Abstract

In the 21st century, the development of science and technology is increasing rapidly, especially in the field of education. To prepare for these developments, students must be equipped with skills that support the use of technology and scientific literacy skills. The importance of scientific literacy skills in science learning is motivated by the results of the 2015 PISA test. The purpose of this study was to test the feasibility of STEM-based e-modules, analyze the effectiveness and profile of scientific literacy skills after using STEM-based e-modules. This research includes Research and Development (R&D) research from Borg & Gall in Sugiyono which has been modified without widespread dissemination. The data analysis technique used in this study includes descriptive data analysis related to the feasibility and profile of students' scientific literacy abilities, while the N-gain test is used to determine the effectiveness of the product. The results showed (1) the STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) e-module that was developed had very feasible criteria regarding aspects of content, presentation, and language (2) the results of the student's scientific literacy assessment showed an increase in the N-gain value with high criteria. (3) the profile of students' scientific literacy abilities which includes the process of science, the context of science, and the content of science have good criteria. Based on this, the use of the developed Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical (STEM)-based e-module is feasible to be used as an alternative learning resource for substance pressure material in science learning.

Abstract

Cirebon Regency is one of the areas in West Java which is located on the coast of the Java Sea and has good natural resource potential, causing the biodiversity in the Cirebon area to be relatively high and attractive, thus having potential that can be used as a learning resource. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the local potential-based biodiversity e-booklet on critical thinking skills according to Ennis, which consists of aspects of providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, further clarification, setting strategies and tactics. This research is a development research or Research and Development (R&D) that adopts the Sugiyono model (2017) with the research subject of 101 students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Losari, MAN 5 Cirebon and SMA NU Ciledug. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a one group pre-test post-test design. The pretest and posttest questions consist of 20 multiple choice questions according to the critical thinking aspect according to Ennis. The results showed that the local potential-based biodiversity e-booklet was effective for improving critical thinking skills with the results of the N-gain test in the high category (35.67%), medium (58.53%), low (5.80%) with the average N-gain is 0.63 which is included in the medium category and classical completeness reaches 86.14%. Biodiversity e-booklets based on local potential are effectively used to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Program of literacy that is implemented in the school has yet to lead in science learning, this makes the students to be less conscious of the essence of science literacy in the everyday life of students. This study aims to analyze the validity, practicality and effectiveness of using e-Module based SSI in improving the scientific literacy of high school students. This research is research and development by adopting the ADDIE model. Sampling using purposive sampling method with a total of 57 students consisting of class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 3 SMAN 1 Mayong Jepara. The results showed that the analysis of the validity of the development of e-Module according to the material experts and media obtained 85,71% and 94,64% with the criteria of very valid. The analysis of the practicality of the response of the students obtained a value of 3.25 with practical criteria, as well as on the response of the teacher values obtained 3,94 with the criteria very practical. Analysis of the effectiveness of the N-Gain value in the medium category and classical completeness XI IPA 1 obtained 85.18% and XI IPA 3 obtained 76.67%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the SSI-based e-Module material on the immune system developed is valid, practical and used in learning immune system materials and is effective in improving the scientific literacy skills of high school students.

Abstract

SMA Al-I'tishom is a boarding school that applies two curricula, namely the national education curriculum and the pesantren curriculum. Seeing the condition of the school environment with the background of Islamic boarding schools and the absence of integrated teaching materials with Islamic values. This study aims to develop a supplementary respiratory system teaching material that integrates Islamic values ​​in the formation of an attitude of caring about the dangers of smoking. This development research refers to the ADDIE development model which consists of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate. The test of the validity of the teaching material supplements was carried out by three biology learning experts as validators. The practicality test is carried out through learning in class XI science high school students. Test the effectiveness of teaching material supplements through a pre-experiment with a one-shot-case-styudy design. The test results show that the average percentage score of the validity of the three validators is 88.33% with very valid criteria. The results of the practicality test obtained an average of 90.45% with very practical criteria. The results of the learning implementation trial obtained an average score of 89.50% with very practical criteria. The results of the trial of the attitude of caring about the dangers of smoking obtained an average score of 85%. Based on the results of the validity test, practicality test, and effectiveness test, the supplement of Islamic values ​​integrated respiratory system teaching materials produced through research can be declared valid, and can form an attitude of caring about the dangers of smoking.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the validity of teaching materials and the effectiveness of STEAM-based human respiratory system teaching materials in improving students' critical thinking skills. The type of research used is research and development (R&D) which uses the ADDIE development model with a trial design of teaching materials using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of two material expert validators, one media expert validator, 7 subject teachers, and 143 class VIII junior high school students in Comal Pemalang Regency. The research instruments were in the form of needs analysis sheets, teaching materials validation sheets, and assessment instruments. The results of the validity of teaching materials by material and media experts obtained a very valid category. The results of the N-Gain analysis on the critical thinking indicator obtained a value of 0.68 in the medium category. STEAM-based human respiratory system teaching materials are feasible to use in learning and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Misunderstanding in drawing conclusions about a concept caused by errors and incomplete thinking is called misconception. The existing misconception can lead to ongoing misconception if it is not immediately corrected. This study aimed to analyze how the level of misconceptions that occured in prospective science teachers. This study was conducted using a mixed-method with an explanatory sequential design. Methods of collecting data were Three Tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) test questions to analyze the misconception and in-depth interview to determine the factors causing misconceptions. The instrument used in this study was TTMC diagnostic test. Technique used for analyzing misconceptions data were descriptive percentages and for analyzing factors causing misconceptions data were in-depth interview. The results show that 60.4% of prospective science teacher students had misconceptions, which means that the misconceptions that occured were in the high category. Factors causing misconceptions were dominated by incompleteness in understanding the material, the influence of previous learning, the references used contain the wrong concept, low interest in deepening the material to find out the correct concept. This study is expected to help teachers and prospective teachers to decide what learning methods can be used to prevent misconceptions. Remediation can be done to find out where the misconceptions occur so that it can be corrected more quickly.

Abstract

The graduate’s profile of the middle education unit is expected to be able to achieve national educational goals which consider 21st-century skills such as critical thinking. One of the learning strategies which can build students' critical thinking skills is socio-scientific issues-based learning and digital literacy. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of socio-scientific issues-based learning and digital literacy to build the critical thinking skills of the students of senior high school. This research is experimental research with a posttest-only control-group design. The samples in this study are the students of class X MIPA 1, X MIPA 2, X MIPA 7, and X MIPA 8, which are taken by random sampling technique. The data taken in this research is the data on critical thinking skills which are collected by test and non-test methods. The results of the research show that (1) based on the t-test, the results of the scores of Sig (2-tailed) < 0.05 mean that the scores of the student's critical thinking skills in the experimental classes are significantly different from the control class. The average scores of the student's critical thinking skills of the experimental classes are higher than the control class scores, so it can be interpreted that the student's critical thinking skills of the experimental classes are better than the control class, (2) the classical completeness in the experimental classes is higher than in the control classes. However, classical completeness in the experimental classes only reaches 65%, (3) the scores of the student response questionnaires in the good-very good category reach 97.2%, with details in the good category (75-84) reaching 59.7%, the very good category (85-100) reaching 37.5%. Thus, it can be concluded that socio-scientific issues-based learning and digital literacy on viruses and bacteria material is effective in building the critical thinking skills of high school students, however, it has not been effective in fulfilling classical completeness.

Abstract

SMAN 1 Jepara yang telah ditetapkan sebagai sekolah RSBI, menghadapi berbagai masalah pembelajaran akibat penggunaan bahasa bilingual Indonesia-Inggris. Dari kenyataan tersebut, peneliti mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran redoks bilingual melalui pendekatan SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, Society) berorientasi CET (Chemo-Edutainment) dengan CD interaktif, dengan tujuan perangkat yang dikembangkan efektif meningkatkan capaian kompetensi belajar siswa, serta rumusan masalah seberapa besar tingkat kevalidan dan efektifitas perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran redoks di kelas X SMAN 1 Jepara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R & D, dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Jepara. Sampling dilakukan dengan simple cluster random sampling terpilih 4 kelas sebagai sampel penelitian, dengan perlakuan bilingual-SETS-CET, bilingual-CET, bilingual-SETS dan X-9 bilingual. Dari uji beda diperoleh hasil capaian kompetensi untuk kelas yang menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran bilingual-SETS-CET lebih baik dibandingkan kelas lainnya dengan rata-rata 71 dan N-gain 0,5. Ketuntasan klasikal belum mencapai nilai 75 pada semua kelas. Pada keempat kelas eksperimen tidak ada beda rerata kreativitas maupun aktivitasnya. Rerata skor respons siswa pada kelas bilingual-SETS-CET berbeda dengan ketiga kelas lainnya dan skor respons siswa pada kelas ini sebesar 81%. Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan perangkat pembelajaran redoks bilingual-SETS-CET paling efektif dibanding ketiga kelas lainnya.SMAN 1 Jepara which has been included to RSBI, is facing some problems in giving learning through bilingual Indonesia-Inggris. From the reason, the researcher tries to develop bilingual redoks learning instrument using SETS approach (Science, Environment, Technology, Society) oriented to CET (Chemo-Edutainment) with interactive CD that is aimed to develop students’ competence effectively, also to prve the validity and effectiveness of learning instrument to increase the result of redoks learning at X grade SMAN 1 Jepara. This research is a R & D research, with whole students of X grade SMAN 1 Jepara as population. The sample is done by doing simple cluster random sampling which choosing 4 classes as samples, with bilingual-SETS-CET, bilingual-CET, bilingual-SETS dan X-9 bilingual treatment. From difference test it is gained bilingual-SETS-CET is better than another class with the scores 71 for N-gain 0,5. Minimum standard which is 75 hasn’t been achieved by all classes. In those four experiment classes there’s no different average of the creativity and activity The average scores of students’ response in bilingual-SETS-CET is different with other classes and 81% is the average of all classes. From the result it can be concluded that redoks learning bilingual-SETS-CET is the most effective of the three activities

Abstract

Perubahan paradigma pendidikan dari teacher center menjadi student center membawa konsekuensi siswa perlu diberi kesempatan belajar langsung dan terlibat dalam penilaian sehingga dapat membentuk sikap ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas dan menguji keefektifan dari penerapan peer assessment pada siswa SMA kelas XI IPA serta peningkatan prestasi belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen. Teknik sampling penelitian dilakukan secara random. Variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil penilaian aktivitas dan sikap ilmiah serta nilai tes pengusaan konsep. Pengumpulan data diperoleh menggunakan angket siswa dan guru, tes kognitif, serta metode observasi. Peningkatan aktivitas dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif. Keefektifan penerapan peer assessment dianalisis melalui validitas dan reliabilitas. Validitas peer assessment dianalisis dengan rumus korelasi product moment, dan reliabilitasnya dengan hasil rating. Peningkatan prestasi belajar dianalisis dengan N-Gain. Hasil analisis dari 3 kali pertemuan untuk persentase aktivitas siswa pada kelompok A1 yang menggunakan Jigsaw dengan peer assessment dan A2 menggunakan Jigsaw tanpa peer assessment lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok A3 dan A4. Kelompok A3 menggunakan konvensional dengan peer assessment dan A4 sebagai kelompok kontrol tanpa Jigsaw dan peer assessment. Hasil analisis untuk persentase keefektifan penerapan peer assessment setiap item yaitu rasa ingin tahu, menunjukkan kepedulian, bekerja sama, tanggung jawab dan keterbukaan berada pada kategori tinggi. Rata-rata koefisien reliabilitas berada pada kategori tinggi. Koefisien validitas lebih dari 0,811. Dari data tersebut disimpulkan bahwa peer assessment efektif diterapkan pada kegiatan pembelajaran Jigsaw untuk menilai sikap ilmiah siswa SMA kelas XI IPA. Berdasarkan uji analisis varian (anava) pada tes penguasaan konsep yang dilakukan oleh kelompok A1, A2, A3 dan A4 menggunakan perbandingan nilai pretes, postes dan N-Gain menunjukkan bahwa keempat kelompok dengan perlakuan yang berbeda mempunyai kemampuan penerimaan penguasaan konsep yang sama. Educational paradigm shift from teacher to student center student center carries consequences need to be given the opportunity to study abroad and involved in the assessment so as to form a scientific attitude. This study aims to determine the increase in activity and test the effectiveness of the implementation of peer assessment in high school science class XI and improving learning achievement. The research method used is the quasi-experiment. Engineering studies conducted in random sampling. The variables in this study is the assessment of activity and the scientific attitude and value overs test the concept. The collection of data obtained using student and teacher questionnaires, cognitive tests, as well as methods of observation. Increased activity was analyzed with descriptive analysis. The effectiveness of the implementation of peer assessment are analyzed through the validity and reliability. The validity of peer assessment formula were analyzed by product moment correlation, and reliability with the rating. Improved learning achievement was analyzed by N-Gain. The analysis of three meetings for the percentage of students activity in group A1 who uses Jigsaw to peer assessment and A2 use the Jigsaw without peer assessment is higher than the A3 and A4. Group using a conventional A3 and A4 with the peer assessment as a control group without Jigsaw and peer assessment. Analytical results for the effectiveness of the implementation of peer assessment percentage of each item that is curious, showing concern, cooperation, responsibility and transparency are at the high category. Average reliability coefficient is in the high category. Validity coefficients over 0.811. From these data concluded that the peer assessment effectively applied to the Jigsaw learning activities to assess the scientific attitudes of high school students class XI science. Based on analysis of variance test (ANAVA) in tests conducted by the mastery of the concept of group A1, A2, A3 and A4 uses the comparison value of the pretest, postes and N-Gain showed that the four groups with different treatments have the ability of the control concept is the same reception.

Abstract

Masalah pada penelitian ini bagaimana mengembangkan media pembelajaran komik bergambar pada materi sistem saraf untuk pembelajaran yang menggunakan strategi PQ4R agar dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar, aktivitas, dan minat siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan media pembelajaran komik bergambar materi sistem saraf manusia untuk pembelajaran menggunakan strategi PQ4R yang valid, efektif dan praktis. Penelitian ini merupakan R&D. Sumber data tiga guru biologi, enam siswa simulasi dan 40 siswa kelas besar. Validasi penelitian pengembangan melibatkan validator materi dan validator media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media pembelajaran komik bergambar dapat meningkatkan ketuntasan hasil belajar peserta didik dilihat dari gain score termasuk kriteria sedang, meningkatkan keaktifan peserta didik, meningkatkan minat peserta didik, dan mendapat respon positif dari peserta didik serta guru. Penelitian ini menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran dengan sumber belajar media komik bergambar sistem saraf manusia untuk pembelajaran yang menggunakan strategi PQ4R di SMA Negeri I Bojong yang valid efektif dan praktis.The problem of this research is how to develop learning media using comic in the nerve system material for the learning which using PQ4R strategy to increase the result, activity, and students’ interest. The purpose of the research is to develop learning media using comic in nerve system for learning which using valid, effective and simple P4QR strategy. The kind of research is R&D. There are three sources, three teachers, six simulation students and 40 students from a big class. The validity of research development involves material validator and media validator. The result shows that comic media can increase the result which can bee seen in gaining score which includes average criteria, improvement of affective, interest, and positive response from teacher and students. This research creates learning device using comic in human nerve system which uses valid, effective, and simple PQ4R strategy in SMA N 1 Bojong.
