Abstract

The competence of plantae material is grouping plants' characteristics into divisions and linking their roles in life. This study aims to test the validity and effectiveness of the encyclopedia media for medicinal plants in Berastagi and Desa Pantai Labu, North Sumatra. Research methods and development of medicinal plants encyclopedia using the model analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The medicinal plants' encyclopedia was developed from the plant exploration research results, which were then validated and readability tests. The trial was conducted at SMA N 16 Medan using one control class (without an encyclopedia) and one experiment class (using an encyclopedia and textbooks). The exploration and identification of medicinal plant species in Berastagi and Pantai Labu Village found 30 species of medicinal plants belonging to 17 families. The characteristics of the encyclopedia of medicinal plants include images in the encyclopedia from the research results in the form of identification and inclusion of scientific names, local names, and the benefits of medicinal plants. The validation of media experts is 98%, and material experts are 95% with very valid criteria. The media readability test is 90.50% with easy-to-understand standards. The media's effectiveness in the cognitive aspects of the experiment class was higher than the control class, namely by 90% with very effective criteria. Classical mastery of the experiment class's psychomotor aspects and affective aspects was 100% with very effective criteria.

Abstract

The learning of integrated science should be supported by several things including the existence of Learning Media. The reality is that at MTs Putera Sunniyyah Selo, there are not many interesting learning media found. Even though the learning media is very important for the realization of student interest and learning outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary to develop Pop Up Book as a Learning Media. The purpose of this research is to develop Pop Up Book as learning media material on the interaction of living things with the environment, its validity and effectiveness as a learning media, and to find out how much student interest in using of Pop Up Books as a learning media. The method of research is use Research and Development (R&D). The validity test was carried out by media experts and material experts using a questionnaire. The effectiveness of learning media was measured based on the N-Gain value indicator from the pretest-posttest results, as well as the teacher and student response questionnaire scores. Student learning interest is measured based on the questionnaire score of student learning interest. The test of the effectiveness of learning media was carried out at MTs Putera Sunniyyah Selo, Tawangharjo District, Grobogan Regency, in grade VII. The results showed that the validation score of the media expert reached 88.19%, while the validation score of the material expert validation reached 90.69% with an average of 89.44%, which means that the learning media could be elassified valid. The results of the analysis of the effectiveness of the media based on the N-Gain value were 0.8, which means that the increase in the pretest posttest could be classified as high criteria. The scores for the questionnaire responses from teachers and students were 92.50% and 86.46%, both of which were very effective. The percentage of interest in learning reached 90.09% with very good criteria. Based on these indicators, it can be concluded that the Pop Up Book as a Learning Media is declared valid by media and material experts, is effectively used in learning and is able to generate interest in learning at MTs Putera Sunniyyah Selo in the very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the SETS-based environmental pollution module with Islamic values ​​in improving students' scientific literacy. This type of research is research and development (R&D) that uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects to test the developed module were 39 students and three expert lecturers consisting of science material experts, Islamic religious material experts, and media experts. The research instruments were expert validation questionnaires, legibility questionnaires, gaps test questions, and scientific literacy test questions. The expert validation data analysis showed the average score on the feasibility aspects, which were considered very valid. The readability questionnaire analysis describes the module as having excellent readability. This result is in line with the results of the gap test analysis that the module is easy for students to understand. The N-gain values ​​for the three aspects of scientific literacy are 0.46, 0.45, and 0.38 in the medium category, while the other element is 0.26 in the low class. Based on the analysis results, the environmental pollution module SETS-based with Islamic values ​​was very suitable for learning. It was effective in improving three aspects of scientific literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the plants species resources and the validity of Module according to the material experts, media experts, and teacher experts, to analyze the practicality, as well as the effectiveness of learning outcomes. This research used the R&D method. This research was conducted using the ADDIE method which was conducted at Islamic High School of Baitussalam involving 2 classes with 62 students in total. Descriptive data analysis was used. The results of the research on biodiversity in the Kreo Cave area which included the levels of genes, species, and ecosystems, found the results of each of the three levels of biodiversity totaling 24 types of plants which are the gene level 2 species, at the species level 7 species and at the ecosystem level at 15 species. The Module of plant species resources in the Kreo Cave area is theoretically feasible by means of validation sheets for material experts, media experts, and teacher experts with respective scores of 76%, 80%, and 81%, or are in the valid category. Student responses to the Module as a learning resource indicate that the Module is very valid. This is proven from the results of small-scale trials that reach an average value of 72% or are in good criteria. Student learning outcomes assessed during the learning process using Modules showed very good results. This is proven by the increase in students' cognitive from an average of 44.18 to 79.6..

Abstract

During the current pandemic, the utilization of technology is needed in teaching and learning activities. It supports the emergence of Android-based learning innovations. Likewise, biology learning is accompanied by contextual learning related to everyday life. This study aimed to develop learning materials based on contextual teaching-learning and analyze the validity of learning media and cognitive understanding. This research used the 4-D model development method by Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The subjects were media experts and material experts, while the product's effectiveness was tested on 56 students of class XI MIPA at SMAN 1 Semaka. The results showed that the validation scores of material experts and media experts were 92.39% and 92.61%, respectively, with very valid criteria. Analysis of students' cognitive understanding showed high criteria with an average N-gain value of 0.70 (high criterion). Based on the research analysis results, it can be concluded that learning media mobile learning based on contextual teaching-learning have been valid and effectively used as a learning resource for high school students.

Abstract

The thing that biology teachers must pay attention to in educating students to be able to think at higher-order is the mastery of the teachers' knowledge in biology material, the teachers' higher-order thinking skills, and their ability to develop HOTS in the learning process. When the teachers possess them, the teacher can create and develop an effective HOTS learning class. The purpose of this study was to analyse the ability of knowledge (factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive), higher-order thinking (analysing, evaluating, and creating), and activities to design HOTS-oriented evaluations for Madrasah Aliyah teachers in Pati Regency. This study uses a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanation method. The research population includes members of the MA Biology MGMP in Pati Regency, totalling 35 people. The results showed that 1) MA teachers in Pati Regency had high-level knowledge and thinking skills in ecosystem concepts in the sufficient category, and 2) the ability to compile a HOTS-oriented biology learning evaluation was in a good category.

Abstract

The learning model that combines nash (al-Quran and hadith) with Plantae subjects was developed by the teacher to train integrative thinking’s students. This research was aimed to develop a Plantae learning model accompanied by nash (Plantaenash) oriented to scientific literacy to foster students' integrative thinking skills. Integrative thinking skilis in the form of the ability to apply knowledge from various disciplines and contexts into real situations and the ability to analyze. This research method is Research and Development (R & D). The learning model was developed on the basis of needs analysis and particular literature reviews. The research product is a learning model with a teacher's guide sheet. Validity of the products was assessed by experts and teachers with an average score of 85.93% which was classified as "very valid". The results of the effectiveness of the learning model showed a moderate N-Gain value, namely 0.60. The results showed that the Plantae learning model accompanied by nash (Plantaenash) oriented to scientific literacy to foster students 'integrative thinking skills was very valid and effective to use to foster students' integrative thinking skills.

Abstract

Soft skills and entrepreneurial interest are kinds of skills that must be owned by the students to face Indonesian demographic peak bonus (2020-2035). The objective of this research was to analyze the students’ soft skills improvement, entrepreneurial interest and learning outcomes by STEM and bioentrepreneurship oriented project learning model implementation. The method of this research used quasi experimental design with the form one group pretest and post test design. The subjects of this research was tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Wedung with the total students was 64. The instruments used were questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was used to measure the students’ soft skills and entrepreneurial interest meanwhile the test was used to measure the studens’ learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used criteria standard and N-gain. Criteria standard was to measure the soft skills and entrepreneurial interest meanwhile the N-gain was used to measure the improvement of learning outcomes. The result of the research found that average percentage score of students’ soft skills of X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 2 in high category, it was 71,19% meanwhile percentage score of entrepreneurial interest in category of high enough, it was 60%. The average of index gain the students of experiment class was 0,6382 it meant experiment class had high improvement of learning outcomes. It could be concluded that the implementation of STEM and bioentrepreneurship oriented project learning model could improve soft skills, entrepreneurial interest and learning outcomes of tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Wedung Kabupaten Demak.

Abstract

Nowadays scientific literacy is a concern in the world of education. Various efforts have been made by the Government to improve students' scientific literacy. Efforts are made by changing the current curriculum. However, this has not been followed by the availability of assessment instruments or evaluation tools used to measure students' scientific literacy. The results of observations carried out show that currently the evaluation tool used is only to measure students’ knowledge. This study aims to develop an evaluation tool based on aspects of scientific literacy competence on the theme of the solar system. This study also aims to determine the scientific literacy profile of students through Item Response Theory (IRT) analysis. The research was conducted with a sample of 256 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Salatiga. IRT analysis using the BILOG MG computer program with a 2-parameter logistic model (2-PL). The results of the item analysis showed that of the 30 items, there was one item (item 25) that had a minus biserial correlation value, so item 25 that no calculations for the next phase. From the analysis of the difficulty level index, 86% of the items have a good difficulty index and all items have a good differentiation of problem index. The results of the students' abilities showed that the average obtained was -0.0143. The mean ability with a minus value indicates that most of the students have low abilities.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected education worldwide, and online learning is a solution to keep learning activities going. Learning in Indonesia also applies online learning by utilizing smartphones and the internet. The current education curriculum uses Education Technology (edutech), so innovation is needed in developing learning media, one of which is an Android learning application in the form of a Virtual Planetarium Observatory. The research objectives are (1) to analyze the validity of the Virtual Planetarium Observatory, (2) to analyze the feasibility of the Virtual Planetarium Observatory (3) to analyze the effectiveness of the Virtual Planetarium Observatory. This research is a research and development (R&D) research design pretest-posttest control group design with the research subjects of class VII students of MTs Al Hadi Girikusuma Mranggen Demak. The validation results of media experts and media validity experts are very valid, with 93%. The feasibility of the teacher's response and the student's response to the media is very feasible, with a percentage of 86%. The media's effectiveness is pretty effective in increasing student learning outcomes with a rate of 72%. Based on the N-Gain test, the experimental class was 0.72 in the high category, while the control class was in the middle category at 0.58. The significance of the effectiveness based on the t-test with a value of Sig 0.028 < 0.05 means a significant difference between before and after using the Virtual Planetarium Observatory on improving student learning outcomes. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that the Virtual Planetarium Observatory can improve student learning outcomes on solar system material.
