A sliding mode controller is used to estimate the maximum power point as a reference for it to track that point and force the PV system to operate in this point. In sliding mode control, the trajectories of the system are forced to reach a sliding manifold of surface, where it exhibit desirable features, in finite time and to stay on the manifold for all future time. The load is composed of a battery bank. It is obtained by controlling the duty cycle of a DC-DC converter using sliding mode control. This method has the advantage that it will guarantee the maximum output power possible by the array configuration while considering the dynamic parameters solar irradiance and delivering more power to charge the battery. The proposed system with sliding mode control is tested using MATLAB / SIMULINK platform in which a maximum power is tracked under constant and varying solar irradiance and delivered to the battery which increasing the current that is charging the battery and reduces the charging time.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v3i3.2289

Quasi-Z-Source Inverter (QZSI) has introduced a new wave of interest in engineering industry and research. Reduction in device rating has been the main objective in introducing QZSI topologies. The introduced topologies in QZSI have proven to be feasible in a wide range for high power with medium voltage applications. This paper mainly focuses on QZSI topologies with continuous input current conduction and also power conditioning in the renewable energy system. Based on a detailed comparison of these topologies suitable QZSI can be arrived for a given application.

This paper analyzes influences of renewable fraction on grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) for office building energy systems. The fraction of renewable energy has important contributions on sizing the grid-connected PV systems and selling and buying electricity, and hence reducing net present cost (NPC) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. An optimum result with the lowest total NPC for serving an office building is achieved by employing the renewable fraction of 58%, in which 58% of electricity is supplied from the PV and the remaining 42% of electricity is purchased from the grid. The results have shown that the optimum grid-connected PV system with an appropriate renewable fraction value could greatly reduce the total NPC and CO2 emission.

In this study, different precise and appropriate control mechanisms for speed and steering control of a robot with mobile movement that use a Direct Current motor, have been simulated for improved controllers? response. Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID), Lead-Lag compensator, and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) are designed as well as simulated to provide command over the angular speed of a Direct Current motor mounted in the robot. The response of the Direct Current motor for every controller is observed and compared among each other for a sinusoidal and a step input which indicate speed as well as position respectively of mobile robot. The performance analysis indicates that the Lead-Lag compensator and PID controller can be considered effective for the task assigned for steering the wheel and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is efficient for wheel speed controlling. Considering the overall improved performance of the mobile robot in terms of precision of speed control as well as steering capability, it seems reasonable to conclude that the proposed design criteria were effective and satisfactory.

In this paper a new structure for "Sen" transformer is introduced, by using three winding transformers with neutral point in order to use negative value of compensating voltage. Combination of taps will be adjusted by a novel algorithm, to control the required active and reactive powers, separately. This paper tries to focus on three parts. First of all there is an introduction on the concept of ST structure what comes next is a try to work on power flow control by using PI controllers and an algorithm to find the best and efficient combination of taps, finally proposed idea and algorithm will be implement on a practical system. Implementation of the system consist of two separated and related parts. The first one is about transmission line and Sen Transformer and the interaction between them. The second part is programing codes that adjust taps for required active and reactive powers.

Electric vehicle (EV) has gained incredible interest from the past two decade as one of the hopeful greenhouse gasses solution. The number of Electric Vehicle (EV) is increasing around the world; hence that making EVs user friendly becomes more important. The main challenge in usage of EV is the charging time required for the batteries used in EV. As a consequence, this subject matter has been researched in many credentials where a wide range of solutions have been proposed. However those solutions are in nature due to the complex hardware structure. To provide an unswerving journey an Android application based charging optimization is proposed. This application is aimed at giving relevant information about the EV’s battery state of charge (SOC), accurate location of the EV, booking of the charging slots using token system and route planner. At emergency situations, an alternative service is provided by mobile charging stations. Route planner indicates the temperature by which prediction of reaching the destination can be done. In addition to that nearest places such as parks, motels are indicated. The estimated time and distance between the electric vehicle and the charging station is calculated by the charging station server according to which the parking lot is allocated. Vehicle to charging station communication is established for the time estimation of charging. This will help the EV users to know about charge status and charging station, which support fast charging method and availability of the station on the go and also when to charge their EV. The Arduino UNO board has been used for the hardware part. The hardware results are confirming the conceptual of the proposed work.

The aim of this paper is illustrating and exposing the performance of a Series Active Power Filter (SAPF) with PI controller and Fuzzy controller within simulation and experimental validations. This performance is best manifested in compensating the sags and the swells voltages and in eliminating the harmonic voltage and regulate the terminal voltage of the load by injecting a voltage component in series with source voltage which is increased or decreased from the source voltage, hence, maintaining the load side waveforms as pure sinusoidal. The control method used in this work is not so complex and it is based on a phase locked loop (PLL) that is used to control the active filter. It is valid only in the phase system. The efficiency of the method I suggested is affirmed through simulation results by MATLAB\Simulink® and some prototypes experiments. These results shows the capability of the proposed prototypes

An electric vehicle (EV) can be charged wirelessly through an inductively coupled power transfer system where the system resonates the inductive coupling coil at the operating frequency by means of a compensation network. However, the resonant behaviour implies overcurrent in the inverter MOSFETs during uncoupled and high load resistor conditions, which affect to the inverter MOSFETs failure whenever the current exceeds their maximum current rating. Therefore, this paper presents a CLL/S detuned compensation network for EV wireless charging application to limit the inverter current during the uncoupled state and open circuit load conditions. The proposed compensation consists of a series capacitor and parallel inductor at the primary side and series capacitor at the secondary side. By using Kirchhoff Voltage Law (KVL) analysis, the primary side is detuned to inductive behaviour to ensure zero voltage switching (ZVS), and the secondary side remains at natural resonant tuning. From the simulation analysis, the slight increase of the parallel inductor value at the primary side can limit of the inverter current at uncoupled and high load resistor conditions. The proposed system also offers higher efficiency than the series-series detuned compensation and slightly lower than the double-sided LCC compensation network at different coupling factor.

An adaptive fuzzy integral sliding-mode controller using nonlinear sliding surface is designed for the speed regulator of a field-oriented induction motor drive in this paper. Combining the conventional integral sliding surface with fractional-order integral, a nonlinear sliding surface is proposed for the integral sliding-mode speed control, which can overcome the windup problem and the convergence speed problem. An adaptive fuzzy control term is utilized to approximate the uncertainty. The stability of the controller is analyzed by Lyapunov stability theory. The effectiveness of the proposed speed regulator is demonstrated by the simulation results in comparison with the conventional integral sliding-mode controller based on boundary layer.
