Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of agricultural extension relationship as (motivator, dynamist, facilitator) to the success of farmers in farming scallion and a general farm (costs, revenues and profits) scallion, in district Sukapura Probolinggo. Analysis of the data used include: (a) the role of agricultural extension relationship as (motivator, dynamist, facilitator) to the success of farmers in farming scallion with spearman rank test (b) know the description of the analysis used scallion farm profits, revenues, R/C ratio, results showed that each independent variable role of agricultural extension as (motivator, dynamist, facilitator) has a real connection to the strengthening of scallion farms in the village of Ngadisari, Ngadirejo. The results of spearman rank test showed that the role of agricultural extension that gives the highest correlation to the success of the farmers is the facilitator (t test 0.762) and the probability of sig ≤ 0.05. Facility is an important factor to consider in relation to the success of the farmers. A good facility is able to generate a positive image of farmers, so that will affect farmers in the farming village Ngadisari scallion, Ngadirejo. Scallion farms in the district Sukapura profitable with an average profit of Rp 7,782,451.22/ha. Value of R/C ratio for the land, amounting to 1.623. This means the scallion farms in the district Sukapura was worth at try

Abstract

A study that as aimed to elucidate farming and marketing efficiencies of indigenous and intensive poultry farming was carried out at Dusun Tengah District of Barito Timur Regency. One hundred fifty four farmers was grouped into two groups, i.e. ordinary farmers having traditional poultry farming and leading farmers having intensive farming. Fifteen samples were then randomly selected from each group summing 30 samples. Trader samples were determined using a non probability sampling method. Primary data was directly collected from farmer samples through interview. Data analyses covered farming feasibility that was measured using RCR (revenue cost ratio), effect of marketing cost that included costs of transportation, labour, retribution, risk and capital interest on profit of traders, marketing margin, vertical market integration and price transmission elasticity. Results of this study showed that intensive farming of indigenous poultry gave profit twice higher than that of traditional farming. However, intensive farming was more profitable than traditional farming. There were five marketing channels of indigenous poultry involving farmers and traders. The greatest margin distribution at most marketing channels was recieved by traders. Marketing costs simultaneously gave signicifant affect to profit made by traders. Price at farmer level with that of consumer level was not yet vertically integrated so that full competition of market structure has not developed

Abstract

This research was aimed at understanding and examining plantlet response to Kepok Banana in various doses of gamma ray radiation. Single Complete Random Planning was employed with 5 levels of gamma ray radiation doses. These five treatments comprised to 0 krad (A); 2.5 krad (B); 5.0 krad (C); 7.5 krad (D); and 10.0 krad (E). Every treatment had 5 replications. Each replication had 2 bottles such that 50 bottles emerge for a unit of experiment. The observation involved parameters such as shooting period, number of shoot, number of leaf, shoot height, plantlet stem, rooting period, number of leaf chlorophyll, and esterase iso enzyme tape pattern. Results of research indicated that gamma ray radiation doses affected its morphology characteristics (shooting period, number of shoot, number of leaf, shoot height, and number of leaf chlorophyll) and its genetic characteristics (esterase iso enzyme tape pattern from leaf). Dose of 2.50 krad gamma ray was able to produce mutant-based Kepok Banana shown by different morphology and genetic characteristics from original seed. Doses of 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 krad gamma ray radiations had harmful effect on plantlet of Kepok Banana

Abstract

This research aims to analyze structure, conduct and performance of marketing of onion at Probolinggo to measure market efficiency. Data analysis use structure, conduct, performance approach and regression methods. The analysis of market structure showed that market structure of onions moving between olygopsoni to perfect competition market, and there are not entry/exit barriers for new comer and so does no differentiation of product. Based on Kr, IH, CR4 and market share indicator, no one of traders can monopolize the market. Commodity flow analysis shows there at least eight kinds of marketing channels to distribute product from farmers to consumers. Market conduct analysis shows that pricing process based on individual negotiations no formal institution to control the market and no significant competition among traders. Market performance analysis shows that marketing cost, margin and marketing profit varies among traders and channels. Share of price of farmer relatively high. Price change of consumers transmitted to price change of producers correctly, producers market and consumers market has been integrated with reference market. According to market structure, conduct and market performance, we saw the marketing system not yet efficient

Abstract

Aims of this research is to evaluate relation land suitable class by using class criterion according to different farm to production, rendemen and advantage of sugarcane crop. Criterion of land suitability perceived to cover climate, condition of root, retention of nutrion, availibility of virgin, condition of surface of farm with using two criterion is Djaenuddin et al. (2003) and FAO (1983). The result indicate that assessment of land sustainability use criterion of Djaenudin et al. ( 2003) yielded by correspondence among physical class, class produce and class of rendemen equal to 33,3 gratuity. While advantage class counted 41,6 gratuity good match for physical class but jar with with class produce and also rendemen. Accumulatively advantage class tend to compared to lower of physical class, class produce and advantage class. Assessment of land suitability use criterion of FAO (1983) at yielded by correspondence among physical class, class produce and class of rendemen equal to 8,3 gratuity. Advantage class counted 66,6 gratuity good match for physical class but jar with with class produce and also rendemen. Incompatible all result of assessment of class according to sugar cane crop farm among physical class, production class, class of rendemen advantage class and at set of usage of farm because of difference in stipulating of criterion according to and decision making in classification according to farm. Usage of farm quality as factor influencing and production of rendemen not yet complete included as farm criterion at Djaenuddin et al. ( 2003) and also FAO ( 1983)

Abstract

The experiment was aimed to investigate the effect of grasses variety and organic matter on the morphology characteristic of Elephant and King grasses in Volcanic soil of Klakah village, Selo sub district, Boyolali regency. A completely randomized design in a series of 2 x 4 experiment, with 4 replications were used to arrange the experiment. The first factor consisted of two grasses variety: Elephant grass (R1) and King grass (R2). The second factors were kinds of organics matter: D0 (no organic matter); D1 (organic matter 5 ton/ha); D2 (organic matter 10 t/ha) and D3 (organic matter 15 t/ha). The results showed highly significant effect of dietary organic matter on the morphological characteristic of tiller total of Elephant and King grasses. Both treatments showed significant interaction (P=0.05) on tiller total. Dietary organic matter factor did not affect plant height of two kind of grasses, but significantly affected leaf and culm ratio. The kinds of grasses factor showed highly significant effect (P=0.01) on plant height, but significant effect on leaf and culm ratio. The organic matter increased number of tiller total on two kinds of grasses. King grass responded better than elephant grass on height plant and leaf and culm ratio. It is concluded that dietary organic matter at 5 t/ha could be recommended to be applied on volcanic soil
