Story is the main key why animation is loveable by audiences. This writing will be focusing on the behind reason why the story is important in animation and will be giving some examples the success story of some animation which have a great story to tell. The design methodology focuses on data research, market research and literature book. This writing is a preliminary research because from the author concern, there are not many writings debating whether which part in the development will be focused on to developing some animation projects. This writing hopefully will help people who want to build some animation projects and will guide them to make decision because in order to build some animation project there will be a massive effort to be conducted. Abstract

Television is the most common medium for people to update the latest information around the world, for more than fifty years. Now, the development of television has grown rapidly to present a picture, even to bring fun to watch movies at home. With HDTV technology, consumers can now enjoy more highly detailed images to be enjoyed with family. This article is based on literature study, on printed and electronic references. The higher the TV resolution does not mean that the picture performance will be better. For HD format, there are 720 vertical lines; meanwhile for full HD there are 1080 vertical lines. TV in low resolution perhaps having good picture quality, but not all the luxury could be enjoyed in details like in HD or full HD format.

Abstract

Comic has been people’s favorite since 1930. As the growth of years and technology, the demands in designing comic were also increasing. To fulfill the demands, comic authors spent their times to draw so that they have no time to discover other element besides technical. Therefore, it is important if the comic author helped by 3D technology to accelerate technical process so that the comic authors will get extra time to develop other elements like concept and story. Data is gathered from interviews with both semi-professional and professional comic authors who are having problems being solved. Solving problems are conducted by using 3D software to draw picture of distorted space. And then two semi-professional comic authors will try to draw distorted space in tracing the picture from 3D software to see how many times needed to draw hard part traditionally.

Abstract

The core design concept of the 4/3 (Four Thirds) system is to facilitate optimization of the size, performance, of digital cameras and lenses. In addition, a standardized lens mount allows photographers to freely combine interchangeable lenses and cameras from different manufacturers. This is the key feature of the Four Thirds system, the one that makes it possible to explore the full potential of digital photography. The purpose of this research to give description and knowledge about the existence of a new system in digital photography. In the end, this article will be helpful to find out the benefits and disadvantages in using this system and also as comparison with other systems in digital photography.

Abstract

Some concepts from theoretical schools such as semiology, structuralism and post-structuralism are referenced in today’s discussions of design. Its language-ladeness which makes it appeals initially as pertinent to visual communication. Yet under the alleged reason of cross-disciplinary, design study often just wants to pick up one or two concepts without sufficient willingness to grasp their primer. It is very much contradictory since sheer picking up is an anti-intellectual attitude, whereas all forms of study are intellectual in character. Great scholar Alfred North Whitehead once complained those who quoted him in bits and pieces, as did not understand what is meant by his theory. It is true that design has a cross-disciplinary character. But since design is neither philosophy nor social science, it demands a study of their primer with respect (not oversimplifying), within the spirit of liberal arts. Hence this article does not intend to give 'structuralist' account of design; instead it is a brief study into primer of semiology, structuralism and post-structuralism. Its significance for design would be reflected afterwards.

Abstract

Building, which consists of many building materials arranged in following the designer’s patter, could be stood and built in many scale, time and place. Development of the shape in building design has been changed from time to time as in time development and human ability that keeps increasing. Many buildings came from human civilization. Knowledge, social community and environment circumstances and also building material sources have huge role in developing building shapes. How far the existance of the building, it becomes retrieval benchmark in human civilization through building material usage approach in each age.

Abstract

Nowadays, there are developing theories in social psychology. Two of them are activity and social dilemma theory. Unfortunately, Indonesia has less expertise in specific theoretical social psychology. The article is purposed to give analysis for the two theories including its history, its development today, and also its research critical and prospect in the future. This description could help academics and practitioners to build and develop best theories (as well as practice) in their own environment. Based on the critical analysis, it could be concluded that along with their advantages and limits, both activity and social dilemma theory are prospective in triggering researches especially in Indonesia, where there are not much research using those theories.
