Abstract

The development of teaching supplements based on research results regarding the dangers of vaping needs to be conducted considering that there is no integration regarding the dangers of vaping in biology subjects. Students need to improve information about the dangers of vaping through scientific literacy. The data collection techniques in this study consisted of a questionnaire. Through the data collection, the instruments needed in this study include validation sheets of material experts and media experts. The data were analyzed quantitatively to determine the category of validity and deepened by qualitative analysis. Based on the results of expert validation, research-based teaching supplements regarding the dangers of vaping were generally very valid with the average validation score of the two validators being 94.45%. The material contained in the teaching supplement was also adapted to current scientific developments related to the dangers of vaping by following scientific literacy indicators. The effectiveness of teaching supplements was determined based on the N-Gain value, the N-Gain value obtained was 0.76 which is in the High category

Abstract

Multi-representation ability is one of the abilities that must be possessed by students, especially in science subjects to be able to understand the topics, at the chemistry level, multirepresentation abilities are divided into three, they are macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic abilities. This study aims to develop a digital module for the classification of the change topics to improve the multi-representation ability of junior high school students. This research method follows development research (R&D) with the ADDIE model (analysis, define, design, develop, evaluation) with a sample of 100 class VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Kedungjati and SMP Negeri 2 Kedungjati in April 2022. The method of data collection by observation, interviews, and documentation, for data collection instruments with a questionnaire sheet. Data analysis techniques include questionnaire validity test, question validity test, questionnaire reliability test, question reliability test, digital module feasibility test, digital module practicality test and digital module effectiveness test. The conclusion of this study was that a digital module of material classification and its changes were developed based on multi-representation for class VII students whose feasibility, practicality and application could increase the classical completeness of the test, the average test scores obtained by students, and increase the multi-representation ability of students.

Abstract

The use of learning resources that have not yet ideal creates difficulties for students, particularly on Plantae material at SMA Negeri 1 Kembang, Jepara Regency, Central Java Province. Students had difficulties in identifying, mentioning, explaining the characteristics, body structure, and grouping plants into divisions based on general characteristics. In addition, the absence of the data from observations and phenetic and phylogenetic analyzes of plants and the role of plants in survival on earth (particularly in the surrounding environment), had an impact on the difficulty of achieving Core Competency Plantae. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the e-plantbook with a scientific approach to student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 1 Kembang, Jepara Regency, Central Java Province. E-plantbook is a mobile learning applications-based e-book naming on Plantae material. E-plantbook can be used as an alternative learning resource for students. This research method is quasi-experimental to measure the effectiveness of using e-plantbook with a non-equivalent research design pretest-posttest control group design to measure learning outcomes. The average of student learning outcomes in the cognitive aspect is 89. E-plantbook is assessed to be effective based on a) the results of the t test for increasing cognitive learning outcomes with a significance of 0.000 (< 0.05) which indicates a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class, b) N Gain cognitive learning outcomes of 0.71 in the experimental class is greater than the control class (0.45), and c) the average score of the psychomotor aspect of the experimental class (3.80) with a very good category and greater than control class (3.53) with very good category. The use of e-plantbooks in the learning process could encourage student-centered learning because students were more active and students could learn independently.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate central java teachers’ perspective about STEM. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM recently has been becoming the most discussed in education practice. Integrating engineering and technology with science and mathematics will help teachers to deliver material using real world problem. Using project based learning to solve the problem can enhance students’ interest, collaboration, discipline, critical and creative thinking skills. In fact, survey research showed that 35 of 72 teachers in central java do not know about STEM and teachers that have implemented STEM in the class have difficulties while teaching it. The highest hurdles teachers met was time allocation. Indonesian curriculum has a lot of materials that should have delivered in a limited time makes teachers hard to implement STEM in the learning process. Followed by teachers’ difficulties to integrate between science, technology, engineering and math because there is no curriculum materials to guide them and other difficulties are school infrastructure, students motivation, and lack of preparation. Time allocation, school infrastructures, STEM integration, and preparation are the most hurdles that teacher met in the class.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the application of the STEM-based Blended Project Based Learning model in improving scientific literacy skills and student learning activities. This research is a Research and Development (R&D), the product developed is a STEM-based blended project based learning model contained in the Syllabus, Learning Implementation Plan, evaluation tools, and Student Worksheets. The research design used One group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected using test and non-test methods, to measure aspects of scientific literacy skills and student activities in learning. The research subject is grade of VII SMP 1 Mejobo Kudus.The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive analysis and inferential statistics (N-gain test). The results of the validation of the STEM-Based Blended Project Based Learning model for environmental pollution materials developed obtained valid criteria for use in learning. Characteristics STEM-based blended project-based learning model developed based on six main pillars, namely curriculum centered, contextual, real problem-based, constructive investigation, realistic projects and student autonomy. Application STEM-based blended project-based learning model meet the eligibility criteria. This is indicated by the average result of the classical science literacy test is 70.11 and the proportion of classical learning completeness meets 75 out of 105 complete KKM 70, and the average N-gain achievement is 0.40 in the medium category. The results of the analysis of the observation of student learning activities obtained the highest score or percentage, namely 71.90% in the good category. Student response to implementation STEM-based blended project-based learning model received a positive response from students with a mean score of 72.30 with the criteria of "agree".

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has touched every aspect of people's lives, including health and education. Because there is a lot of ignorance about prevention of Covid-19, it is necessary to have learning media that is easily accepted. E-Books are one of the solutions to provide education about the SARS CoV-2 virus which is given to students as a supplement to teaching materials on viruses. The purpose of this study was to test the validity of teaching steel supplements as learning media on viruses and students' scientific argumentation skills. This research uses the Thiagarajan 4-D model development method (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The data analysis technique used is descriptive data analysis including the validity of responses from users and the effectiveness of the products tested on class X MIPA 1 student of SMAN 1 Bandar Lampung. The results showed that the developed e-book had valid criteria by material experts with a score of 75.00% and very valid by media experts with a score of 95.83%. Students and teachers responded to the e-book used in learning, respectively 92.17% and 94.38% with very valid criteria. Analysis of students' scientific argumentation abilities showed moderate criteria with an average N-gain value of 0.52. Thus, the teaching material supplement in the form of an e-book that is being developed can be used as a biology learning medium to improve students' scientific argumentation skills.

Abstract

The aim of education in Indonesia is to educate the life of the nation. In an effort to realize the goals of Indonesian education, a teacher as an educator must understand and have Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) skills, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic which requires learning to be done online. One of the subjects that develops TPACK abilities is Animal Physiology at the Department of Biology, Semarang State University. The purpose of this study: 1) Knowing the process of implementing Online Learning which is carried out in Animal Physiology lessons can improve the TPACK abilities of Biology Education study program students. 2) Knowing the TPACK ability level of Biology Education study program students after participating in Online Learning Animal Physiology. This research is a mixed method research with an explanatory sequential design. Selection of the sample by purposeful sampling. The research population is all students majoring in Biology class of 2019. The research sample is students of the Biology Education Study Program Classes B and C who are taking the Even Semester Animal Physiology course in the 2020/2021 academic year. The results showed that learning Animal Physiology online by using project assignments can foster TPACK abilities in Biology Education study program students. TPACK's capabilities can be seen and observed from the initial online learning meeting activities to the completion of project assignments.

Abstract

Changes in the learning paradigm in higher education develop along the times. In the 21 st century, one of the roles of higher education institutions is to act as a liaison with changes in the job market. Minister of Education and Culture No. 3 in the year 2020 states that the two of several characteristics of the learning process in the KKNI curriculum are integrative and scientific. The teaching supplements were developed as an effort to fulfill the integrative and scientific characteristics. This research examines the validity and practicality of the developed teaching supplements and looks toward the effect on students' critical thinking skills and science process skills. This research was conducted using the research and development method and the model used was the ADDIE model. The developed teaching supplement has very valid and very practical criteria so that it can be applied to research samples with minor revisions. Then, the developed teaching supplements are proven to be able to optimize students' critical thinking skills and science process skills. In addition, this research also reveals that critical thinking skills are correlated with science process skills.

Abstract

The challenges that students will face in the future are complex, so students need a myriad of competencies. To be able to compete and face challenges in the industrial era 4.0, one of which is the ability to process information and communicate. This study aims to analyze the effect of the argument-based SQ3R method in improving students' critical reading skills in science learning. This research is a Quasi-Experimental study with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 62 class VIII students consisting of two classes. The technique for collecting data on reading interest used a questionnaire sheet instrument and data on the results of students' critical reading ability used essay questions. Based on the results of the research data analysis, it was shown that the argument-based SQ3R learning method had a positive effect on students' critical reading skills, with the results of the t-test showing Asymp. sig. of 0.00 <0.05, with supporting data on students' critical reading skills seen from the student's reading interest questionnaire with the results of the Mann Whitney U-test showing Asymp. Sig of 0.018 <0.05 which means that there is an influence of the argument-based SQ3R learning method on students' critical reading skills.

Abstract

Keterampilan yang perlu dikuasai siswa untuk menghadapi kehidupan di abad ke-21 adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah, kolaborasi dan kepemimpinan, dan kemampuan beradaptasi, islam dan sains telah menjadi topik utama dalam forum ilmiah internasional, karena islam membahas banyak fakta ilmiah yang telah dinyatakan dalam Al-Qur'an dan Hadist. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan modul, menguji keefektivan modul dan mendiskripsikan profil kecerdasan Spiritual Quotient (SQ) siswa dalam pembelajaran sistem ekskresi terintegrasi Al-Qur’an dan Hadist. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Berdasarkan hasil rekapitulasi penilaian modul oleh validator ahli materi dan media dinyatakan bahwa modul sistem ekskresi terintegrasi Al-Qur’an dan Hadist sangat layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Efektivitas modul sistem ekskresi terintegrasi Al-Qur’an dan Hadist ditunjukkan dengan perolehan nilai tes pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dimana nilai tes kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol. Siswa yang mempelajari modul sistem ekskresi terintegrasi Al-Qur’an dan Hadist memiliki nilai SQ dengan kategori sangat baik. The skills that students need to master to face life in the 21st century are critical thinking skills and problem solving, collaboration and leadership, and adaptability, Islam and science have become major topics in international scientific forums, because Islam discusses many scientific facts that have been stated. in the Qur'an and Hadith. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the module, test the effectiveness of the module and describe the profile of students' Spiritual Quotient (SQ) intelligence in learning the integrated excretory system of the Qur'an and Hadith. This research design uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Based on the results of the module assessment recapitulation by the material and media expert validators it was stated that the integrated excretion system module of the Al-Qur'an and Hadith was very suitable for use in learning. The effectiveness of the integrated excretion system module of the Qur'an and Hadith is shown by the acquisition of test scores in the experimental class and control class, where the test scores of the experimental class are higher than the control class. Students who study the Al-Qur'an and Hadith integrated excretory system module have SQ scores in the very good category.
