Abstract

Until today, there is still controversy whether emotional Internet infidelity or cheating is something that can be tolerated. Existing views are diverse, influenced by geographical factors, cultural and ideological backgrounds, as well as biological theory. This present study initially suggested that the higher the relationship flourishing, the higher the tolerance for the infidelity. In an era where monogamous relationships are dynamized by the multiplication of relationship modes through online social networks, this study becomes increasingly urgent, i.e. to recommend a variable capable of providing a buffering effect to the deleterious effect of the infidelity. The study used correlational design. As much as 210 participants (55 males, 155 females, Mage=37.89 years old, SDage=10.870 years) were recruited in the Greater Area of Jakarta, Indonesia to fill out the Relationship Flourishing Scale and Internet Infidelity Tolerance-Emotional Infidelity Subscale. This study found that relationship flourishing and emotional Internet infidelity are negatively correlated (Spearman’s Rho=-0.172, p<0.05) and there is a moderating role of sex (coeff.=0.3481, p<0.05). That is, those with higher relationship flourishing would have a higher intolerance, especially among men. Such intolerance could lead to marital dissatisfaction and, at worst, divorce. The results of this study have implications for (1) an evaluation of psychometric dimensions of the Relationship Flourishing Scale, (2) the need of proposing moderating variables to be integrated into the correlational model between relationship flourishing and the infidelity, as well as (3) online applications development in detecting and managing the Internet infidelity.

Abstract

Recent developments and widespread in wireless sensor network have led to many routing protocols, many of these protocols consider the efficiency of energy as the ultimate factor to maximize the WSN lifetime. The quality of Service (QoS) requirements for different applications of wireless sensor networks has posed additional challenges. Imaging and data transmission needs both QoS aware routing and energy to ensure the efficient use of sensors. In this paper, we propose an Efficient, Energy-Aware, Least Cost, (ECQSR) quality of service routing protocol for sensor networks which can run efficiently with best-effort traffic processing. The protocol aims to maximize the lifetime of the network out of balancing energy consumption across multiple nodes, by using the concept of service differentiation, finding lower cost by finding the shortest path using nearest neighbor algorithm (NN), also put certain constraints on the delay of the path for real-time data from where link cost that captures energy nodes reserve, energy of the transmission, error rate and other parameters. The results show that the proposed protocol improves the network lifetime and low power consumption.

Abstract

This paper presents a compact design of an ultra wide band bandpass filters with a notch band using interdigital structure. The aim of the design is to reduce the size of filter, reduce the complexity of the design, and improve the performance of filter response. The proposed filter comprises of a rectangular resonator sandwiched between Interdigital structures, with rectangular slot as defected microstrip structure at the input and output ports. This design has been used for the first time to achieve the above aim. The advantage with this design is that, it does not use any via or defected ground structure. The insertion loss of proposed filter, in passband between 3.1 GHz to 10.8 GHz, is less than 0.7dB, and for the notched band it is 21.5 dB centred at 7.9 GHz. The proposed filter is fabricated, tested and compared with simulated results. The proposed design was small in size with less complexity, and shows performance better than the other designs available in the literatures at this dimension.

Abstract

In a wireless cooperative network, system reliability can be improved by introducing network coding (NC) for transmitting data packets from user to destination through relay nodes. At the destination, a decoding strategy is required to recover the original data packets. The use of NC in cooperative networks has been intensively studied in previous works in terms of the conventional model for two users and a single relay in a network. However, the network model cannot act as a virtual multiple-input multiple-output system, and a multi-user multi-relay network model could be used in a real system. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved model of two network decoding strategies, selection with soft combining (SSC) and selection with hard combining (SHC), for multi-user multi-relay cooperative networks. Users are classified based on their channel conditions, with better signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio sources being viewed as strong users, and others as weak or moderate users in the decoding strategies. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, we first derive the bit error probability expressions for each strategy as a function of SNR and then evaluate the performance using numerical simulation for a Rayleigh fading channel. Simulation results show that SSC outperforms SHC. Furthermore, the improvement in network performance is achieved either by having a higher modulation level or using incremental relaying as the signal reception method at the destination.

Abstract

In most mechanized postal systems, envelopes are scanned based on the postal standard using mechanical instruments. In the standard format, the image of envelopes lacks tilts, lines are along the horizontal axis and words are placed in a correct and non-oblique manner. In this article a new algorithm for rotating, segmentation and Tenderizing Letters for standardizing and increasing the quality of an envelope has been presented, which can be used in all text identification systems as three successful pre-processing algorithms. In the algorithm proposed, letters with any forms and tilts during scanning were rotated and standardized by applying a simple two-step algorithm based on what was written on the envelope without requiring the calculation of tilt angle. After standardization, the main regions of the image were specified using the histogram information. Then, in a simple algorithm, the candidate points from the pixels related to the text on the envelope were selected and quality improvement and tenderization were done on the main regions of the image. The advantaged of the proposed algorithm included No need for additional mechanical equipment, less calculation, simplicity and consideration of the structure of words on the envelope in all preprocessing phases.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i3.342

Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) is one of the most important sources of renewable energy in the world. Its current efficiency could be increased up to 60% by using dual axes solar tracker, which maximise PV exposure to sun. The most important component in dual axes solar tracker is sensing location of the sun. Four light dependent resistors (LDR) are used as the sensors, connected to potentiometers to increase their accuracy. Arduino UNO is used as the controller to control two stepper motors. Two experiments have been carried out, where the tolerance of the LDR has been found to be 0.05V and the calibration of the four LDRs to have the error of 0.03V. Both experiments proved the capability of LDR for dual axes solar tracker and potentiometer to increase their accuracy.

Abstract

This paper presents about improving stability of the system which can be possible with new FACTS device with more convenient. FACTS devices come under the influence of power electronics equipment. Distributed Power Flow Controller is a FACTS device used for damping low frequency oscillation with new controlling approach. It is valid for a wide range of the operating condition. In this work explain the basic model and its steady state operation, mathematical analysis injection of current control model of the DPFC. Using damping controller used in DPFC facts device as input to implement the task of power oscillation damping .Here this work had a brief study on damping, terminal voltage and excitation voltage at different load conditions, simulation results demonstrate damping low frequency oscillation at nominal, light and heavy loading conditions

Abstract

Speech, is the most powerful way of communication with which human beings express their thoughts and feelings through different languages. The features of speech differs with each language. However, even while communicating in the same language, the pace and the dialect varies with each person. This creates difficulty in understanding the conveyed message for some people. Sometimes lengthy speeches are also quite difficult to follow due to reasons such as different pronunciation, pace and so on.   Speech recognition which is an inter disciplinary field of computational linguistics aids in developing technologies that empowers the recognition and translation of speech into text. Text summarization extracts the utmost important information from a source which is a text and provides the adequate summary of the same. The research work presented in this paper describes an easy and effective method for speech recognition. The speech is converted to the corresponding text and produces summarized text. This has various applications like lecture notes creation, summarizing catalogues for lengthy documents and so on. Extensive experimentation is performed to validate the efficiency of the proposed method

Abstract

Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) technology is a promising development in the field of aerobic wastewater treatment system. Aerobic granulation usually happened in sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) system. Most available models for the system are structurally complex with the nonlinearity and uncertainty of the system makes it hard to predict. A reliable model of AGS is essential in order to provide a tool for predicting its performance. This paper proposes a dynamic neural network approach to predict the dynamic behavior of aerobic granular sludge SBRs. The developed model will be applied to predict the performance of AGS in terms of the removal of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The simulation uses the experimental data obtained from the sequencing batch reactor under three different conditions of temperature (30˚C, 40˚C and 50˚C). The overall results indicated that the dynamic of aerobic granular sludge SBR can be successfully estimated using dynamic neural network model, particularly at high temperature.
