics method and other critical approaches. This research concludes that the success of P4C successfully becomes part of the solution in the community so it is needed to be developed. P4C is not only a teaching material for children but is also useful as a basic principle in children's moral education. Through the Socratic Method, the children can express opinions and think critically. These abilities are very important in the process of philosophizing. P4C can encourage children to learn to think and make their own decisions without being enslaved by dogmatic thinking or relativism. This ability is very necessary so that children can live in harmony and develop in a pluralistic and democratic society like Malaysia.

This study aims to reveal the concepts of multi-identity in Ahmad Syafii Ma'arif's thoughts which are the foundation of the concept of tolerance and relations between religion and the state. This becomes the more point that will be elaborated in this research to give a differentiation of Syafii Maarif's thoughts with the thoughts of other figures who also make the Qur'an as a foundation, but it does not demand that the state visually carry the concept of an Islamic state. This research uses a literature study and data analysis methods using the hermeneutic approach. This study concludes that Ahmad Syafii Ma'arif consistently applies the moral foundations of Islam in the state by not making Islam as a state visual identity but as a social identity. So that Islamic identity is not needed to be raised. With this concept, religion becomes a source of identity that is united in state identity, namely Pancasila. With this concept, the opposition that often occurs in determining the country's identity can be minimized by emphasizing the multi-identity possessed by the people in Indonesia. This concept can also bridge the conflicts that often arise between Islamists and Nationalists regarding this matter.

This study aims to find a model of human relations with God in the Islamic libraries of Kejawen (Jevenesse value) in Simuh’s view. The Islamic libraries of Kejawen referred by Simuh was literature was written by Javanese Islamic leaders in the early of Islam in Java. The literature contains many Islamic teachings manifested in the language and worldview of the Javanese people. To find this relation, this research uses quantitative methods with literature study research techniques. To achieve the expected analysis, this study also uses the hermeneutic method. This study concludes that Simuh's reading of the Javanese Islamic literature concerning human relations with God has an anthropocentrism style. Humans become the main axis in every concept of Sufism. To achieve the perfection of this relationship, humans first take Laku Batin (inner behavior) so that morality can be formed. This moral implementation leads humans to achieve Kemanggualan (oneness) so that they become perfect human beings. With the concept of anthropocentric Sufism, this study finds its relevance to previous research which states that the Javanese Sufism style has differences with the Islamic Sufism style which is theocentric.
