In this paper, the hysteresis current control (HCC) technique based on space vector modulation (SVM) for shunt active power filter (APF) is proposed. The switching control algorithms of the HCC based SVM manage to generate compensated current according to the reference current. Harmonics extraction is based on the instantaneous active and reactive power theorem in time domain by calculating the power compensation. A closed loop control system is carried out and the error current is the difference between the reference current which is obtained from the power compensation and the actual current needs to be injected back into the power grid. By implementing this control strategy, the APF manages to generate better compensated harmonics currents to the power grid. In this article, we have set up a vector control law of induction machine where we tried different type of speed controllers. Our control strategy is of type Field Orientated Control (FOC). In this structure we designed a Fuzzy Gain-Scheduling Proportional–Integral (Pi) controller to obtain best result regarding the speed of induction machine. At the beginning we designed a Pi controller with fixed parameters. We came up to these parameters by identifying the transfer function of this controller to that of Broïda (second order transfer function). Then we designed a fuzzy logic (FL) controller. Based on simulation results, we highlight the performances of each controller. To improve the speed behaviour of the induction machine, we have designend a controller called “Fuzzy Gain-Scheduling Proportional–Integral controller” (FGS-PI controller) which inherited the pros of the aforementioned controllers. The simulation result of this controller will strengthen its performances.

This paper analyzes the effects of the bilateral control parameters variation on the stability, the transparency and the accuracy, and on the operational force that is applied to DC motor and the master system. The bilateral controller is designed for rehabilitation process. PD controller is used to control the position tracking and a force gain controller is used to control the motor torque. DOB eliminate the internal disturbance and RTOB to estimate the joint torque without using sensors. The system consists of two manipulators, each manipulator has 1dof, master and slave teleoperation system, 4 control-architecture channel, DOB and reaction force observer. The master system is attached to human oberator. The slave system is attached to external load. The aim in this paper is to design the controller so that it requires less force to move the master manipulator and at the same time achieve high performance in position tracking.

Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a series active filter device that is used to protect sensitive loads from power quality issues such as voltage sag, swell, harmonics or disturbances. This implies that the DVR is capable to mitigate power quality disturbances at load terminal. Harmonic is a major power quality problem polluting distribution network causing the end-user equipment to fail operating due to the occurrence of disturbances in voltage, current or frequency. This paper discusses on the DVR used as the proposed technique to mitigate the voltage sag and swell in a distribution network connected with energy storage system and mini-hydro turbine system.

Below is given the brief analysis of development trend for vehicle traction levitation systems with magnetic suspension. It is presented the assessment of potential development of traction levitation systems in terms of their simplicity. The examples are considered of technical solutions focused on reducing the complexity of transport systems. It is proposed the forecast of their further development.

In This paper we present experimental comparative study of feedBack Linearized and Proportional Integral (PI) Controller of the DC bus voltage of three phase shunt Active Power Filter (APF). The FeedBack Linearized and PI controllers are introduced to improve tracking performance characteristics, power quality and minimized consumption of the reactive power. The algorithm used to identify the reference currents is based on the Self Tuning Filter (STF). The firing pulses of the IGBTs inverter are generated using a hysteresis current controller; which is implemented on an analogue card. Finally, the above study, under steady state and transient conditions, is illustrated with signal-flow graphs and corresponding analysis. This study was verified by experimental tests on hardware prototype based on dSPACE-1104. The experimental results show the feasibility and the effectiveness of the designed active filter, associated with Feedback Linearized and PI controllers and are capability in meeting the IEEE 519-1992 recommended harmonic standard limits.

In this paper a buck-boost dc-dc converter for pv application is proposed, which is mainly composed of a buck – boost converter, PV panel, load and a battery. Existing dc-dc converter can convert the power from the PV panel, but unfortunately the PV panel can only provide power when there is a high intensity of light. In order to provide power supply to the load without any interruption, buck-boost dc-dc converter is introduced. The power intermittency issue of PV panel can be overcome with the aid of a secondary supply which is in this case, the batter. The integration system between the primary and the secondary supply is controlled by a simple proposed control scheme. Battery act as a power in the low voltage side while PV panel is taking over in the high voltage side. Buck-boost converter is operated either is buck or boost mode according to the performance of the PV panel. This paper is presented the simple control scheme to decide the mode suitable for the buck and boost mode. Various conditions are simulated to verify the working operation of the buck-boost converter and to representing solar panel in real life. Simulation and experimental are carried out to verify the system.

Real and Reactive power flow in an alternating current transmission line can be independently controlled by connecting, to the transmission line, a series-compensating voltage, which is variable in magnitude and phase angle. The Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), a solid-state voltage source inverter (VSC) coupled with a transformer, is connected in series with a transmission line. An SSSC injects an almost sinusoidal voltage, of variable magnitude, in series with a transmission line. This injected voltage is almost in quadrature with the line current, thereby emulating an inductive or a capacitive reactance in series with the transmission line. This emulated variable reactance, inserted by the injected voltage source, influences the electric power flow in the transmission line. Nowadays, A lot of industry requires Multi Motor System (MMS) applications such as propulsion and traction power, HEV, conveyer and air-conditioner. The Conventional arrangement for MMS usually done by cascading the motors drives which each drives has individual inverter. Part of MMS, Dual-Motor drives fed by a single inverter is being paid attention by the researchers. Dual-motor drives using a single three-leg inverter has its limitation in the case of different operating conditions and independent speed control requirement. Therefore, dual-Motor drives using a single Five-leg Inverter (FLI) was proposed for independent control for both motors. In PMSM drives, the information of the feedback speed and rotor angular position is compulsory for variable speed drives. Conventional solution is by using speed sensor which will increase size, cost, extra hardwire and feedback devices, especially for the case of dual-PMSM drives. The best solution to overcome this problem is by eliminating the usage of speed and position sensors for Dual-motor drives. This paper presents a new sensorless strategy using speed and position estimator for Independent Dual- Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) drives which utilize Five-Leg Inverter (FLI). The proposed strategy is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate the overall motor drive performance. Meanwhile the experimental set-up is connected to dSPACE 1103 Board. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed estimator is successfully managed to control the Dual-PMSM drives for variation of speed and for different direction applications.

An inverter system applied with the PV source typically has a problem of lower input voltage due to constraint in the PV strings connection. As a countermeasure a DC-DC boost converter is placed in between to achieve a higher voltage at the inverter DC link for connection to the grid and to realize the MPPT operation. This additional stage contributes to losses and complexity in control thus reducing the overall system efficiency. This work discussed on the design and development of a grid-connected quasi-Z-source PV inverter which has different topology and control method compared to the conventional voltage source inverter and able to overcome the above disadvantages. Modelling and performance analysis of the voltage and current controller to achieve a good power transfer from the PV source, as well sycnchronization with the grid are presented in detail. Results from both simulation and experimental verification demonstrate the designed and developed grid-connected qZSI PV inverter works successfully equivalent to the conventional voltage source inverter system.
