Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of the metabolism of fat, carbohydrate, and protein due to defectsin insulin secretion, insulin sensitivity or both. In 2017, diabetics in Indonesia has reached 10.3million of 8.5 % prevalence and it was estimated to reach 16 million in 2023. The inhibition of?-glucosidase is thought to be effective in delaying the breakdown of carbohydrates in theintestine and can lower blood glucose levels in diabetic patients. One of the mechanisms ofdiabetes treatment is to inhibit ? -gucosidase. Empirically, senggani leaves commonly used totreat infections, high blood pressure and diabetes. This research aims to obtain an extract fromsenggani leaves (Melastoma malabathricum L.) on the inhibition of the ?-glucosidase andidentify compounds that contained in the sample. The simplisia powder from senggani leaveswas extracted by maceration and reflux techniques using ethanol 96%. The antidiabetic activityessay of senggani leaves was read using a microplate reader at a wavelength of 410 nm. Theresult showed that the ethanol extract of senggani leaves from the maceration technique hadinhibition with IC50 is 879.559 ?g/ml and from reflux techniques with IC50 values of 1061.631?g/ml. Phytochemical constituent in both extract senggani leaves are flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids

Abstract

Hematology examination aims to establish the diagnosis, supporting the early alert system, monitoring treatment, maintaining health, and preventing disease. Hematocrit is a hematological examination with venous blood orcapillary blood. Increased hematocrit value has a diagnostic significance to detect, dengue hemorrhagic fever.Decreased hematocrit is an indicator of anemia, leukemia, or hyperthyroidism.Hematocrit examination can use theautomatic method with a hematology analyzer or microhematocrit with a centrifuge. The examination material canuse venous blood or capillary blood.Through descriptive analytic research, want to know the comparison of venousblood hematocrit values using an automatic hematology analyzer KX.21 and capillary blood using centrifuge. Dataanalysis usesindependent t test. The results showed that the average hematocrit value of capillary blood bymicrohematocrit method 42%, higher than venous blood samples by automatic method, which 41%. T independenttest results obtained p value: 0.383 greater than 0.05 values (p: 0.383> 0.05). There was no difference meanhematocrit values from venous blood by automatic method and capillary blood by microhematocrit method.Bothsample types and methods did not affect the measurement of erythrocyte volume in 100 ml of blood

Abstract

Fasting is not necessary for uric acid level measurement in most of the medical laboratory. However, theminister of health of Republic Indonesiain 2013regulated that the uric acid measurement should be conductedafter 10-12 hours before the blood sampling, indicating the patient should do fasting before the bloodsampling. The issues of fasting and non-fasting for uric acid test is still in debating until now because severalstudies reported that the most of test result of patients who did not do fasting exhibited a higher uric acidlevel compared to the patients who do fasting. The study uses one group pretest-posttestwhere the mainsubject is divided into two groups which are the fasting group and non-fasting group. The samples of thefasting group have done the fasting activity for 10-12 hours before the blood sampling, while the non-fastingsample spontaneous do the blood sampling without doing any fasting. 34 blood samples are testing on thisstudy. The result indicates that non-fasting students have higher uric acid levels compared to the one whodoes fasting. The statistical analysis using Paired t-test also showed that there is a significant difference inthe uric acid level of fasting and non-fasting samples showed by the significance level (2- tailed) of 0,000which is less than the ? value of 0.005 (Sig.< 0,005) with the confidence level of95%.There is a significantdifference in the uric acid level of fasting and non-fasting samples. The results suggest the patient who wantsto do uric acid measurement doing fasting for 10-12 hours

Abstract

The workload is the frequency of activity - average of each - each job within a certain period. Performance(performance) is a result of work achieved in executing tasks - tasks assigned to them based on skills, experience and seriousness as well as time. The performance of nurses is a problem as long as they are notyet aware of the workload that includes the number of patients, the level of dependence of the patient, thetype of activities to be carried out, the average time of nursing actions, assignment system and facilitieswhich he is responsible for properly implemented. The purpose of this study was to see RelationshipBetween Workloads with performance Inpatient Nurse in HarapanBunda Hospital Batam. This type ofresearch is analytic by using "cross-sectional". The population in this study are all nurses in HarapanBundaHospital Batam as 74he sampling technique used was the total population of all nurses in the inpatient unitHarapanBunda Hospital Batam many as 74 people. Data collected through interviews guided by using aquestionnaire and chech list which is then processed by a computerized system and are presented in tabularform distribution and cross table. The result is that the poor performance of nurses as much as 29.3% and17.4% higher workloads There is significant correlation between workload with the performance of nurseswith a p-value 0.027. To further improve the performance of nurses will have to reassess the balancebetween workload, the number of patients and the number of nurses

Abstract

The high mortality rate in hospital is a sign of service quality problems. Therefore, strategies are needed to reduce the death rate, one of them is by detecting the emergence of patients before worsening by applying the Early Warning Scoring System (EWSS), according to the age group. Adult Early Warning Score (AEWS) is a score monitoring tool to identify changes in the condition of adult patients (?15 years) using physiological parameters. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using AEWS on mortality rates. This study used a quantitative approach with one group pre-post-test design. The sampling technique was non probability sampling with a total sampling method. Data was analyzed by paired t-test. The results showed that the mortality rate before using AEWS belonged to the low category with the number of gross deaths 8.8 per 1000 inpatient visit or as many as 21 respondents, while the mortality rate after using AEWS was included in the low category with the number of crude deaths 3.2 per 1000 inpatient visit or as many as 12 respondents. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that p-value = 0.001 (p ? 0.05). These results indicated that there was an effect of using adult early warning scoring (AEWS) on mortality rates in Bali Mandara Hospital.
