Time-delay single and multi layer models were developed for predicting shelf life of processed cheese stored at 30oC. Processed cheese is very nutritious dairy product, rich in milk proteins and milk fat. For developing computational neuroscience models,experimental data relating to body & texture, aroma & flavour, moisture, free fatty acids were taken as input variables, while sensory score as output variable. Mean Square Error, Root Mean Square Error, Coefficient of determination and Nash - Sutcliffo Coefficient were applied in order to compare the prediction performance of the developed computational models. The results of the study established excellent correlation between experimental data and the predicted values, with a high determination coefficient. From the study it was concluded that artificial neural expert time-delay models are good for predicting the shelf life of processed cheese.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i3.353

Delays in the user acceptance of information technology (IT) service projects in Korea have occurred frequently due to various risk factors. User acceptance delays may hinder the achievement of the client’s project objectives and cause schedule delays or cost overruns. Furthermore, the client may impose a delay charge and claim for additional damages, causing serious disputes between buyer and supplier. The main causes of user acceptance delays are unclear user requirements, changes in user requirements, poor-quality development outputs, excessive functional and non-functional errors, lack of user involvement, unclear user roles and responsibilities, and unclear criteria of user acceptance test.We help foster the timely completion of user acceptance by proposing a method of identifying the risk factors in user acceptance delay and creating a project management plan to weed out the identified risks. We propose a guideline for an IT service management plan that weeds out or lowers the risk factors well in advance. To validate the guideline’s utility, we apply it to IT service projects. The results show that the guideline is effective in identifying and removing risk factors affecting delays in the user acceptance of IT service projects.

A study on plug-in hybrid electric recreational boat (PHERB) powertrain with a special energy management strategy modeling and analysis was presented in this paper. Firstly, the boat components are sized to meet the expected power and energy requirements through a power flow analysis. Then, the model is tested numerically in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment using the existing driving cycle. The accuracy of the model is verified by a comparison of the component between the simulation results from PHERB and advanced vehicle simulator (ADVISOR) software. The simulation results of component, fuel economy and emission of PHERB and hybrid electric vehicle models in ADVISOR are compared.

Localisation technologies have always remained in the limelight of positioning-science as researchers have ever shown keen interest to know the exact positions of things. Ultrasonic sensors are mainly used for localisation of mobile robots since they provide high accuracy. This paper presents Taylor Series Method in Time Difference of Arrival approach using ultrasonic sensors.Signals are send from the sensors periodically.The time difference of arrival of signals from the ultrasonic sensors is used by the receiver unit to estimate the location of the mobile unit. The equations formed by using Time Difference of Approach are solved using Taylor Series Method. Taylor Series Method provides a more accurate result since they give less error compared to other methods and they ignore the measurement errors.

This paper presents a preliminary result of ongoing research on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for cooperative mapping to support a large-scale urban city mapping, in Malang, Indonesia. A small UAV can carry an embedded camera which can continuously take pictures of landscapes. A convenient way of monitoring landscape changes might be through accessing a sequence of images. However, since the camera’s field of view is always smaller than human eye’s field of view, the need to combine aerial pictures into a single mosaic is eminent. Through mosaics, a more complete view of the scene can be accessed and analyzed. A semi-automated generation of mosaics is investigated using a photogrammetric approach, namely a perspective projection which is based on collinearity condition. This paper reviews the general projection model based on collinearity condition and uses that to determine a common projective plane from images. The overlapped points for each RGB channel are interpolated onto that of orthographic plane to generate mosaics. An initial attempt shows a promising result.

The arm robot manipulator is suitable for substituting humans working in tomato plantation to ensure tomatoes are handled efficiently. The best design for this robot is four links with robust flexibility in x, y, and z-coordinates axis. Inverse kinematics and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) application are for precise and smooth motion. Inverse kinematics designs the most efficient position and motion of the arm robot by adjusting mechanical parameters. The FLC utilizes data input from the sensors to set the right position and motion of the end-effector. The predicted parameters are compared with experimental results to show the effectiveness of the proposed design and method. The position errors (in x, y, and z-axis) are 0.1%, 0.1%, and 0.04%. The rotation errors of each robot links (θ1, θ2, and θ3) are 0%, 0.7% and 0.3%. The FLC provides the suitable angle of the servo motor (θ4) responsible in gripper motion, and the experimental results correspond to FLC’s rules-based as the input to the gripper motion system. This setup is essential to avoid excessive force or miss-placed position that can damage tomatoes. The arm robot manipulator discussed in this study is a pick and place robot to move the harvested tomatoes to a packing system.

This paper presents shape and level analysis using local standard deviation and Hough transform technique to detect the shape and level of the bottle.A 155 sample images are used as a test product to detect shape and level. Local standard deviation is used contrast gain technique to segment the shape of the bottle by enhancing the contrast of the image. The ratio of the area is calculated from the extent parameter. The maximum and minimum water level is created by using Hough transform technique to identify the level of the water. Decision tree is applied to classify the shape and level of the bottle either good or defect condition. From experimental result, 97% and 93% accuracy of shape and level is achieved which shows that the proposed analysis technique is potential to be applied for beverages product inspection system.

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), a path vector routing protocol, is a widespread exterior gateway protocol (EGP) in the internet. Extensive deployment of the new technologies in internet, protocols need to have continuous improvements in its behavior and operations. New routing technologies conserve a top level of service availability. Hence, due to topological changes, BGP needs to achieve a fast network convergence. Now a days size of the network growing very rapidly. To maintain the high scalability in the network BGP needs to avoid instability. The instability and failures may cause the network into an unstable state, which significantly increases the network convergence time. This paper summarizes the various approaches like BGP policies, instability, and fault detection etc. to improve the convergence time of BGP.

Synchronization is an essential process and one of the first tasks of the receiver in case of coherent communications as well synchronous digital data transfer. The phase lock loop (PLL), which employs the error tracking technique, has been a very popular way to implement this synchronizer since the early 1930s. A phenomenon called cycle slip occurs when the number of cycles present in the transmitted carrier (clock) differs from that of the recovered carrier (clock) at the receiver. The cycle slip can be very detrimental to some applications such as frequency modulated communications systems (FSK, multi-carrier etc.), burst digital data transfer, training pulse retrieval, and so on. This paper presents the control system for a solar cell orientation device which follows the sun in real time during daytime.
