Abstract

Three experiments were done to study the apparent and true metabolizable energy (AMEN and TME) values of rice bran determined with broiler chicken and duck. In experiment I, 48 broiler of 6 weeks old consisting male and female broiler were divided into 8 group, 3 birds each. Each group was fed experimental feed i.e. basal, mix of basal and rice bran (50:50) and pure rice bran according to determination methods which were Farrell, Terpstra (Spelderholt Quantitative Method) and Sibbald method. Experiment II used 10 male broiler chickens of 6 week old and 1250 ± 9,6 g body weight and 10 male ducks of 8 week old and 1300 ± 11,2 g body weight. Five of them were unfed for correcting the endogenous excreta energy. The results of experiment I indicated that the metabolizable energy values of rice bran determined on three methods was significantly different. The TME values of rice bran was higher than AMEn values which determined with Farrell method and Terpstra method and the values higher if determined with Farrell method than Terpstra method. The results of experiment II indicated that the AMEn value of rice bran which determined with duck was higher then chicken but the TME values was not significantly different. The result of experiment III indicated that the TME values of rice bran were influenced by the quality. Each quality of rice bran had higher TME values if determination, species, sex and quality of the rice bran

Abstract

Herbal medicine has been traditionality administrated to ruminants thoghout east java. It is generally believed that administration of such a medicine would improve feed intake and general condition of animal health. Nevertheless, there is pancity in the literature dealing with mechanism, by which the herbal medicine influence apetite and health. This preliminary study aimed at evaluating the effect of herbal medicine (produced by PT. Air Mancur) administration towards diurnal its subsequence influence on feed digestibility and nitrogen balance. Six rams weighing om average 9.82 1,75 kg BB0.75 (approximately 10 month old) were panned individually in the wooden-slatted cage. Each animal was equipped with a rumen cannula. In the first period all animal were fed with a diet consisted of Cynodon plectostachyus, Brachiaria decumbens and Panicum maximum c.v. Petrie hay (DM to 2,5% BW), plus commercial concentrate (30 g/kg BW0,75). Following the cessation of period I, the animals were administered 2,82 g/kg BW0,75 from the recommended dose of herbal medicine per day for 20 concecutive days wherw all parameters measured in period I were repeated. The result indicates that the average of NH3 concentration, pH, dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility (in-vitro and in-sacco) was very significantly different (P

Abstract

Sesame seed production in rice field one of possible factor is low that needs to be improved. Planting arrangement is expected to increase sesame production. The experiment was conducted in Nganjuk, East Java in April to November 2014. Split Plot Design was used and 3 times replication. The main plot consists two sesame varieties (Winas-1 and Winas-2). Subplot consisted of six plant arrangements, (1) a single row of 50 cm x 25 cm, (2) a single row of 60 cm x 25 cm, (3) double row 40/80 cm x 25 cm, (4) double row 50/80 cm x 25 cm, (5) double row 40/100 cm x 25 cm and (6) double row 50/100 cm x 25 cm. The results showed that the growth, yield components and seed production per hectare of sesame were affected by varieties and plant arrangement. Winas-1 produced a specific leaf weight, leaf area index, leaf relative water content and the number of capsules per plant was higher than Winas-2. Number of branches per plant, weight of 1000 seeds and light interception within and below of shoot were produced Winas-1 lower than Winas-2. Seed production both varieties did not differ. The double row planting arrangement 50/100 cm x 25 cm produced the growth, yield components and seed production per hectare highest and followed by a double row planting arrangement 40/100 cm x 25 cm

Abstract

A pot trial using sandy soil samples from the dryland farming system of Northern Lombok was conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture, Mataram University to study the role of indigenous of mycorrhiza to improve soil fertility, nutrients uptake, soybean growth and yields. Treatments tested were: without mycorrhiza inoculation with no fertilizers as control (Ko), inoculation of mycorrhiza with no fertilizers (K1), inoculation of mycorrhiza with cattle manure (K2), inoculation of mycorrhiza plus rock phosphate (K3) and inoculation of mycorrhiza plus inorganic fertilizers (K4). The five treatments were arranged in a Completely Randomized Block Design with four replicates. Soil fertility status observed were concentrations of N, P, K, and organic-C and soil pH. Agronomic measurements were crop nutrients uptake (N, P, K and Ca), growth and yield. Variables dealing with mycorrhiza were recorded for: total population of mycorrhiza and percentage of roots infection. Overall, the results of study showed that soil fertility status as well as performance of growth and yield of soybean tended to be higher in arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) inoculated soils compared to other treatments. Therefore, the application of AM along with application of cattle manure would be promising to sustain soil productivity under soybean cropping system

Abstract

A field experiment had been conducted to study growth performance and yield of stick nut in tidal swamp land of South Kalimantan as well as to describe growth of Rhizobium colony and to obtain dominant indigenous Rhizobium isolate in the area. The experiment was conducted in shallow tidal swamp land of Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency and in middle tidal swamp land of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency of South Kalimantan. Varieties of stick nut used for the study were Nagara local variety, high yielding varieties of KT-2 and KT5. The stick nut seeds were planted in a 4 x 3 m plot with planting distance of 75 cm x 50 cm. Measurements were stick nut performance, nodule distribution patterns and characteristics of indigenous Rhizobium. Results of this study showed that there were no significant differences in plant performance of the tree varieties in the two land types. However, diversity index of Rhizobium and nodule distribution patterns observed in the shallow tidal swamp land differed from those observed in middle tidal swamp land’. Three dominant Rhizobium isolates were found in the two land types

Abstract

Person with disabilities has different needs than normal individuals. This difference causes limitations in movement and orientation. As a designer, of course in creating facilities can be used all levels of society, so the need for special treatment in design. Part of architectural context other than buildings is open space. Open space has another function, as a circulation path can also be developed in the form of park. Benefits for people with disabilities, parks can also be a means of learning, training independence and therapeutic areas. In the case study selected location in SLB-C Lawang (tuna grahita or mental retardation), this location has a large area for the development of garden design of motor development and mental children with disabilities or called educational park. The park is divided into two zones: active and passive. The active zone consists of a children's playroom and a sensory park that trains the senses of the five senses, while the passive zone as a park to be visually enjoyed. Therapeutic activities for mental retardation are not just for healing but to practice the senses' abilities of smell, taste, touch, and listener. Initially still an open space that has not been functioned specifically. The problem in this research is how the concept of accessibility and vegetation so that facilities can be used. The objective of the study was to develop a system in parks that can be enjoyed by people with disabilities and as a means of therapy. The result of this research is a concept of ease of achievement of garden for children with disfigured attention to detail of circulation design and variety of vegetation that support the concept of sensory garden so as therapy area.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to evaluate the diversity of forages commonly fed to goats in Pasrujambe village; 2) to introduce moringa leaves as a protein source for growing goats under village management conditions. Ninety goat farmers were surveyed on the profiles of goat farming and the diversity of forages offered to their goats during the dry season. To evaluate the impact of moringa leaves supplementation, 26 growing goats (less than one year old) were alloted into two unequal groups, that is control group (7 heads) and supplemented group (19 heads) for four months during which observations on feed intake, daily gain and feed conversion were taken place. The results indicates that most goat farmers (73,3%) have been practising more than 25 years, while the rest (26,7%) was keeping goats less than 5 years. The sex ratio of goats kept by the farmers was 67,4% female: 32,6% male. There were 49 species of forages commonly fed to goats in Pasrujambe that can be grouped into 5 species of grasses, 3 species of tree legumes, 29 species of tree leaves and 12 species of herbaceous. There were significant improvement in feed intake (P
