Abstract

Implementing appropriate strategies in learning so that students acquire 21st century skills is an important thing for teachers to do. These skills will equip students to adapt to the needs of their era. One of the skills is critical thinking. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, all educational institutions were encouraged to carry out online learning to prevent massive transmission of the corona virus. In science learning, it emphasizes students to learn independently by providing clear instructions from the teachers to practice critical thinking. One of the media that can bridge the needs of students to learn independently in practicing critical thinking is Schoology. The purpose of this research was to find out the influence of schoology virtual science-based learning in improving critical thinking of students. The study was a quasi-experimental design. The sample of this research were 64 students taken through purposive sampling. The improvement of students' critical thinking skills was identified from the essay test given. The results showed that the size impact (d) reached high category (1.85). It means that the schoology virtual science-based learning have a high influence in improving students' critical thinking skill. Furthermore, the t-test showed a sig value. 0.000 and N-Gain in the experimental class reached 0.50 while the control class reached 0.27. It indicates that the implementation of schoology virtual science-based learning can improve students' critical thinking skill.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is one aspect of ability in facing the challenges of the 21st century. Efforts to train students 'scientific literacy skills include the use of teaching materials that can support students' scientific literacy skills in the form of STEM-based E-modules.. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the use of STEM-based E-modules on learning outcomes and the ability of student science literacy. This research is an experimental research design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling method with a total of 32 students. based on research results, the average student learning outcomes obtained a value of 70.9. The results of the N-Gain analysis with the medium category show that the STEM-based E-module is effective for improving students' scientific literacy skills.. The results of the analysis with the Paired Sample T-test showed that the probability value (sig) 0.000 <0.05 means that there is a difference in the value of scientific literacy between before and after using the STEM-based E-Module. Furthermore, for each aspect of scientific literacy it also shows an increase, namely science as the body of knowledge, science as a way to investigate, science as a way to think and the interaction between science, technology and society.. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of STEM-based E-Module for environmental pollution material is effective in improving student learning outcomes and scientific literacy skills of grade VII students at the SMP / MTs level.

Abstract

This study aims at developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) oriented teaching materials on The Object Motion, testing the validity and analyzing the readability of the teaching materials that are developed. The method used in this research was Research and Development (R&D). The teaching materials developed in this study are STEM oriented by integrating the elements of science, technology, engineering design, and mathematics in a whole integration on The Object Motion materials. The teaching materials developed were validated by some experts to collect information related to the accuracy of the content and the validity of the teaching materials, and were also tested for their readability. The instrument in this study was a validation sheets to test the validity and a gap-filling test to analyze the readability of the teaching materials using descriptive analysis techniques. This research resulted in (1) STEM-oriented teaching materials having the characteristics of elements of science, technology, engineering and mathematics presented in a complete coherence, (2) the average validation score given by the experts was 85.68% in the very good validation category, and it was emphasized with the results of the Aiken's V test with the acquisition of Aiken's V validation coefficient of 1.14 in the valid category, (3) the acquisition of an average readability score of 85.18% in the category of easy-to-understand teaching materials. Based on these results, STEM-oriented teaching materials on Object Motion are suitable to use in the learning process of Science Courses in class VIII.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important skills in the 21st century, therefore their attainment needs to be measured to determine future steps in the learning process so that they can be improved. This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of students after learning with Project Based Learning (PjBL) integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM). This research was conducted with a mix-method approach and a concurrent triangulation strategy. Data collection uses test essay to measure aspects of critical thinking skills including aspects of elementary clarification, basic support, inference, adavanced clarification, and aspect strategy and tactics. Furthermore, the results were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that the achievement of each aspect of critical thinking skills showed variations. The aspect of elementary clarification score 71.01 in high category, basic support score 72.54 in high category, the inference score 74.65 in high category, adavanced clarification score 58.49 in moderate category, and the aspect of strategy and tactics scored 82.83 in very high category. These results indicate the average critical thinking skills of students in PjBL STEM learning environmental change material on high category.

Abstract

The seed plant e-book is an online learning solution. Efforts to improve the quality of learning resources for plantae material, mostly seed plants, are carried out by developing interactive e-books to support online learning. The interactive e-book is designed using a scientific and contextual approach. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the interactive e-book on seed plants with a scientific and contextual approach to the learning outcomes of students. This research method is an experiment to measure the effectiveness of using e-books with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group research design to measure learning outcomes. The average of students' learning outcomes in the cognitive aspect is 90.41. The result of the N-Gain calculation of the average learning result or the concept mastery ability test of 0. 72 is included in the high category. Interactive e-books are proven to be effective in improving cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes. The use of e-books in online learning encourages student-centered learning because, in the learning process, students are more active and do not depend on the teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze profile of students' scientific literacy in immune system material seen by aspects of competence (science process), content (knowledge), and context (application) through problem-based learning (PBL). This study used an experimental method, namely one shot case study design. The population used in this study is class XI SMAN 1 Palimanan with a research sample of class XI MIPA 1,2,3,6 amount of 134 students. Instrument used a reasoning multiple choice test sheet to measure students' scientific literacy profiles and interview sheet to add data the results of the scientific literacy test. Sub-material used the concept of immune system material and its application. The results showed that contained on 4 students (2.99%) in very high category of scientific literacy, 22 students in high category (16.42%), 63 students in medium category (47.01%), 18 students in low category ( 13.44%) and 27 students in very low category (20.14%). Indicators explaining scientific phenomena can be achieved well with the number of students 45 and the proportion of achievement is 33.58%; scientific scientific survey can be achieved well with the number of students 53 and the proportion of achievement is 39.55% .; interpret data and scientific evidence well with the number of students 49 and the proportion of achievement is 36.57%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students' scientific literacy is in the medium group.

Abstract

The development of Al-Qur'an and Hadith integrated guided inquiry student worksheets to improve students’ learning outcomes and religious character was carried out. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Al-Qur'an and Hadith integrated guided inquiry student worksheets in Askhabul Kahfi Junior High School Semarang in the academic year 2020/2021. In this study used research and development method, then the selected class was used for research, i.e class VII D as the control class and class VII B as the experimental class, involving 32 students in the experimental class and 32 students in the control class. The normality test analysis showed that the the data for both classes were normally distributed. The calculation of the similarity test for the both posttest data variances of the two classes had the same variance. The average posttest score of the control class was 79.06 and the experimental class was 82.08. The results of the t-test analysis showed a significant difference in the mean between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the results of the data analysis on the religious character of the students, the average value of the religious aspects in the experimental class had score of 3.59 in the very good category, and the control class had score of 3.27 in the good category, so it can be concluded that the experimental class has better religious character than the control class.

Abstract

This development research aimd to: (1) Develop simple thermochemical teaching aids (2) Practical activities with the concept of Green chemistry that were environmentally friendly and safe to use (3) Obtain teacher responses to thermochemical teaching aids with Green chemistry as an alternative to the limited pre-practicum facilities. The development model used in this research was the 4-D model by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel which had been modified from four stages to three stages, namely: (1) Define (2) Design and (3) Develop (development). The stages carried out include (1) preliminary studies (2) product development and (3) product testing. The results of the preliminary study indicated that the development of teaching aids as a substitute for practicum activities was needed due to the limited existing facilities and infrastructure. Also, because thermochemical material had a high level of understanding and the abstractness of the concept, it was necessary to carry out practicum activities. The use and development of calorimetry props was an alternative in the implementation of thermochemical material practicum activities and by utilizing waste, it was possible to present simple calorimetry props that were environmentally friendly and safe to use. The results of product development in the form of props obtained the validity of the material with the results of 0.89 and the validity of the media with the results of 0.90, therefore the validation results of the props were categorized as valid. The practicality of the teaching aids was Green chemistry 88%, the result shows that the teaching aids developed were very practical so that these props were suitable for practicum. While the results of the teacher's response to the teaching aids with an overall average of 3.75 (maximum score of 4), based on these results indicate that the overall response of students to the teaching aids was very good.

Abstract

The Mangrove Morosari Demak was once a densely populated area, but due to the abrasion process of the Java Sea, the area was eventually submerged. This condition affects the survival of Gastropods and Bivalves. This study aims to develop an e-booklet based on the research of Gastropods and Bivalves’ Diversity in the Mangrove Morosari Demak. The e-booklet is named GAVIAMORIDA which stands for Gastropods and Bivalves in the Mangrove Morosari Demak. This development research uses the ADDIE method with 5 stages: Alanyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. This research resulted a kind of e-booklet “GAVIAMORIDA” with detailed information about 11 types of Gastropods and 1 Bivalves which found in the Mangrove Morosari Demak. The average value of diversity index (H ') is 2.116 (moderate), evenness index (E) is 0.912 (high), and dominance index (C) is 0.131 (stable). The results of the validation from two kinds validators (experts and users) were 85.61% which were classified as "very valid" and "Feasible to produce with revisions according to suggestions". The results of the effectiveness of the GAVIAMORIDA e-booklet showed a high N-Gain value of 0.73. The conclusion of this study is the GAVIAMORIDA e-booklet feasible and effective as an alternative source of learning for high school students.

Abstract

Learning at SMA N 1 Wonotunggal, Batang Regency on the Plantae subject has not used learning resources in the form of taxonomy garden to observe plant characteristics directly. This study aims to analyze the validity, measure the effectiveness, and describe the practicality of plantae taxonomy garden as a contextual learning resource of plant subject. This study was designed using Research and Development approach and ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model which was tested on 30 students. The results showed (1) the validity of the plantae taxonomy garden is valid with an average score of 77.22%; (2) cognitive learning outcomes based on the N-Gain index of 0.76 which is in the high category and means very good in students' science process skills training with an average assessment score of 86.33%; (3) the response to the use of plantae taxonomy garden by students was 92.13% and teachers 93.18%. These results indicate that the plantae taxonomy garden is a valid resource of contextual learning, effectively improves learning outcomes, able to train students' science process skills, and practically used in learning.
